    BP verkoopt Noordzee-activiteiten

    Transactie kent waarde van 250 miljoen dollar.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) BP heeft zijn onshore en offshore oliepijplijnen onder de activiteiten van Forties verkocht aan INEOS voor een bedrag van in totaal 250 miljoen dollar. Dit maakte de Britse oliereus maandag bekend.

    INEOS betaalt 125 miljoen dollar voor het Forties Pipeline System van BP en zal bovendien in de komende zeven jaar tot 125 miljoen dollar aan toekomstige winsten uit het project uitkeren aan de Britse oliereus. BP behoudt de rechten om gebruik te mogen maken van de pijplijnen.

    Het aandeel BP steeg maandagochtend met 1,3 procent.

    SHANGHAI (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - Oliereus BP verkoopt zijn belang van 50 procent die het houdt in petrochemiebedrijf Secco aan zijn Chinese branchegenoot Sinopec. De verkoop levert de Britten 1,7 miljard dollar op, zo werd donderdag bekendgemaakt.

    Secco is een joint venture van BP, Sinopec en petrochemiebedrijf SPC. BP wil de transactie nog dit jaar afronden. De deal is nog wel afhankelijk van de gebruikelijke goedkeuring van toezichthouders.

    BP wil dit jaar 4,5 miljard tot 5,5 miljard dollar aan bezittingen van de hand doen. Het geld dat daarmee wordt opgehaald zal worden gebruikt om de schade van de olieramp in de Golf van Mexico te vergoeden. BP reserveerde daarvoor eerder al 50 miljard dollar.

    BP oil spill did USD 17.2 billion of damage to natural resources - Study

    According to a new study released on the seventh anniversary of the largest oil spill in US history, the 2010 BP oil spill caused damages worth $17.2 billion to the natural resources in the Gulf of Mexico. This is the first comprehensive appraisal of the financial value of the natural resources damaged by the 134- million-gallon Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster on April 20, 2010 that killed 11 people.

    Mr Kevin Boyle, professor in the Virginia Tech College of Agriculture and Life Science in the US, said that "This is proof that our natural resources have an immense monetary value to citizens of the US who visit the Gulf and to those who simply care that this valuable resource is not damaged."

    The scientists developed a survey to put a dollar value on the natural resources damaged by the BP Deepwater spill by determining household willingness to pay for measures that would prevent similar damages should a spill of the same magnitude happen in the future.

    Survey information included descriptions of damaged beaches, marshes, animals, fish, and coral.

    On top of estimating the impact of the spill, the $17.2 billion represents the benefits to the public to protect against damages that could result from a future oil spill in the Gulf of a similar magnitude.

    In May 2010, one month after the spill, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration commissioned a group of 18 researchers to put a dollar value on the natural resources damaged by the BP Deepwater spill.

    To estimate Gulf Coast resource values, researchers created a scenario in which people were told that they could have a role in mitigating future damages by effectively paying for a prevention programme.

    Final analysis showed that the average household was willing to pay $153 for a prevention programme. This rate was then multiplied by the number of households sampled to get the final valuation of $17.2 billion.

    Last year, the oil and gas firm BP agreed to pay over $20 billion to the American government as damages over the oil spill.

    Mr Boyle said that "The results were eye-opening in that we could tell how much people really value marine resources and ecosystems. And even more meaningful because we did additional analysis that proved the legitimacy of oft-criticised values for environmental resources."

    The project team administered surveys to a large random sample of American adults nation-wide after three years of survey development.

    The first round of surveys was administered face-to-face with trained interviewers while the remaining surveys were completed via mail.

    Nieuwe techniek levert BP hogere reserves op

    200 miljoen vaten extra olie ontdekt.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) BP heeft meer reserves in de Golf van Mexico. Dit maakte de Britse oliereus donderdag bekend.

    Uit nieuw seismisch onderzoek bleek dat de reserves van het Atlantis-veld 200 miljoen vaten groter zijn dan gedacht.

