ING rondt overname CitiStreet af (MORE TO FOLLOW) Dow Jones Newswires

ING DIRECT receives regulatory approval for public takeover bid for Germany’s largest mortgage distributor Interhyp Amsterdam, 14 July 2008 ING DIRECT N.V. announced today that it has received regulatory approval from the Dutch Central Bank for the public takeover bid for Interhyp AG, Germany’s largest independent residential mortgage distributor. The public takeover bid is therefore no longer subject to any completion conditions. The Interhyp public tender offer acceptance period expires on July 24th. ING DIRECT has no minimum requirement for the number of shares that need to be tendered. ING DIRECT announced its intention to make a public takeover bid for Interhyp on May 19th. The tender offer was launched on June 20th at EUR 64 per share, valuing the company at EUR 416 million. In addition, Interhyp shareholders were still entitled to the dividend of Interhyp AG for the fiscal year 2007 in the amount of EUR 2.10 per share, plus an additional one time payment of EUR 2.00 per share, which have already been distributed following the shareholder's meeting of Interhyp on 4 June 2008. This transaction will be booked in the third quarter of 2008.
((ANP Redactie Economie, email economie(at)anp.nl, +31 20 504 5999))
ING India unit offers global commodities fund Mon Jul 28, 2008 5:00pm IST Email | Print | Share| Single Page[-] Text [+] MUMBAI, July 28 (Reuters) - The Indian fund unit of ING Groep (ING.AS: Quote, Profile, Research) launched a global commodities fund of funds on Monday, as part of a strategy to expand its basket of global products targeted at Indians looking to diversify abroad. ING OptiMix Global Commodities Fund will invest in funds from global asset managers such as Credit Suisse, First State, Martin Currie, Societe Generale, Fortis and JP Morgan. Commodities bull run is here to stay for years as rapidly growing emerging economies create multi-trillion-dollar demand in the next five years, said Arvind Bansal, chief investment officer for multi manager products at ING Investment Management (India). Indian investors, fighting inflation and sliding stock values, should also invest in commodities as the asset class was a hedge against inflation, had a low correlation to stocks and offers a potential upside at current prices, he added. The commodities boom, which began in 1999-2000, is secular and would be fuelled by an estimated $2.5 trillion spending on infrastructure in BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) and other emerging countries, he said. "Historically, the commodity cycle lasts for a minimum 13-14 years... There are many years to go," Bansal, who manages 8 billion rupees for the fund unit, said. He said the incremental demand was coming from emerging economies, who are expected to consume more than half of steel, cement and copper produced globally by 2022. "If we believe that India and China are going to grow continuously over the next 20-25 years, the demand for commodity is not going to slowdown," he said, adding the boom would get support from institutional investors looking to allocate more money to commodities. The fund is one of the 10 global funds that the fund house plans [ID:nBOM18574] to launch over the next year. (Reporting by Nishant Kumar; editing by Prem Udayabhanu)
ING to expand global funds offerings in India push Thu Jul 24, 2008 3:46pm IST Email | Print | Share| Single Page[-] Text [+] By Nishant Kumar MUMBAI (Reuters) - The Indian fund unit of ING Groep plans to launch 10 global funds over the next year to tap domestic investors who are increasingly looking to diversify abroad, a top executive said on Thursday. "Our prognosis is that this market is going to become far more global than people are beginning to realise," Vineet Vohra, chief executive at ING Investment Management (India), said. The firm bets that the superior performance of existing global funds this year will convince local investors send more money abroad and India's market regulator will allow funds to invest more than the current limit of $7 billion overseas. ING's local unit, which currently manages $2 billion of assets, will launch its third international product next week and roll out nine more chasing the European, Chinese and Asian markets over the next year, Vohra said. "This market is going to have perhaps as much money invested offshore as invested onshore in five years," the former Citibank executive, who aims to have half his firm's assets in global funds in five years, told Reuters in an interview. Investors had been obsessed with local stocks so far, as it was easy to make money during the five-year bull run, he said. "I don't think it's going to be that easy to make money in future," Vohra added. "The return to normalcy of the Indian markets is a blessing." India's main stock index has shrunk more than a fourth this year after rising 47 percent last year, clocking six straight years of gain. Funds investing locally