Uitstappen? Is het echt never sell Shell?

Olie is einde verhaal.

Exactly as expected.
This Is How Oil Prices Can Crash Below $0 (Yes, Really) Oil prices face a perfect storm of falling demand and increasing supply. One Wall Street analyst thinks prices could go below zero. Oil prices crashed to multi-decade lows on Wednesday. They could fall even further in a nightmare scenario for producers. | Image: Emiliano Lasalvia / AFP The coronavirus outbreak coupled with the Saudi-Russian oil price war has created a perfect storm for oil.According to one Wall Street analyst, we could soon see negative oil prices as supply far outstrips demand. As global storage capacity reaches its breaking point, oil producers may start paying customers to take delivery. The oil industry is on the brink of catastrophe as fear of a U.S recession sends oil prices to their lowest level since 2002. West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) collapsed by a staggering 19.2% to the $22 handle while Brent Crude and Mexican Basket are down 9.7% and 22.4%, respectively. Oil prices have been cratering over the last three months. | Data by Ycharts The OPEC Basket, which includes Saudi Arabia and Russia, is remarkably stable at $30.36 a barrel. But prices may soon crater as supply outstrips demand all over the world. The falling oil prices could eventually go below zero as oil supply outstrips global storage capacity. Negative oil prices will lead to a spate of bankruptcies in the oil and gas sector and — if it lasts long enough — entire countries could see their economies collapse. A Poorly Timed Price War Last week, Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E launched a program to boost production capacity in a bid to flood the market with oil. The goal is to gain more market share and bankrupt U.S. shale producers who have been taking a free ride off OPEC’s efforts to keep oil prices low. This move comes after Russia refused to agree to production cuts to support prices. Saudi Arabia could not have chosen a more painful time to launch a price war within OPEC. The coronavirus pandemic had already suppressed demand for oil and gas in China, and recession fears threaten to do the same in the United States and Europe. As a result, oil faces a perfect storm: declining demand coupled with expanding supply. One Wall Street analyst believes these factors could send oil prices below zero, and the results would be devastating for both American shale producers and OPEC nations that rely on a high oil price to balance their budgets and stabilize their currencies. Could Oil Prices Go Negative? According to Paul Sankey, managing director of Mizuho Securities, oil prices can go negative due to the coronavirus pandemic. He argues that global oil demand is only around 100 million barrels per day, but the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic could crash demand by up to 20%. This would create a 20 million barrel-per-day surplus of oil in the market that would rapidly exceed storage capacity, forcing oil producers to pay customers to buy the commodity. Sankey states the following: The physical reality of the market is that oil is pumped out of the ground and has to be consumed or stored. When the cost of storage goes high enough — or space runs out — companies might pay customers to take it. The Trump administration is taking advantage of the low oil prices to fill up its strategic reserves in Louisiana and Texas while supporting American shale producers in this tough time. The American government plans to purchase a total of 77 million barrels of oil starting within weeks. But according to Sankey, this can only be done at a rate of 2 million per day. The Mizuho analyst argues that the U.S strategic reserve only has four months until it hits capacity. And he believes oil prices will go negative after it fills up. This is what he predicts for the future: High-cost oil from the Bakken shale formation in the U.S. or bitumen from the Canadian oil sands, prices negatively because it exceeds needs and requires storage. Negative prices are simply a higher cost of storage than the market (price). Who Benefits From Negative Oil Prices? The American shale industry is the clear loser in the oil price war. But who is the winner? Both Saudi Arabia and Russia will see their foreign reserves rapidly deplete. And Russia could face a currency crisis much like the one it experienced in 2014. According to PBS, Russia needs an oil price of around $40 to balance its budget while Saudi Arabia needs a price of over $80 a barrel. But they both have massive foreign reserves to help weather the storm. Weaker OPEC countries like Iraq, Iran, Venezuela and Nigeria could see their economies collapse if oil prices remain suppressed over the long term.
Why Oil Prices Will Be $65 Per Barrel By the End of 2020 ForbesBooks Jay R. Sit tight and don’t panic. We’re going to be fine. We’ve been here before. I remember signs in the front yards in Midland, Texas after the 1973 Oil Embargo saying “God, Please give us higher oil prices one more time. We promise not to screw it up again”. The prices were barely in the double digits for oil however, money was plentiful. Since then, we’ve seen HUGE swings in the oil and gas markets so I wouldn’t be surprised if yard signs are being produced within the Midland/Odessa communities today because oil prices are seeing a huge dive, however, my prediction is oil will bounce back! And it won’t be because of the emotional reactions Saudi Arabia and Russia took last night, poking out their chests over production cuts. It will be because of basic supply and demand and a lot of people will be scratching their heads saying “Why didn’t I invest in the oil markets when prices were low?” My prediction of where oil prices will be by the end of the year hinges on three key factors. Why would countries continue to sell more oil for less money? We can all understand selling more oil for more money or selling less oil for less money but to sell more oil for less money doesn’t make a lot of sense for the long term. Sunday afternoon, Saudi Arabia responded to Russia by reducing their oil prices for purchase by $6-$8 less per barrel in an attempt to get Russia to come on board with oil cuts. To better understand, let’s go back to last Friday. OPEC (led by Saudi Arabia) said we (OPEC and Russia) are going to sell 1.5 million fewer barrels of oil per day on the markets in the hopes of raising oil prices. What they didn’t have confirmed at this time was Russia agreeing they would go along with this cut. Russia said they weren’t interested so prices plummeted 10% on Friday. With Saudi Arabia reducing their purchase price per barrel of oil, it will begin to have an immediate on Russia’s budgets because they are currently losing approximately $4 billion a month at the moment. Hmmm.................. Ego vs Economics? Oil wells decline in production.A majority of people do not realize that oil wells decline in production. Once a shale well has produced most of the frack water back, oil production declines as much as 60% in the first year. Once an oil well hits their peak oil and gas production rates, wells will decline as the bottom hole pressure decreases and peak or production usually occurs within the first couple of months and declines afterwards. PROMOTED Rig count is down 25%. The reason the United States is the #1 oil producer in the world is because of the number of rigs drilling for oil and gas. This is the largest driver of increased oil production and, since rig count is coming down, you will see production come down. There are 300 fewer rigs drilling for oil and gas today than there were one year ago. The rig count will continue to go down this year because the capital markets are drying up. The reason the United States has surpassed Saudi Arabia and Russia as the largest producer of oil in the world is because of shale wells in the major basins (Permian, Eagle Ford and Bakken). As mentioned, these shale wells decline in production within the first year they are drilled and with fewer rigs drilling that is a double whammy we will have to endure until the end of this year, however you will see production coming down in all of the major U.S. basins which will drive prices back up. When we see prices going back up by the end of the year (and they will), it will be a happy day for those in the Midland/Odessa communities to pull their yard signs up as Texas continues to drill for oil and gas and prices rebound.www.forbes.com/sites/forbesbooksautho...

I just.. can't move :o) the longterm value proposition is too great..
