    Putting solar panels on new homes could triple US solar capacity

    If builders start putting solar panels on all new American homes in 2020, the United States could more than triple its current solar power capacity by 2045, according to a new report released today by Environment America Research & Policy Center. Such a policy could also cut current annual carbon dioxide emissions from electricity generation by more than 9 percent by 2045.

    Mr Bret Fanshaw, Go Solar Campaign director with Environment America Research & Policy Center said that “Every home and structure built without solar is a missed opportunity. Generating renewable energy from our rooftops helps homeowners and their communities, reducing both electric bills and pollution.”

    In May, California became the first state to propose building all new homes with solar panels, a policy which would go into effect in 2020. The state energy commission estimates that a solar homes policy, coupled with energy efficiency improvements, will save homeowners USD 19,000 in energy and maintenance costs over the course of a typical 30-year mortgage double what they would add to the cost of a home. Later this week, the California Building Standards Commission will meet to review the proposal.

    Mr Abi Bradford, policy analyst and report co-author with Frontier Group said that "The new National Climate Assessment makes it clear that we need to stop burning fossil fuels as soon as possible, and solar energy is key to that transition. Installing solar panels on all new homes could add more solar energy capacity than the entire country currently has installed including utility-scale installations in just six years from 2020 to 2026.”

    The fastest-growing states would add the most solar energy if the policy were adopted, with Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia and Arizona ranked at the top. The report also provides state-by-state estimates for the potential reductions in carbon emissions.

    Mr Fanshaw said that “We can have solar-powered communities right now and for years to come with smart policy choices. And the most efficient time to install solar panels is when workers are already on the roof.”

    Mueller might soon bring charges that even Trump die-hards can’t trivialize

    There are concrete indications that special counsel Robert S. Mueller III is now about the business of laying down the last big pieces of the puzzle of Russian intervention in the 2016 election.

    Mueller already has done the difficult digging on the Russian side of the equation, bringing detailed indictments in February 2018 for a wide-ranging Russian trolling operation related to the campaign, as well as the July 2016 hacking of Democratic Party emails. Now he’s looking to tie those allegations to people close to the Trump campaign.

    The upshot may be allegations of “collusion,” of the sort the president has long denied. The actual charges are likely to be one of three criminal conspiracies: violating federal election laws, violating computer laws, or soliciting or receiving something of value from a foreign government. Charges, in other words, that not even the most ardent Trump die-hard could trivialize. They bring with them the possibility that Mueller might opt to name President Trump himself as an unindicted co-conspirator.

    Even if Mueller is not about to close up shop, it is increasingly likely that the full contours of his inquiry will be sketched out and known to the public by year’s end. For the president and his circle, it is not shaping up to be a pretty picture.

    Mr Cohen lied to congress to cover up Mr Trump’s Moscow tower deal

    The daily Beast reported that President Mr Donald Trump’s former attorney lied to Congress about his role in pursuing a business deal in Russia for his old boss, covering up that discussions stretched into the 2016 presidential campaign and even reached the Kremlin. Mr Michael Cohen pleaded guilty in a Manhattan federal courtroom on Thursday to one count of making a false statement to Congress last year when he told lawmakers about his efforts to secure a deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Cohen’s plea was part of a deal he struck with special counsel Robert Mueller’s office that included significant cooperation with the investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia during the presidential campaign.

    In an August 2017 letter sent to the House and Senate intelligence committees, Cohen said plans for a Moscow tower had ended shortly before Trump competed in the Republican presidential primaries. “By the end of January 2016, I determined that the proposal was not feasible for a variety of business reasons and should not be pursued further,” Cohen wrote.

    But prosecutors say Cohen continued to discuss the proposal throughout the primaries and into the general-election season with Trump’s former business partner, the real-estate developer and convicted felon Felix Sater.

    Mr Cohen also told the Senate Intelligence Committee he did not discuss the project extensively within the Trump Organization. In fact, Mueller’s office said, Cohen discussed the project with Trump more than three times and “briefed family members of” Trump about it.

    Mr Cohen told Congress that he “never agreed to make a trip to Russia” about the proposal, but emails with Sater show Cohen repeatedly agreeing to Sater’s proposal for a trip to Moscow to seal the deal.

    Mr Cohen wrote to Sater in May 2016, two months before the Republican National Convention, “ASSUMING the trip does happen the question is before or after the convention,” adding Trump might potentially go to Moscow and meet Russian President Vladimir Putin around that time.

    Trump Trade War - China to cut tariffs on US made cars – Mr Trump

    The Star Online reported that US President Donald Trump said that China had agreed to cut import tariffs on American-made cars, a potential boon for automakers including Tesla Inc and BMW who manufacture in the United States for export to China. Mr Trump, fresh from agreeing a 90-day cease-fire in his trade war with China at the meeting of the G20, said on Twitter that "China has agreed to reduce and remove tariffs on cars coming into China from the US Currently the tariff is 40%."