    "Deze technologische doorbraak heeft het ons team mogelijk gemaakt om een nieuw olieveld te vinden binnen ons bestaande Atlantis-veld", aldus BP.

    Na dit succes zal BP ook de andere velden in de Golf van Mexico, maar ook velden in bijvoorbeeld Angola onderzoeken.

    BP buigt verlies om in nettowinst

    Omzet en productie stijgen op jaarbasis flink.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) BP heeft in het eerste kwartaal van dit jaar een verlies weten om te buigen in winst. Dit bleek dinsdag voorbeurs uit de resultaten van de Britse energiereus.

    BP boekte in het afgelopen kwartaal een winst van 1.449 miljoen dollar, tegen een verlies van 583 miljoen dollar in dezelfde periode een jaar eerder.

    De RC-winst, ofwel replacement cost profit, een maatstaf waarbij rekening wordt gehouden met de fluctuaties in de olieprijs, bedroeg in het eerste kwartaal 1.412 miljoen dollar, in vergelijking tot een verlies van 485 miljoen dollar een jaar eerder.

    De omzet steeg in de eerste drie maanden van het jaar van 39,2 miljard dollar naar 56,4 miljard dollar.

    De productie nam afgelopen kwartaal toe met 5 procent ten opzichte van dezelfde periode een jaar eerder.

    BP wil een kwartaaldividend van 10 cent uitkeren aan aandeelhouders, vergelijkbaar met het dividend uit eerdere kwartalen.

    Outlook

    Bij publicatie van de jaarcijfers stelde BP te mikken op een onderliggende productie die hoger zal zijn dan in 2016, afhankelijk van de precieze timing van de start van projecten, overnames, desinvesteringen, OPEC-quota en de toewijzing onder bestaande samenwerkingsverbanden.

    Daarnaast meldde BP te verwachten dat de raffinagemarges en activiteiten in het tweede kwartaal van 2017 op eenzelfde niveau zullen noteren als in het eerste kwartaal.

    Het aandeel BP sloot vrijdag 0,3 procent hoger.

    LONDEN (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - Het Britse olieconcern BP heeft een project in de Noordzee opgestart waarvan de productie in 2013 werd stilgelegd. Het gaat om het Quad 204-project, wat betrekking heeft op de herontwikkelde olievelden Schiehallion en Loyal bij de Shetlandeilanden.

    BP en zijn partners investeerden 4,4 miljard pond (5 miljard euro) in het project. Dat geld werd onder meer gebruikt voor een nieuw productie- en opslagschip dat is gebouwd door het Koreaanse Hyundai. De productie uit de velden moet dit jaar worden opgevoerd tot 130.000 vaten per dag.

    Er wordt verwacht dat de levensduur van de velden tot minstens 2035 zal lopen. Naar verwachting bevatten de velden 450 miljoen vaten aan reserves. BP werkt bij het project samen met Shell en Siccar Point Energy.

    BP schrijft 750 miljoen dollar af op activiteiten Angola

    Britse olie- en gasreus wil ook olievelden afstoten in Australië.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) BP is van plan om 750 miljoen dollar op zijn exploratieactiviteiten in Angola af te schrijven. Dit meldde de Britse oliereus donderdag.

    BP meldde dat het afstand doet van het belang van 50 procent in Block 24/11 bij de kust van Zuid-Angola en dat zijn gaswinningslocatie in Katambi onrendabel is gebleken.

    De afschrijving zal worden verwerkt in de cijfers over het tweede kwartaal van dit jaar, maar zal geen invloed hebben op de kasstroom en levert ook geen belastingvoordelen op.

    BP wil bovendien enkele projecten in Australië afstoten. De Britse olie- en gasreus sloot daarvoor al een overeenkomst met Statoil, dat nu in bezit is van twee olievelden van BP. BP zegt in gesprek te zijn met de Australische overheid om meer olievelden van de hand te doen.

    Verder liet de onderneming weten dit jaar vier gas-ontdekkingen te hebben gedaan, onder meer in Trinidad en Egypte.

