    Blaffende honden bijten over het algemeen niet, maar schrikken wel af.
    Assad twittert nooit maar is in principe gevaarlijker voor de bevolking in zijn regio.

    Ongelooflijk wat een mafkees , die man is een grootgevaar voor onze samenleving als we niet oppassen. Voor ons misschien wel handig om er rekening mee te houden want hij roept wat, de beurs dondert in elkaar en vervolgens trekt hij het weer terug en de beurs herstelt. Kan zomaar wekelijks gebeuren. Flower Traders zal er blij mee zijn.

    Trump is een schaap die zich als een wolf wilt doen gelden.
    Assad is een wolf in schaapskleren en veel gevaarlijker voor de regio dan Trump.
    Eigenlijk is de wereld 6 jaar te laat om Assad aan te pakken.
    Overigens trekt de beurs zich steeds minder wat van aan met de twitterende Trump.

    Ik las net een stukje van een columnist op IEX die begin dit jaar een eigen hedgefund gestart is.
    Een hele mooie site met mooie verwachtingen over een klinkend rendement.

    Minimale inleg een ton, in drie maanden tijd heeft die gast ruim een derde van de waarde laten verdampen, een prestatie op zich.
    Zelf ben ik dan benieuwd hoeveel klanten hij heeft en of hij ze nog onder ogen durft te komen.

    Benieuwd of hij dit ooit terug weet te verdienen met zijn wetenschappelijke systeem.

    Op IEX was er heel wat jaren terug ook zo'n soortgelijk figuur met een Vestingingsportefeuille, hij is met de stille trom vertrokken.

    ESSEN (AFN) - ThyssenKrupp en Tata Steel vorderen met de onderhandelingen over de fusie van hun Europese activiteiten. ThyssenKrupp meldt dat de twee staalreuzen voor eind juni dan eindelijk de knoop hopen door te hakken. Aanvankelijk werd nog gesproken van eerder dit jaar.

    Het Indiase Tata en het Duitse ThyssenKrupp kondigden de deal vorig jaar aan. Er moest toen nog veel uitgewerkt worden. Volgens ingewijden waren de partijen onlangs nog steeds aan het bakkeleien over een Britse pensioenkwestie en toezeggingen over de zelfstandigheid van Tata's vestiging in IJmuiden, het vroegere Hoogovens.

    Het boekenonderzoek is nu bijna afgerond. Experts denken dat er zo'n 400 miljoen tot 600 miljoen euro aan kostenvoordelen te behalen zijn. Dat kan omdat er zo'n 4000 banen geschrapt gaan worden. Dat laatste leidde eerder tot grote onrust bij het personeel. ThyssenKrupp is er inmiddels uit met zijn vakbonden. In Nederland bereikte Tata Steel onlangs een principeakkoord, nadat duidelijk werd dat hier er hoogstens 400 arbeidsplaatsen verdwijnen. Het adviestraject met de ondernemingsraad loopt echter nog, vandaar dat de bonden hier nog geen definitief groen licht hebben gegeven.

    ArcelorMittal and JSW Steel in war of words on Twitter

    Taking its rivalry with JSW Steel on to Twitter, ArcelorMittal on Wednesday tweeted that the Sajjan Jindal company's bid for Monnet Ispat is against the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code's (IBC) Clause 29A, and is a mockery. ArcelorMittal (India) chose to air its views via its Twitter handle. Tagging the JSW Steel chairman and managing director, the world's largest steelmaker tweeted “@sajjanjindal Interesting what decision is being taken on Monnet today given it’s clear JSW runs afoul of 29A as they are related to the existing promoter….who is making the mockery here?”

    Reacting to ArcelorMittal's allegation, JSW Steel replied "JSW Steel has gone through the rigour of scrutiny. After the thorough examination of facts, JSW Steel is declared as qualified resolution applicant as per the provisions of sec 29(A) of Insolvency and bankruptcy code (IBC) 2016 not only in Monnet but in other stressed accounts. The intention of unfounded allegations may be to defame JSW Steel or probably using an insufficient or incorrect interpretation of information to mislead the general public. JSW Steel adheres to highest standards of corporate governance."

    Both the companies are in the race for Essar Steel. While ArcelorMittal has partnered with Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal, JSW Steel is an investor in the Numetal consortium.

    worldsteel announces the 2017 Steel Sustainability Champions

    The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has announced the 2017 Steel Sustainability Champions at its board meeting in Mumbai. Six steel producing companies have been named as Steel Sustainability Champions for 2017. The newly launched programme aims to recognise steel companies who are leading the way in creating a truly sustainable steel industry and society, clearly demonstrating their commitment to sustainable development and the circular economy, and making measurable and tangible impacts in their activities. It aims to encourage steel companies to increase their efforts, set higher standards and make further progress in their sustainability programmes and business practices.

    The 2017 Steel Sustainability Champions are:
    ArcelorMittal
    Tata Steel Europe
    Tata Steel Limited
    Tenaris
    thyssenkrupp AG
    voestalpine AG

    Dr Edwin Basson, Director General of worldsteel said, “as producers of steel, we know that a sustainable steel industry is crucial for the long-term health of our economy, our society and our planet. And every steel company has a responsibility to help achieve this. Many members of worldsteel have already demonstrated their commitment to sustainable development and made extensive efforts in their sustainability programmes. As an industry, we have made progress. But we need to do more and go further. Sustainability is a core business requirement, vital to a company’s continuing license to operate. An ethically and socially responsible approach can act as a competitive advantage for forward-thinking steel companies."

    ArcelorMittal in trouble with default in Liberian concession agreement
    Mining News - Published on Thu, 12 Apr 2018

    GNN Liberia reported that ArcelorMittal has being summoned by the Government of Liberia for allegedly defaulting in the concession agreement signed between it and the Government. The default has been going out for more than three years, a senior government official noted. According to Mr Nathaniel McGill, the Minister for State and Presidential Affairs, the company has reneged on its social responsibility of constructing and paving the Ganta-to-Yekepa road and install an iron ore processing plant, which will produce iron from ore extracted from the mines in Liberia.

    Mr McGill disclosed that “Mittal Steel has to come to tell us why it has not done the things they said they will do. Why they haven’t installed the ore plant and paved the road they promised to pave in the concession agreement. We have invited them and they will be meeting with the government legal team headed by Cllr Musa Dean, the Justice Minister.”

    In 2005, ArcelorMittal and the Liberian Government signed the first Mineral Development Agreement to allow the company to begin mining iron ore in Yekepa, Nimba County. This agreement was then renegotiated and amended in 2006.

    The MDA carries stringent conditions regarding sustainable development and economic, social and environmental investment. Its aim is to ensure that, while foreign companies are able to generate a profit from their investment in the extraction of Liberia’s resources, the country and its citizens must benefit as well.

    Among other things, it stipulates that ArcelorMittal contributes USD 3 million a year to the county social development fund for Nimba, Bong and Grand Bassa Counties. This money, which covers the 25-year expected life-of-mine will total USD 75 million and will be used to drive community development projects that will uplift and improve the lives of local people.

    The company is also required to establish and maintain medical and education facilities in all areas of operation, to serve employees, their families and the broader community, and to prioritize the employment and development of Liberians.