    The move, if realized, would bolster US car manufacturers who were hit hard when China ramped up levies on US-made cars in July as part of a broad package of retaliatory tariffs amid a sprawling trade war between Washington and Beijing.

    China, the world's largest auto market, raised tariffs on US auto imports to 40 per cent in July, forcing many carmakers to hike prices in a major hit to the roughly USD 10 billion worth of passenger vehicles the United States sent to China last year.

    Goed zo, Henk 38. Optimistisch Trump blijven steunen.

    Er zijn er maar een paar voor het gerecht gedaagd voor liegen:

    Paul Manafort: liegen plus FARA(foreign agency registration act) ontduiking plus witwassen van $60 miljoen via Cyprus. Beloofde mee te werken aan het onderzoek van Mueller. Mueller verklaarde recentelijk , dat ondanks zijn belofte mee te werken, Manafort blijkt te liegen met de info die hij geeft. Vrijdag as komt Mueller met een verklaring omtrent Manafort.

    Michael Flynn: Heeft gelogen en spijt hierover betuigd. Vervolgens volledige medewerking aan het onderzoek beloofd. Begin deze week kwam Mueller met een verklaring: Flynn heeft onjuiste dingen gedaan, maar is tot inzicht gekomen. Op basis van zijn volledige medewerking en het geven van belangrijke info, vraagt Mueller om een straf van 0 tot Max 6 maanden. Een grote beloning voor Flynn omdat hij volledig meewerkt.
    Er resten nog drie zaken: een zaak met crimineel karakter, waarvan de details met zwarte inkt onleesbaar zijn geworden. Een rechtszaak ivm met Russia collusion. En een zaak , die nog onduidelijk is omdat deze met zwarte inkt onleesbaar is gemaakt.

    Michael Cohen: Deze is bereid tot volledige medewerking met het Mueller onderzoek.

    Dit is geen zaak van linkse rakkers tegen eerlijke rechtse politici. Dit is een zaak van justitie tegen mensen die de wet hebben overtreden.

    Mueller komt nog niet met zware strafeisen. Mueller houdt zijn kaarten tegen zijn borst , zodat Trump et al, niet weten waarop zij aangevallen kunnen worden door justitie. Trump et al zouden wel willen , dat Mueller al zijn kaarten op tafel legt, zodat zij bewijsmateriaal kunnen laten verdwijnen, zich juridisch kunnen voorbereiden of de publieke opinie manipuleren tegen dit bewijsmateriaal. Stap voor stap komt team Trump steeds verder in een hoekje.

    Vrijdag horen we wat Mueller omtrent Paul Manafort heeft mee te delen.

    Vergeet ook niet dat deze week de rechtszaak naar Jeffrey Epstein is begonnen. Dit betreft misbruik van minderjarige meisjes. Afhankelijk van de ontwikkeling van deze rechtszaak, en hoe of de pers hierop reageert heeft dit mogelijk repercussies voor Trump. Trump is/was een zeer goede vriend van Epstein. Er was een rechtszaak in 2016 wegens verkrachting van een 13/14 jarig meisje door Donald Trump in een locatie van Epstein. Deze zaak is geseponeerd. Mogelijk heeft het meisje (inmiddels vrouw in 2016) de zaak laten seponeren ivm ernstige intimidatie. Misschien komt Donald s betrokkenheid hierin de komende dagen ook naar voren.

    Overigens heeft Mueller een duidelijke boodschap afgegeven inzake de zaak Michael Flynn. Flynn heeft ingezien fout gehandeld te hebben en is verder bereid mee te werken. Beloning : Geen tot korte celstraf geeist.

    We zullen zien of andere mensen deze boodschap begrepen hebben. Het is beter tot inkeer te komen en je te melden bij Mueller. Mueller zal dan clementie tonen met de veroordelingseis. Nota bene: reken niet op een presidentieel pardon van Donald Trump, want die zal je nooit krijgen.

    Bij nadere reflectie, moet ik toegeven dat jij hierin gelijk hebt. Maar dat was dacht ik nog niet zo lang geleden.

    Misschien dat Trump het voorstel van Voda dan wel in overweging neemt. Het lijkt me stug, maar bij Trump is niets voorspelbaar. AB voor jouw opmerking.

    je kunt niet langer stellen dat de Democraten bijna net zo rechts zijn als de Republikeien.
    De Republikeinen zijn niet langer conservatief, maar authoritair. Fascistisch wellicht?

    Ondetussen neemt binnen de Dem partij de invloed van de linkerkant toe,

    Wisconsin, Missesota (zie artikel in VOX). North Carolina stemfraude.