    Het aandeel BP sloot donderdag 1,2 procent lager op 449,90 pond.

    BP boekt weer winst

    Energiebedrijf rekent op stabiele productie in lopend kwartaal.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) BP heeft in het tweede kwartaal weer winst behaald, waar vorig jaar nog een miljardenverlies overbleef. Dit maakt het Britse energiebedrijf dinsdag voorbeurs bekend.

    De nettowinst toewijsbaar aan aandeelhouders was 144 miljoen dollar. In het tweede kwartaal van 2016 bleef een verlies over van 1.419 miljoen dollar. De onderliggende winst tegen vervangingskosten daalde van 720 miljoen naar 684 miljoen dollar.

    "We blijven bezig met ons voor te bereiden voor de nieuwe omstandigheden in de oliesector, met een aanhoudende focus op kosten, efficiëntie en discipline wat betreft investeringen", zei CEO Bob Dudley. De topman sprak van "aanzienlijk strategisch momentum" voor de rest van het jaar en in 2018, door een hogere productie uit nieuwe projecten in Upstream en meer marketing in Downstream.

    In het tweede kwartaal zag de Upstream divisie de onderliggende winst toenemen van 29 miljoen naar 710 miljoen dollar. Bij Downstream was sprake van een daling van 1.513 miljoen naar 1.413 miljoen dollar.

    De kapitaalinvesteringen stegen op jaarbasis licht in het tweede kwartaal, van 4,2 miljard naar 4,3 miljard dollar.

    Outlook

    BO verwacht dat de productie in het derde kwartaal vrijwel gelijk zal zijn ten opzichte van het afgelopen kwartaal. De productie uit nieuwe producten worden gecompenseerd door een seizoensgebonden vertraging en onderhoud.

    Het aandeel BP sloot maandag 0,5 procent hoger.

    BP verkoopt belangen in Noordzeevelden

    Verkoop levert in totaal circa 300 miljoen pond op.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) BP verkoopt belangen in drie olievelden in de Noordzee aan Serica Energy. Dit maakte de Britse oliemaatschappij dinsdagochtend voorbeurs bekend, waarbij werd gemeld dat de totale opbrengst circa 300 miljoen pond zal bedragen.

    Het gaat om belangen in de exploitatie van boorplatforms op de velden Bruce, Keth en Rhum.

    "We blijven gecommitteerd aan de Noordzee en gaan door met investeren. De verkoop van de belangen is een voorbeeld van het opschonen van onze portefeuille. We verwachten echter onze productie in de Noordzee te verdubbelen tot 200.000 vaten per dag in 2020 door nieuwe projecten als Quad 204 en Clair Ridge", zei CEO Upstream Bernard Looney van BP in een toelichting op de transactie.

    Bij de verkoop gaan de circa 110 medewerkers mee over naar Serica. BP verwacht de transactie in het derde kwartaal van 2018 te kunnen voltooien.

    Het aandeel BP sloot maandag in Londen vlak op 492,07 pence.

    Ook BP neemt last vanwege Amerikaanse belastingverlagingen
    In vierde kwartaal last van 1,5 miljard dollar.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) BP neemt een eenmalige last van circa 1,5 miljard dollar in het afgelopen vierde kwartaal vanwege de belastingwijzigingen in Amerika. Dit maakte de Britse oliereus dinsdagochtend bekend.

    Vanaf dit jaar gaat de Amerikaanse vennootschapsbelasting omlaag van 35 naar 21 procent. Hoewel dit op zich gunstig is, heeft het aanvankelijk een negatief effect. Door het lagere belastingtarief kunnen er minder uitgestelde belastingen worden afgetrokken.

    Eerder al meldde sectorgenoot Royal Dutch Shell dat het in het vierde kwartaal een last van 2,0 miljard tot 2,5 miljard dollar neemt. Bij Goldman Sachs gaat het zelfs om 5 miljard dollar.

