hieronder nogmaals de tekst van de op 20 maart j.l. door Julio Faerman geplaatste advertentie in een braziliaanse krant. Hij klinkt stellig, de vraag is of zijn boekhouding overeind blijft onder al het onderzoeksgeweld.

247 - The businessman Julio Faerman, former director of Petrobras and partner at Oildrive, which has been accused of brokering payments of bribes to company executives defended the charges in space acquired in the newspaper Valor Economico. Read below his outburst:
A warning to good men
I'm 75 and I work for at least 50 years in the oil. I'm an electrical engineer with postgraduate studies in that activity. My career started in the 60s. Went gazetted employee of Petrobras. For some years, was one of the processes responsible for workover - interventions in oil wells - and completion in the city of Catu interior of Bahia. I was forced to resign prematurely because my oldest son was suffering at the time from a disease brought about by the lack of treated water in the city.
I stopped being an employee of Petrobras - one of the proudest of my life - but I have not departed from the oil activity. I was then hired by a company that made what is known in the oil industry as a 'Christmas tree. "They were installed on fields located on land, at a time still distant prevalence of maritime exploration. Due to the accumulated technical knowledge, directed my efforts to create urn consultancy that could guide the major players in the segment, especially those interested in joining activity on Brazilian soil.
I stopped being an employee of Petrobras - one of the proudest of my life - but I have not departed from the oil activity. I was then hired by a company that made what is known in the oil industry as a 'Christmas tree .. They were installed on fields located onshore, in a still distant prevalence of maritime exploration season.
Then founded in 1975, Serpetro. Twenty years later, came the Faercom and in 2006, the Oildrive. Over nearly 40 years, contributed to tens of thousands of jobs were generated and tens of billions of dollars were invested in Brazil because of the activities arising from these resources. Companies in which I worked and still accounted represent some of the largest providers of services and suppliers of equipment for the oil and gas industry.
Two years ago, I decided to retire. The company management was the responsibility of my former partners, since I retired societies. The retirement coincided with the end of the partnership with SBM, the company that had the honor to represent for 30 years and it has taken a strategic decision to move into acting globally from own-structures. Today I live in London and keep the apartment in Rio de Janeiro. My family lives in Rio and I usually visit them whenever possible.
Throughout my professional career, my name was never associated with any unflattering practice. Always deserved recognition of my business partners, clients, colleagues and friends. In recent days, however, my honor has been severely attacked. The supposed source was a former employee of a company that was represented by my company for about 30 years. This former employee of SBM, according to the report of that same company, tried to extort her before making public the allegations that are now accepted and conveyed lightly. There is no other source, no proof, nothing. As a report of a criminal.
Because of this, all my professional life has been systematically disqualified in the last 30 days. A photo taken at the seventieth birthday of my wife is used with the goal of exposing myself to ridicule and derision. Now I'm no longer portrayed as an engineer or entrepreneur, but as "lobbyist" or "facilitator buttons." From one moment to another, my life became the subject of scrutiny and investigation.
My relationship with Petrobras never stopped being technical, and why that company is a business partner for decades, regardless of the political scene. I am not so naive as to imagine that the complaints that reach me today are immune to political interests. It is also not unreasonable to imagine that there is a company interested in warding off the size of SBM in future biddings. It has been said that orders for SBM grew in the second half of the last decade. Nobody bothered to inform these orders accompanied the boom caused by the discoveries of new oil provinces off the Brazilian coast, with emphasis on the pre-salt. And the use of FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading of oil and gas platforms) is that it makes more sense to the characteristics of the Brazilian market, where fields predominate away from shore, deep water depths and lack logistics for the flow. Petrobras is a world leader in deepwater exploration and developed a special expertise in the use of FPSO platforms. And SBM, in turn, is one of the few companies in the world qualified to perform such complex projects related to this type of unit.
It is impossible not to speculate on what has so far taken a surreal process that is accused of brokering an alleged payment of bribes. Who was paid? When? How? Where? There is nothing, just a lie placed on wikipedia. As of this posting, the name of a Petrobras director whose impeccable integrity and a long record of services rendered to that company are fully aware of the entire market for oil and gas has been mentioned. The mention of his name should serve to disqualify any charge, never the opposite.
What has happened to me should be a warning to all good citizens, particularly those who decided one day become entrepreneurs and to specialize in so prosperous market as oil and gas. From night to day, one built over 50 years of professional activity reputation is kept in check by the work of a criminal. And a businessman who always acted with honesty and preserved in their business ethics is seen in virtually converted protagonist of "The Trial" by Kafka.
The fact is that I see myself subjected to a process of public mockery that feeds all the time. My former partners have sought to clarify their customers about what is happening in Brazil, but only the confidence of many years of relationship will be able to preserve intact the business ties in the face of such a negative public exposure. Even before all this, I fear nothing. An exempt research, apolitical, technical, will be the largest referendum could wish my honor and professional conduct of which I am proud. I always tried to convey the best values ??to my children and grandchildren. Are just some questions: what will be reported after all the investigations are complete? Who will be liable for damages caused to me, my family and my former partners and their companies? There will be a public apology? I'm very skeptical of that. At age 75, my feeling is that the mission to fully clear my name of all that dirt will be delegated to my children and grandchildren.
