De NANO one link met Euro Manganese

Euro Manganese Announces Offtake Term Sheet with Battery Maker Verkor
    January 12, 20235 min read

Euro Manganese Inc. (TSX-V and ASX: EMN; OTCQX: EUMNF; Frankfurt: E06) (the “Company” or “EMN”) announce it has entered into an offtake term sheet (the “Term Sheet”) with Verkor, a low-carbon battery manufacturer based in Grenoble, France, for the sale of high-purity manganese sulphate monohydrate (“HPMSM”) from the Company’s Chvaletice Manganese Project (“Chvaletice” or the “Project”) in the Czech Republic. The Term Sheet is non-binding.

The parties intend to enter an offtake agreement, where upon the pricing mechanism and minimum tonnages outlined in the Term Sheet, would become binding upon the signing by the parties of a legally binding offtake agreement, together with any other agreements necessary to give effect to the Project.

    batteries news advertise
The offtake tonnages are equivalent to a percentage of the Company’s annual HPMSM production on a take or pay basis. Deliveries are to commence from first production, expected to be in 2027 1, for an initial tenure of eight years with potential for renewal. The commencement of the initial term shall be subject to successful qualification of the Company’s HPMSM from the Chvaletice Demonstration Plant in Verkor’s supply chain.

Pricing will be based on an index-adjusted western benchmark price, representing HPMSM from a secure, traceable, local European supply source, with excellent ESG credentials and correlates to the Chvaletice HPMSM CO2 footprint, which is forecast to be approximately one-third of the incumbent Chinese industry.

The price for Chvaletice HPMSM will rise and fall proportionally with the movement of a published HPMSM index, on a rolling three-month quotational period. Pricing is subject to a floor price which ensures the Company will meet its project financing debt covenants.

This Term Sheet is the Company’s first term sheet for a long-term offtake. The Company anticipates more term sheets or agreements will follow in the near term as a result of the offtake tender process, which is currently underway.

Dr. Matthew James, President & CEO of Euro Manganese, commented:

This is a major milestone for Euro Manganese and for the European battery value chain.

“I am immensely proud of the team and their hard work in negotiating the first long-term offtake term sheet, with a pricing structure, from a Western supplier in the high-purity manganese market. Verkor has undertaken due diligence on our completed feasibility study and has placed their confidence in us and in our product.”

“We look forward to supplying to them as they advance on their goals of delivering batteries to their customers, including Renault Group. Together, we are aligned in our pursuit of helping to create a cleaner world by enabling the green energy transition.”

Benoit Lemaignan, CEO of Verkor said:

This announcement is a further concretisation of the efforts undertaken over the last two years to build the future of electric mobility in Europe.

“Euro Manganese’s project meets our goals of securing traceable, local raw materials which align to European highest ESG standards. I know we can continue to count on them for the next milestone of our development as we make our first gigafactory project a reality.”

Nano One Provides Progress Update on the Successful Integration of Candiac LFP Operation

    Highlights

One-Pot trials commencing and decommissioning of unused equipment progressing.

Functional re-org implemented to align innovation and commercialization centres.

Completed integration of Candiac team and facility, focus now on post-merger activities.

Focusing on meeting market demand while harnessing government support.

VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / January 19, 2023 / Nano One® Materials Corp. ("Nano One" or the "Company"), a clean technology company focused on the production of cathode materials used in lithium-ion batteries, is pleased to provide an update on the reorganization of the combined teams, and the transformation of the Candiac lithium iron phosphate ("LFP") facility to the One-Pot process, following completion of the acquisition previously announced on November 1, 2022.

Mr. Denis Geoffroy, Chief Commercialization Officer said, "The team at Candiac has tremendous experience in LFP, having developed two different processes, built the first and only LFP plant in North America and operated it for 10 years. Adding the cost and environmental benefits of the One-Pot process, they are excited to be pioneering a new generation of LFP to have a meaningful impact in the energy transition. We have re-organized Nano One to align everyone with our strategic objectives, are happy with the progress on integration, and are executing successfully on our LFP commercialization plans with the aim of providing long-term value to our supportive shareholders."

Leveraging the deep experience of the Quebec operational team, action plans are being implemented to convert the Candiac facility to Nano One's patented One-Pot process to accelerate the commercialization of Nano One's LFP technology. Candiac assets and know-how will help design turn-key systems to address, and align with, projected global LFP cathode market demand. This will support America's efforts to ‘friendshore' battery supply chain production through the Inflation Reduction Act ("IRA") and other international initiatives.

LFP trials with the One-Pot technology will start in January 2023. Initial plant preparations are complete, including process hazard studies, for the use of the existing commercial scale reactors for larger scale trials beginning in Q1 2023. Results from this work will provide Nano One with valuable insights for the next stage of trials, pilot production and advanced engineering. Large One-Pot reactors have been designed and ordered, with installation, integration and commissioning expected in Q3 2023 for industrial pilot scale LFP production. This builds on existing development work and supports evaluation and validation work with potential customers. Certain equipment in the Candiac facility will not be needed for the One-Pot process and is currently being decommissioned and removed, while procurement of new equipment is ongoing. Nano One has initiated a third-party evaluation of the assets that will be used for the industrial pilot and is planning to sell unneeded equipment in the One-Pot process.