    BP gaat meer olie oppompen in Irak - media
    Brits oliebedrijf gaat Irakese regering helpen.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Het Britse oliebedrijf BP gaat de Irakese regering helpen om de olieproductie in de regio rondom Kirkoek op te voeren. Dit schreef persbureau Bloomberg donderdag.

    Irak heeft in oktober de olievelden in het noorden van het land bij Kirkoek heroverd van de Koerden en wil nu de productie weer herstellen. Daarom heeft het land een overeenkomst met BP gesloten om de productiecapaciteit te verhogen naar 700.000 tot 750.000 vaten olie per dag. Momenteel hebben de velden een dagcapaciteit van 450.000 vaten.

    Irak haalt het merendeel van zijn olie uit het zuiden van het land en verscheept het vervolgens via de havenstad Basra aan de Perzische Golf. Irak, na Saudi-Arabië de grootste olieproducent van oliekartel OPEC, kan maximaal 4,35 miljoen vaten olie oppompen volgens de productiebeperkende afspraken die het oliekartel afgelopen november heeft verlengd.

    BP invests USD 5 million in FreeWire in electric vehicle move

    Reuters quoted BP Plc as saying that it had invested USD 5 million in US mobile electric vehicle charging company FreeWire, helping it provide rapid charging at its retail sites in Britain and Europe, as demand for cleaner vehicles is expected to soar. BP joins rival Royal Dutch Shell, which last year agreed to buy Dutch-based NewMotion, the owner of one of Europe's largest electric vehicle charging networks, marking the company's first deal in electric mobility.

    The expected rapid growth in the use of electric vehicles in the coming decades is threatening oil companies' business model as demand for some road fuels could plateau as early as the late 2020s.

    BP, whose venturing business invested in FreeWire, said it plans to roll out the San Francisco- based technology firm's Mobi Charger units at selected retail sites in the United Kingdom and Europe this year.

    Mr Tufan Erginbilgic, BP's Downstream CEO, said that "Mobility is changing and BP is committed to remaining the fuel retailer of choice into the future. EV charging will undoubtedly become an important part of our business, but customer demand and the technologies available are still evolving."

    BP boekt lagere nettowinst
    Onderliggend resultaat hele boekjaar laat forse stijging zien.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones)BP heeft in het vierde kwartaal van 2017 een fors lagere winst geboekt op een hogere omzet vanwege het drukkende effect van een eenmalige last. Dit meldde de Britse energiereus dinsdag voorbeurs.

    CEO Bob Dudley sprak evenwel van één van de sterkste jaren in de geschiedenis van BP, zowel op operationeel als financieel vlak. De bestuurder noemde de inkomsten bij Downstream zeer sterk, terwijl de productie bij Upstream met 12 procent steeg.

    "We betreden het tweede jaar van ons vijfjarenplan met een echt momentum, waarbij we het vertrouwen hebben om door te kunnen gaan met het realiseren van groei, waardoor de kasstromen en het rendement voor de aandeelhouders tot 2021 en daarna verbetert", aldus Dudley."Tegelijkertijd omarmen we de energietransitie en zoeken we naar nieuwe kansen in een veranderende koolstofarme wereld", voegde hij toe.

    In het vierde kwartaal boekte BP een nettowinst van 27 miljoen dollar, in vergelijking tot 497 miljoen dollar in dezelfde periode een jaar eerder, waarbij het resultaat werd gedrukt door een eenmalige last van 2,5 miljard dollar.

    De omzet steeg de afgelopen verslagperiode van 52,1 miljard dollar in het vierde kwartaal van 2016 tot 70,0 miljard dollar het afgelopen kwartaal.

    Over het hele boekjaar boekte BP echter een nettowinst van 3,4 miljard dollar, tegenover 115 miljoen dollar in 2016.

    De energiereus handhaafde het dividend op 0,10 dollar per aandeel.

    Het aandeel BP sloot maandag 1,5 procent lager op 482,05 pence.

