    Meanwhile:

After telling CNN reporter Manu Raju Wednesday morning that he told President Trump that Biden will be “tough” to beat in the general election, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appeared to suggest that Senate Republicans plan to go after the former vice president for his son’s tenure on the board of Ukraine energy company Burisma.

“If you are going to run for President, and you were in charge of the Ukrainian anti-corruption campaign as vice president, and your son is sitting on the most corrupt company in the country while you’re trying to clean up the country, yeah that will come up,” Graham said.

When asked whether he plans to launch an investigation in the Senate Judiciary Committee, Graham responded that Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) is “doing it.”

    En ook nog even dit:

The @realDonaldTrump Administration proposed cuts to CDC & NIH in their budget. Then they requested an inadequate $2.5 billion to address #COVID?19.

The House is going to pass today a $8.3 billion package to seriously address the coronavirus outbreak.

U.S. Launches 'Defensive Strike' At Taliban As Fragile Afghan Peace Deal Teeters
    March 4, 2020

Just days after the U.S. and Taliban announced the terms of a deal lauded as a foundation for peace, Afghanistan is once more embroiled in deadly violence.

On Wednesday, the U.S. carried out its first airstrike on the Islamist militant group since announcing the agreement. A U.S. military spokesman said the "defensive strike" in Helmand province was aimed at disrupting Taliban fighters "who were actively attacking an [Afghan security] checkpoint."

"Taliban leadership promised the [international] community they would reduce violence and not increase attacks," Col. Sonny Leggett of the U.S. forces in Afghanistan said in a series of tweets, noting that Tuesday alone saw the militant group launch 43 attacks on checkpoints across Helmand.

"We call on the Taliban to stop needless attacks and uphold their commitments. As we have demonstrated, we will defend our partners when required."

In a span of just 24 hours, a wave of Taliban assaults has left civilians and security forces dead in more than a dozen provinces, according to a spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Interior. Local media report that at least 16 Afghan soldiers were killed in an attack in the province of Kunduz.

    Oh.

Steve Bullock Is Poised to Run for Senate in Montana, Officials Say
After months of insisting he would not challenge the Republican incumbent, Mr. Bullock, the governor and ex-Democratic presidential candidate, has until Monday to file to run in Montana.

Gov. Steve Bullock of Montana is poised to reverse himself and run for the Senate, according to three Democratic officials, a decision that would hand the party a coveted recruit who could help reclaim a majority in the chamber.

After months of insisting he would not challenge Senator Steve Daines, Mr. Bullock, who ran for president last year, has told Democrats in the last week he is now inclined to run in what would immediately become one of the marquee Senate races of 2020. Mr. Bullock has only a few days to finalize his decision: the filing deadline to run in Montana is Monday.

In an email on Tuesday, Mr. Bullock, 53, declined to say whether he would run. The Democratic officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

Senate Democrats are chiefly on the offensive this year, and have high hopes to defeat incumbent Republicans in Arizona, Colorado, Maine and North Carolina, where on Tuesday their preferred candidate captured the nomination. But with Republicans holding a 53-seat majority, and favored to defeat Senator Doug Jones of Alabama, it has not been clear which state could offer Democrats the fifth seat they would need to win a clear majority.

Tillis in NC, McSally in Arizona, Gardner in Colorado, Collins in Maine, Ernst in Iowa.
    Open race in Georgia....

En Bullock maakt 6 (of 7). Verlies van Dough Jones (Ala), Peters (Mich), geeft 5. Da's meer dan genoeg.

    it is ON!

Hervis Rogers was the last man to vote at his Texas Southern University polling place early Wednesday morning, and possibly the last person to cast a ballot in the State of Texas when he did so around 1 a.m.

Rogers, who works two jobs, arrived at the polls just before 7 p.m., and his roughly six-hour wait was tough, he said. But that didn’t stop him.

    President Trump Job Approval
Just 41% of Americans approve of how President Trump is handling his job, while 54% disapprove, the March IBD/TIPP Poll finds. That negative 13-point differential has nearly doubled in the past month. In late January, Trump's job approval registered 44% and disapproval 51%.

Now just 37% of independents give Trump positive reviews, while 57% disapprove. That's down from 39%-53% in late January.

Trump Job Approval Slumps With Economic Outlook
The drop in Trump's job approval coincides with a sudden shift in the economic outlook. The U.S. economic outlook just suffered its biggest one-month drop since October 2013 amid spread of the coronavirus, the March IBD/TIPP Poll finds.

The six-month economic outlook index fell to a modestly pessimistic 47.8 from a strongly optimistic 57. Readings above the neutral 50 level reflect optimism.

Trump continues to get positive ratings for his handling of the economy, with 47% approving and 35% disapproving. Still, that's a big comedown from late January. Back then, 53% of Americans rated his handling of the U.S. economy as good or excellent, while just 28% give him a negative rating.

    Elizabeth Warren stopt ermee.

Trump to Sean Hannity (Fox News) on WHO (World Health Organization) saying coronavirus death rate is 3.4%: "I think the 3.4% number is really a false number. Now this is just my hunch, but based on a lot of conversations ... personally, I'd say the number is way under 1%."

    Astoundingly irresponsible.

As of Monday, South Korea had tested a total of 105,379 people, and 4,212 people were confirmed to have the disease. Some 200 designated health centers across the country can test up to 15,000 people daily.

Mike Bloomberg plans new group to support Democratic nominee

Former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg has decided to form a new independent expenditure campaign that will absorb hundreds of his presidential campaign staff in six swing states to work to elect the Democratic nominee this fall.

The new group, with a name that is still undisclosed because its trademark application is in process, would also be a vehicle for Bloomberg to spend money on advertising to attack President Trump and support the Democratic nominee, according to a person familiar with the discussions, who requested anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

The moves come as Bloomberg has continued to taunt Trump on social media, releasing a new video on Twitter Thursday that cut together a number of clips in a way meant to mock Trump’s claims that he would win the White House, hold the Senate and take back the U.S. House.

    AD

“We are not going anywhere. We will haunt your dreams. We are in your head,” the video declares by splicing together clips from movies, television shows and music videos. “Starting today, and every day after that, every morning, every night, we will be here watching you, always watching, making sure everyone one knows what a disaster you are.”

The new group, operating with the same potentially limitless bankroll that funded Bloomberg’s campaign, could play a mayor role in shaping the race this fall. Bloomberg, who is worth more than $50 billion, has also not ruled out using the group to spend money to support Vice President Joe Biden during his primary fight against Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). Bloomberg dropped out of the race on Wednesday.
