    @03har,
    Arcelormittal is bezig overal EAF te installeren om hun CO2 afdruk te verminderen maar je hebt gezegd dat het staal dat daaruit voortvloeit niet echt geschikt is voor automotive.

    Hoe zie jij dit in het plaatje evolueren zodat arcelormittal toch leidinggevend kan blijven in de automotive branche.

    Mvg

    @Christo1
    Koolstof staal uit erts/hoogovens is het meest zuivere staal, het is via toeslagen thermische en mechanische behandelingen het staal de gevraagde eigenschappen te geven. Een eerste vereiste voor met name de automotive buitendelen zoals moterkap, deuren a en d spanten, flanken enz.
    Deze delen stellen hoge eisen, en moeten dun (laag gewicht) en sterk (velig), vlak en een egaal oppervlak hebben met de juiste matering

    E.A.F.’s werden altijd gebruik om schrot weer opnieuw in te zetten, als grondstof voor nieuw staal.
    Maar je kunt de samenstelling van het schrot moeilijk bepalen. Het zijn immers legeringen van vorig gebruiksdoel.
    Daardoor zijn de eigenschappen van EAF staal alleen via thermische en mechanische bewerking te veranderen en minder door toeslagen, dit is in veel gevallen onvoldoende voor de automitive industrie.

    Daarom wordt schrot ook in 3 kwaliteiten verhandeld, het eigen (schone) schrot uit de walserijen, shredded schrot, en groot schrot, veelal gegoten stukken. Zie ook de prijslijst die mvliex altijd post.
    Men gaat tegenwoordig steeds meer voorbewerkt erts {zuiverHB en DR ijzer) gebruiken als deel van de EAF voeding dus samen met (vuil) schrot om toch een zuiverder staal te krijgen noodzakelijk voor de automotive industrie.

    DRI en HBI zijn producten gemaakt van ijzererts (direct gereduceerd) dus zonder de kooks.(CO2 ) die nodig is bij indirect reduceren in hoogovens.

    Beursblik: experts razend enthousiast voor december
    zondag 3 december 2023
    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Beursexperts zijn voor december "razend enthousiast". Dit bleek zondag uit de maandelijks enquête van analist Corné van Zeijl van Cardano.
    Voor de laatste maand van 2023 is maar liefst 58,5 procent van de experts positief gestemd. En slechts 9,4 procent verwacht een daling.
    Het optimisme volgt na een heel sterke maand. In november won de AEX 6,5 procent. "Het gemiddelde AEX-aandeel ging zelfs met 11 procent omhoog", aldus Van Zeijl.
    Opvallend is dat de experts die optimistische lijn niet doortrekken naar de komende zes maanden. "Sterker nog daar zijn ze juist wat minder optimistisch geworden. 36 procent verwacht een stijging en 15 procent een daling. Dus per saldo 21 procent meer optimisten dan pessimisten. Vorige maand was dat saldo nog 24 procent", aldus Van Zeijl.
    Top & flop
    De topper in december wordt volgens de beursexperts ASML. Verder zien de experts het zitten in NN Group, Ahold Delhaize en Prosus.
    Philips is met stip het aandeel dat beleggers moeten mijden, aldus de experts. Daarnaast is er ook weinig enthousiasme over ArcelorMittal, KPN en Wolters Kluwer.

    ArcelorMittal's Bosnia Plant: Demand-Driven Suspension
    By Strategic Research Institute on Dec 04, 2023 10:36 am

    Synopsis:

    Amid a demand slump in Europe, ArcelorMittal temporarily halts steel production at its Bosnia plant. Low European demand, worsened by the Russian-Ukraine conflict aftermath, energy price hikes, and inflation surge, led to this decision. With local reports of strikes for higher wages, the move raises concerns about potential impacts on steel prices and the workforce's future.

    Article

    ArcelorMittal, a key steel producer, ceased operations at its Bosnia plant owing to dwindling European demand. The plant, annually producing 700,000 metric tons of liquid steel and employing 2,200 workers, faced challenges post-Russia's conflict in Ukraine. High energy costs and inflation added to this, compelling the temporary halt.

    The plant in Zenica initiated the shutdown on November 11, citing low demand as the driving force. The management downscaled operations systematically while assuring employees of a possible resumption when demand regains stability.

    Local sources reported strikes by long steel product workers, seeking increased pay despite the company's 32% wage rise since 2020, aligning with inflation. The halt's potential impact on steel prices and the industry's stability remains uncertain.

    Multiple factors contributed to ArcelorMittal's decision, reflected in its recent 6.44% drop in net income, attributing the decline to reduced steel shipments. Operational income decreased to $1.2 billion in Q3 2023, prompted by a -3.7% sequential steel shipment decrease and adverse price-cost effects.

    ArcelorMittal's rationale for suspending Bosnia operations centered on the drastic demand downturn in late 2023, fueled by ongoing economic uncertainty, inflation, and EU-imposed sales constraints. The competition from cheaper Turkish steel imports compounded the challenges, intensifying the industry's struggles.

    Conclusion:

    The Bosnia plant's suspension underscores the multifaceted challenges facing ArcelorMittal and the steel industry, impacting both production and labor welfare. The fluctuations in demand and international market dynamics pose significant uncertainties, potentially reshaping steel prices and market dynamics.