    BP begins production from Atoll gas field, Egypt

    BP announced the start of gas production from the Atoll Phase One project, offshore Egypt. The project, in the North Damietta concession in the East Nile Delta, was delivered seven months ahead of schedule and 33% below the initial cost estimate. The project is now producing 350 million cubic feet of gas a day (mmscfd) and 10,000 barrels a day (bpd) of condensate. Gas production from the field is directed to Egypt’s national grid.

    Atoll is the first new project to come into production for BP in 2018, adding to the series of higher-margin projects successfully brought online over the past few years. The 13 projects that started-up through 2016 and 2017 provided more than 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day (boed) of new net production capacity and total net production from BP’s new projects is now expected to be 900,000 boed by 2021.

    Mr Bob Dudley, BP group chief executive, said: “BP is focused on delivering growth with discipline, carefully choosing and efficiently executing high-quality projects. The longstanding partnerships we have in Egypt allowed us to fast-track Atoll’s development and deliver first gas only 33 months after discovery. This is a further demonstration of our commitment to help realise Egypt’s oil and gas potential and meet the increasing demand from its growing population.”

    BP announced the Atoll discovery in March 2015. The main reservoir in the field contains an estimated 1.5 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas and 31 million barrels of condensates and further segments are under evaluation.

    The Atoll Phase One project is an early production scheme involving almost $1 billion investment. The project involved recompletion of the original exploration well as a producing well and the drilling of two additional production wells, completed August 2015 to February 2017. Production is exported to the existing onshore West Harbor gas processing plant. Installation of the necessary subsea infrastructure and upgrading of onshore facilities was completed ahead of schedule.

    Mr Hesham Mekawi, Regional President, BP North Africa commented: “Atoll is our first major project in Egypt to be delivered in 2018, following the West Nile Delta Taurus and Libra project and then Zohr last year. We are extremely proud of Atoll’s efficient execution through our joint venture, the Pharaonic Petroleum Company.     BP plans to greenlight three new projects in 2018 - Mr Dudley

    BP plans to make final investment decisions on three major new oil and gas projects in 2018 and possibly more, Chief Executive Officer Mr Bob Dudley told reporters at the IP Week conference Mr Dudley said that BP will stick to its annual spending budget of USD 15 to USD 17 billion into 2021 despite higher oil prices

    Mr Dudley said that "At BP we are going to keep within that capital discipline. It is one of the things that shareholders say 'make sure that because the price is up you don't start overspending and being late' (on project deliveries) so we will stick with the USD 15-USD17 billion of capital framework through 2021."

    BP koopt groot Britse laadpalenbedrijf

    LONDEN (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - Het Britse olie- en gasconcern BP koopt Chargemaster, het grootste laadpalenbedrijf voor elektrische auto's in Groot-Brittannië. Chargemaster heeft een netwerk van 6500 oplaadpunten in het land.

    Met de overname is een bedrag gemoeid van 130 miljoen pond (147 miljoen euro). BP wil de komende twaalf maanden supersnelle oplaadpalen gaan installeren bij zijn 1200 pompstations in Groot-Brittannië

    BP had eerder gezegd jaarlijks ongeveer 500 miljoen dollar te investeren in schone energie. Het concern schat in dat de Britse markt voor elektrische auto's zal groeien naar 12 miljoen voertuigen in 2040, van 135.000 auto's in 2017.

    Huis

    Het in 2008 opgerichte Chargemaster levert ook laadpalen voor gebruik aan huis en voor bedrijven.

    Grote olie- en gasbedrijven zitten steeds meer in op schone technologieën gezien de toenemende druk om fossiele brandstoffen en de groeiende populariteit van elektrisch aangedreven auto's. In oktober vorig jaar nam Shell de Nederlandse aanbieder van laadpalen NewMotion over.

    LONDEN (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - Het Britse olie- en gasconcern BP heeft zijn belang in het olieveld Clair in de Noordzee uitgebreid. Het heeft daarover overeenstemming bereikt met de Amerikaanse branchegenoot ConocoPhillips. Tegelijkertijd verkopen de Britten een niet-operationeel belang in een winningsgebied in Alaska aan Conoco.

