A rising workload in Devon and Cornwall has prompted BAM to arrange events to expand its supply chain.

BAM Construction has just secured a place on the new Southern Construction Framework, in addition to its work on the Living Systems Building for Exeter University, Newton Abbott’s new UTC and Cornwall Council’s new offices in Bodmin.

It is now seeking to hear from companies across the Cornwall and Devon regions providing services such as bricklaying, groundworks, carpentry, metalworks, plastering, drylining, landscaping, flooring, electrical, joinery, windows and glazing.

Graham Kingdon, the Exeter-based construction director for BAM, said: “BAM is taking the chance to invite new firms to work with us as our portfolio across Devon and Cornwall continues to expand. There isn’t an area we don’t build in across the West Country. So we are encouraging firms in this part of the country to come and meet us and tell us what they can do.”

The company has arranged two events for local companies to attend, on 15 April at Truro Golf Club and 6 May at Exeter Racecourse,

Skanska/BAM gets green light for £85m Ordsall Chord
    Aaron Morby | Thu 26th March | 7:03

Manchester’s £85m Ordsall Chord railway project has finally been given the go-ahead by Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin.

The original aim was to begin construction on the project in late 2014 or early 2015, but the planning process has significantly delayed the timescale.

But now the Transport Secretary has issued a Transport and Works Act Order, with minor modifications, that paves the way to link Victoria, Oxford Road and Piccadilly stations for the first time.

Network Rail has been working on the designs of the scheme with a joint venture between Skanska and Bam Nuttall under an ECI arrangement.

The 340m long viaduct will join the Bolton line with the Chat Moss line, crossing the Irwell on a new bridge.

The go-ahead for the scheme, which follows a detailed enquiry, will see the compulsory purchase and demolition of homes close to the route, once a works contract is formally signed to meet planning requirements.