have seen their net values plunge by more than a third, while globally-invested funds are down just 7.5 percent, according to data from fund tracker Lipper. ILLUSION "The infallibility of Indian markets has turned out to be an illusion. Perhaps I think people have realised," Vohra said, adding it was easier now to convince people that there were other ways and geographies to make money. After years of restricting fund investment abroad, India threw open the floodgates in 2006, allowing the industry to collectively invest up to $2 billion overseas. It has gradually raised the industry limit to $7 billion with quota for individual fund houses fixed at $300 million. But the regulator has granted additional $300 million to those exhausting their quota. ING expects the limit would be raised further. "I am pretty sure that it will continue to lead the actual utilisation," Vohra, who started his professional career as an engineer building trucks for Tata Motors (TAMO.BO: Quote, Profile, Research), said. India had more than 20 funds investing overseas, managing over $2 billion at the end of June, more than four times the amount they held two years ago, when there were only two such funds, data from fund tracker ICRA Online showed. "We have sent our people to the best universities, one of the best hospitals, we have visited the best places... may be people will have to be shown how there are better things than just being in a single country portfolio," Vohra said.
Financial Network Investment Corporation Celebrates 25th Anniversary Recruiting strong - three large new groups joining the firm EL SEGUNDO, Calif., July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Financial Network Investment Corporation (Financial Network) celebrates its 25th anniversary this month at its national planning conference, which began yesterday in Washington, D.C. More than 1,000 Financial Network representatives are attending the conference. "Financial Network has seen strong success by providing local, hands-on support to the reps it serves," said John Simmers, CEO of ING Advisors Network and a founding partner of Financial Network. "That support continues to grow as we leverage the scale and resources of ING, one of the world's 10 largest companies(1). The reps of Financial Network and our other broker-dealers, ING Financial Partners, Multi-Financial Securities and PRIMEVEST Financial Services, can tap world-class research, ING Trust company, an integrated technology platform and a robust advisory program, that differentiates them and helps them better serve their clients." The California-based broker-dealer was created in 1983 with 12 groups of practices or "regions" with approximately 400 representatives. This structure provides the registered representatives a high level of local support, while letting the broker-dealer handle compliance and back-office operations. Many regions provide additional marketing and sales assistance, practice-management support, training and infrastructure to help reps build their businesses. In the current environment, this structure has enabled smaller broker-dealers or larger practices to join Financial Network as a region while keeping their business model intact. Today, the broker-dealer has 35 regions and approximately 2,200 producing reps. "Financial Network continues to thrive as a result of the principles instilled by the founders, which are helping reps succeed through a team-oriented regional structure," said Jack Handy, president and CEO of Financial Network. "Our culture particularly serves us well in the current environment as smaller broker-dealers are increasingly choosing to join Financial Network so that they can focus on their practices and leave the larger compliance and technology issues to us." Financial Network said recruiting has been strong during this milestone year. The firm recently added 30 reps with approximately $17.5 million of production as a new region within the broker-dealer. The new region, known as "The Leader Board" region, is primarily located in California, with offices in Arizona, Texas and Utah. The region's average rep, mostly fee-based, has over $600,000 of annual production. Additionally, the broker-dealer plans to announce two more recruiting deals totalling over $35 million in annualized production in the coming month. About Financial Network Financial Network Investment Corporation, member SIPC, has a unique model that creates a dynamic environment of teamwork through the local service of its regional offices, the national support of its home office and the global scope of its parent company, ING. With this structure, Financial Network is able to build and support extraordinary regional teams, making it easier for its 2,600 financial professionals in the U.S. and Puerto Rico to succeed. In addition to its independent representative offices, Financial Network provides third-party marketing services to banks and credit unions through its Financial Institutions Division.