    BP neemt het belang in het Noordzee-veld over van een Conoco-dochter. Daardoor krijgt BP 45 procent van het veld in handen, terwijl Conoco zijn belang terugbrengt tot 7,5 procent. Het BP-belang in de Kuparuk-velden in Alaska van 39 procent gaat in zijn geheel over naar de Amerikanen, net als het belang in het transportonderdeel van die velden.

    De bedrijven maakten niet bekend hoeveel geld er met de transacties is gemoeid. Het enige dat BP kwijt wilde is dat de koop en verkoop van belangen kostenneutraal zullen uitvallen voor beide bedrijven. De deals worden naar verwachting later dit jaar afgerond en zijn nog wel aan de gebruikelijke goedkeuringen onderhevig.

    BP starts up Shah Deniz 2 development in Azerbaijan

    BP and its partners in the Shah Deniz consortium announced the start-up of the landmark Shah Deniz 2 gas development in Azerbaijan, including its first commercial gas delivery to Turkey. The BP-operated US$28 billion project is the first subsea development in the Caspian Sea and the largest subsea infrastructure operated by BP worldwide. It is also the starting point for the Southern Gas Corridor series of pipelines that will for the first time deliver natural gas from the Caspian Sea direct to European markets.

    Mr Bob Dudley, BP group chief executive, said that “Shah Deniz 2 is one of the biggest and most complex new energy projects anywhere in the world, comprising major offshore, onshore and pipeline developments. BP and our partners have safely and successfully delivered this multi-dimensional project as designed, on time and on budget.

    Mr Dudley said that “Together with the Southern Gas Corridor pipeline system, Shah Deniz 2 will deliver significant new energy supplies to Europe, further diversifying its sources of energy and providing new supplies of natural gas which will be essential in the energy transition. This milestone achievement is a credit to the Shah Deniz partners and to our close co-operation with the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, building on the relationships BP has built in the region over more than 25 years.”

    Shah Deniz 2 is BP’s largest new upstream project in 2018, and, following Atoll in Egypt, is the second of six project start-ups expected for the year. This string of developments will follow from 2017’s seven major project completions and is key to delivering the 900,000 barrels of oil equivalent new production that BP expects from new upstream major projects by 2021.

    At plateau, Shah Deniz 2 is expected to produce 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year (bcma) incrementally to current Shah Deniz production. Together with output from the first phase of development, total production from the Shah Deniz field will be up to 26 bcma of gas and up to 120,000 barrels of condensate a day.

    Offshore, the Shah Deniz 2 project includes 26 subsea wells, 500km of subsea pipelines and flowlines and two new bridge-linked platforms. Gas is transported onshore through a 85 km pipeline to the Sangachal terminal near Baku, which underwent a major expansion to accommodate the new increased gas output. The project also includes the new South Caucasus pipeline expansion - 428km of new pipeline in Azerbaijan and 59km in Georgia, including two new compressor stations – carrying Shah Deniz gas to Turkey.

    Bernard Looney, BP’s chief executive, Upstream, said: “Bringing this huge project online within the schedule and budget we set out at sanction 4½ years ago is further evidence of our focus on efficient and disciplined project execution. As our largest start-up for the year, Shah Deniz 2 is also a very important milestone in delivering our plans for growth, including from our pipeline of new higher-margin projects.”

    He said that “As can be seen from our recent agreements, we expect to be operating in Azerbaijan for decades to come and we continue to see opportunities to work with the country to further explore and develop its significant resources.”

    The development is a major milestone in the creation of the new Southern Gas Corridor which, once completed, will transport Caspian gas directly into the heart of European markets for the first time. From the South Caucasus pipeline, gas is transported across Turkey through the new Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), which was inaugurated earlier this month, and, when complete, the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) will then supply gas as far as Greece, through Albania and on to Italy. Commercial deliveries to Europe are expected to commence in 2020.