All raw materials ordered for the first trials have now been received on site and small quantities will be utilized for training purposes before advancing to larger volumes.

The Candiac plant is currently the only existing LFP production facility in North America. It consists of an 80,000 square foot production plant and the most experienced LFP operational team in the world, outside of China. The plant and team are located 20 km outside of Montréal, in Candiac, Québec, and are strategically aligned with Canada's "Mines to Mobility" initiative.

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), as previously announced, is working with Nano One on the continued integration of the Candiac and Burnaby teams, and objectives for the first 3 months are substantially complete, on-time and on-budget. The work has been well informed, collaborative and aligned with business plans, and it has led to a smooth transition as Candiac transforms to the One-Pot process and as Burnaby takes on valuable scale-up and production know-how. The integration team is proud to announce that all staff have been retained and that employee know-how in both facilities is complimentary, accretive and mutually aligned with Nano One's strategic objectives and will provide long-term stakeholder value.

"I am pleased to report that these first few months of integration have gone as well as we had anticipated, thanks to careful planning, collaboration, experience and focus," said Chief Operating Officer, Alex Holmes. "The newly combined team benefits from common goals, a culture of learning and are building on the richness of each other's experiences."

With at least eight[1] auto OEM's publicly stating they are using, or are about to use, LFP, the world is already witnessing the rise of LFP cathode in cells as a major segment of the lithium-ion battery market. Canada's "Mines to Mobility" plan and America's IRA are two examples of government support and policy imperatives to shift the manufacturing of electric vehicles, energy storage, their battery components, materials and critical minerals to domestic markets and like-minded nation partners. Nano One's Candiac team and facility are key building blocks in this transformation and are being positioned to change how the world makes battery materials.

Mr. Holmes continued "We are leveraging our know-how and advanced technology to address the inherent scale-up challenges of a Terawatt hour world. Until now, LFP batteries have been known for their low cost, safety and longevity, but with Nano One's innovations, we believe we can lead the transformation of the domestic LFP supply chain by further driving down cost, supply chain risk, energy intensity and environmental footprint for the cleanest, greenest and most secure supply chain on the planet."

The German automaker and Quebec authorities have a operating dialogue on different future prospects, Fitzgibbon informed Automotive News Canada, however Volkswagen’s preliminary battery cell plant “is not on our radar right now.”

Volkswagen introduced it was scouting areas for the most important North American funding Dec. 1, singling out Canada as “one logical option” for the plant that can construct battery cells for the automaker’s North American-made electrical autos.

The firm didn’t disclose the place within the nation it was trying, however Ontario, with its automotive roots and fast-coalescing battery provide chain, in addition to Quebec, which is quickly to be residence to a collection of battery supplies vegetation and Canada’s solely operational lithium mine, had been seen as contenders.

Canada was the only real nation Volkswagen publicly disclosed in December as being on the shortlist for its deliberate North American cell plant, but it surely stated “other options” had been additionally being thought-about.

Volkswagen Group Canada spokesman Thomas Tetzlaff wouldn’t touch upon the state of the corporate’s cell plant website search, or present a timeline for when an announcement can be made.

But Canada stays within the race.

Volkswagen is anticipated to announce a call comparatively quickly. Flavio Volpe, president of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, informed Automotive News Canada in December he expects the corporate to announce the placement of its first North American battery cell plant within the first six months of 2023.

Quebec, meantime, isn’t abandoning its pursuit of different cell producers. Currently, Fitzgibbon stated, the province has two potential vegetation in its pipeline.

“They may not be signed short-term, but I’m confident that we will at one point get one.”

Fitzgibbon stated because the preliminary wave of battery vegetation rolled out throughout North America, Quebec’s distance from the United States’ automotive heartland seemingly served as a deterrent.

“The first cohort of cell plants have been announced close to the OEMs. It’s a natural reflex.”

But as automakers require increasingly battery cells, he expects the built-in internet of battery supplies vegetation coming collectively in Quebec, and the province’s clear, low-cost energy will draw automakers northeast.

“As we solidify the production of cathodes [and] anodes … this is 50 per cent of the value of a battery pack. So, we are at the right place to get that foundation built.”

Bécancour, Que., which sits on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, halfway between Montreal and Quebec City, is poised to develop into residence to a collection of battery supplies vegetation.

Lithium, nickel and cobalt processors are weighing investments, whereas Nouveau Monde Graphite Inc., has already begun building on a plant within the metropolis.

Two cathode lively supplies (CAM) vegetation are additionally within the works. In March 2022, General Motors and Posco Chemical introduced plans for a $500 million CAM plant within the metropolis. German chemical firm BASF bought land in Bécancour for its personal plant the identical month.

Fitzgibbon stated the province is “working hard” to substantiate one more CAM producer for Quebec.
