BREXIT referendum 23 juni 2016
Volgen
Cameron stapt a.s woensdag op.
Meest opvallende uitspraak: a vision of a country that works for everyone – not just the privileged few.
Bron: DFT Premium

LONDON, July 12 (Reuters) - Britain will fall into recession over the coming year and growth in each of the next five years will be at least 0.5 percentage points lower as a result of Brexit, BlackRock said on Tuesday. "Recession is now our base case," Richard Turnill, chief investment strategist at the world's largest asset manager, said, adding that political and economic uncertainty will remain high after Britain's vote to leave the European Union. "There's likely to be a significant reduction of investment in the UK," he said. Sterling is expected to fall further as the Bank of England cuts interest rates to zero and expands its bond-buying programme, but won't fall as far as parity with the dollar, BlackRock said. Sterling hit a 31-year low of $1.2796 last week, down around 15 percent since the June 23 referendum. (Reporting by Jamie McGeever, editing by Nigel Stephenson)
Brexit pushes UK energy prices towards nine-month highs The Telegraph reported that UK energy prices climbed to near nine-month highs in the aftermath of the EU referendum as the market began to anticipate winter blackouts. The UK’s gas and power markets have been rocked in recent months by heavy infrastructure maintenance, unplanned shutdowns and political turmoil, leading to the most volatile quarter of trading in the last two years and a stark break from the market’s steady decline since 2013. Market experts at ICIS said that the price of gas climbed 29pc over the second quarter while wholesale electricity prices rose 25pc. The energy market’s second-quarter rally received a further boost from the UK’s vote to leave the European Union. According to ICIS’ latest report said that “UK energy prices were boosted early in the quarter with supply concerns for both gas and power, and rose further towards the end of the quarter with shifting sentiment over the EU referendum.” The report said that “The Brexit result then pushed prices towards nine-month highs, due to the collapse in value of the pound, which boosted demand for British energy from traders dealing in euros.” In addition, the UK is a net importer of gas and coal, which are traded in dollars, meaning that a prolonged post-Brexit sterling slump could mean higher energy prices in the long term. The UK energy system has been wracked by multiple power plant closures in the past year, which have raised the risk of skyrocketing prices and supply cuts during the high-demand winter months. By the end of the first quarter the UK had lost 5GW of cheap coal-fired power, the equivalent of 10pc of the UK’s peak power demand. But concerns have escalated further after energy giant Engie, formerly known as GDF Suez, took its 1GW Rugeley coal-fired plant offline. Germany’s RWE said it would also take its 1.6GW Aberthaw plant out of the market from April 2017. Source : The Telegraph
Dus Theresa May heet ze.
BREXIT BY 2018! Davis reveals timetable for Britain's independence from Brussels NEW Brexit Secretary David Davis has set a timetable to end Brussels rule in Britain which could see independence achieved by December 2018.www.express.co.uk/news/politics/68960...
REVEALED: Britain already has TEN Brexit trade deals lined up with economic powerhouses BRITAIN already has ten trade deals lined up with economic powerhouses around the world as it forges its post-Brexit future, Liam Fox said last night. The new Secretary of State for International Trade has been tasked with negotiating the global trade deals that will make Britain “a beacon of open trade around the world”. Last night he revealed that he will be allowed to cherry pick the brightest and the best from each Government department to ensure he heads the strongest team possible to advance Britain’s interests. “One of the things that has always irritated people in Britain about our relationship with the EU is that we always applied all the EU laws,” he said. “By the same token, one of the things that people will trust in us is that we apply all the laws. People understand that if we make a law, we will apply it without fear of favour.” Last night Whitehall confirmed a list of ten economic powerhouses, including India, China, Japan Australia and Canada have already committed informally to forming strong trade deals with the UK. Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull confirmed he wants to complete a free trade deal with Britain as he called Prime Minister Theresa May to offer his congratulations on her appointment. Mrs May said: “I have been very clear that this Government will make a success of our exit from the European Union. “One of the ways we will do this is by embracing the opportunities to strike free trade deals with our partners across the globe. "It is very encouraging that one of our closest international partners is already seeking to establish just such a deal. This shows that we can make Brexit work for Britain, and the new Secretary of State for International Trade will be taking this forward in the weeks and months ahead. “Britain is an outward-looking and globally-minded country, and we will build on this as we forge a new role for ourselves in the world.” Speaking during his first weekend in his new role, Mr Fox said his new department would have three aims: developing a new ability for Britain to technically negotiate trade contacts “for the first time in 43 years”, encouraging direct investment int he UK and promoting British goods and services throughout the world “to a scale we haven’t seen before”. “I think the whole concept of economic blocks belongs in the 20th century. The prize in the 21st century will go to those who understand flexibility and agility. This is part of Britain’s DNA," he said. “I think there is a chance for us to set you this country to be a global beacon for open trade. We can’t negotiate trade deals independently while we’re still member of the European Union, so what we’re doing is having the discussions so we know where we are. “We have a very skilled workforce, we have industrial peace, we speak English, we’re in the right time zone., we have the right commercial law and we have all the skills and guarantees to be the most trustworthy trade partners in the world. “Trust is at the centre of our success. People understand that if we make a law, we will apply it without fear of favour. “It’s one of the reasons why the City of London is pre eminent in finance. Money goes to where money can be made and money can be moved. Our contract law guarantees this.” He said he would be allowed to pick from the best of the best in key government departments, to build the team he needs. “My department will take trade experts from the Foreign Office, we’ll take UKTI (Uk trade and Investment body) from the department of business, innovation and skills which exports finance from the treasury - we’ll even take the diesel we need to fly with from the MoD.” Another important partner will be the United States, with which Britain already enjoy £17bn worth of exports every year without any trade deals in place. Last week finance chiefs in Indiana, spent more than £30,000 to place full page adverts in British national newspapers to knock President Barack Obama’s infamous claim that a post-Brexit UK will have to “get to the back of queue” when it comes to negotiating a trade deal. The advert read: "Brexit or not, you’ll always be at the front of the queue for business in Indiana."www.express.co.uk/news/politics/69019... On Friday presidential hopeful Donald Trump chose Indiana Governor Mark Pence to be his running mate in next year’s elections – a sign, friends say, that a new administration will work hard to repair the “damage” to relationships with Britain and other nations caused by the Obama presidency. Last night Indiana’s secretary for commerce Victor Smith, a close friend of Governor Pence, said: “Forget the Eurozone, we already have relationships with so many British companies - Rolls Royce have their largest North American presence in our state with 4,000 employees. Tate and Lyle has invested billions. BP has invested billions. BAe systems has thousands of employees here. These are major relationships. “That’s the reason we did what we did. We wanted to tell Britain: “Treaty or no Treaty, Brexit or not, you’re first in the queue with us.”
