As the only provider of enterprise blockchain solutions, Ripple’s growing, global network includes 12 of the top 50 global banks, ten banks in commercial deal phases, and over 30 bank pilots completed, among many others also using Ripple’s solutions.

    Easy like imessage ;-)

Zeker niet... Zelfs dino's als Citi, kunnen niet meer om Ripple heen... Fortune van gisteren.

“Banking now is like sending a letter—you send it [and] you don’t know if it reached [its destination],” observed Chris Larsen, CEO and co-founder of Ripple, a San Francisco-based startup. His vision is simple: Money transfer should be like sending an iMessage, where you immediately know if and when it arrives. It’s a bold, disruptive idea for sure, but it’s a vision eagerly embraced by heavyweights on Wall Street.

White paper of Accenture & Ripple

DLT has a long way to go before it is ready
to support trillions of dollars in payments
per year, but it is ready now to form the
base of a new cross-border commercial
    payments network at manageable volumes
that could eventually reach this size.
transforming the way we pay. 24x7,
    real-time domestic payments are already
a reality in the UK and the Nordics, and
soon will be a reality in the rest of Europe,
the USA, Australia and elsewhere, but
a large gap is opening up in the global
    payments landscape for a 24x7, real-time
    cross-border payment network.
To meet the demands of the digital
economy and global trade and to match
    the capabilities of domestic payments,
this gap needs to be filled, and DLT is
ideally placed to do so. Banks are already
upgrading their IT systems and business
    process for real-time domestic payments,
which can also be leveraged for real-time
    cross-border payments.

    The Ripple enterprise solution is
mature enough to launch and scale a
    cross-border payments network, and a
consortium of banks is forming to use this
Ripple technology to keep ahead of the
    competition.
The time is now for banks to collaborate
to launch the foundation of a real-time,
    24x7, transparent and efficient cross-
    border payments network.

Carpe Diem—seize the day! The moment
is here. Ripple and its partner banks are
    seizing it.

    Gisteren Bradesco...
Committed to blockchain technology, Banco Bradesco is also said to be in talks with Ripple for cross-border payments.

The news comes shortly after the bank joined the blockchain consortium led by New York-based fintech firm R3, becoming the second financial institution from Brazil to join the world’s largest bank coalition dedicated to blockchain technology.

Starting from late August 2016, financial institutions will be solicited to become members of the Consortium, and at its inception in october of the same year, the inaugural members will likely consist of 15 banks or so with about 30 banks expected to be on the membership list in March 2017.

The partners will employ a payment settlement system developed by Ripple Labs. The California-based fintech company has formed a tie-up with SBI Holdings, which owns part of SBI Sumishin Net Bank. Ripple technology will be adapted for the Japanese financial industry. The service will be operational as early as next spring. asia.nikkei.com/Business/Trends/Japan...

Google and Apple like Ripple's Interledger Protocol for interoperability
    www.ibtimes.co.uk/google-apple-like-r...
"By the end of the year we will hopefully have a solid integration with all the major cryptocurrencies and some traffic going through it, some real money going through it between different cryptocurrencies. We think that is the signal companies like Google are waiting for to take the next step. Then maybe we will see some adoption from tech companies as well."
  7. Frederik C. 21 augustus 2016 16:03
In the end, the exciting potential of the new technology lies not just in the cost savings banks can extract from the old system but the possibility to enable new models and businesses entirely.

In the world of payments, a technology solution like Ripple and XRP that creates unprecedented cost-efficiency and global reach makes use cases like global disbursements, international cash pooling, low-value remittances and even micropayments not just possible but profitable. It’s these new business models that will catalyze development of the Internet of Value.
Daarom zijn er inmiddels talloze consortia gevormd, om dit vorm te geven middels DCL & ILP.

a goal of Interledger is to create a money network that can connect cryptocurrencies, which (...) will be done by the end of 2016 or early next year. Connecting crypto is a proving ground for ILP

Since seigniorage on the Ripple consensus network can be directed to liquidity providers to cover the cost of volatility risk, XRP is best positioned to drive institutional network effects and serve as the universal bridge asset in the Internet of Value.

Enter Ripple's disruptive technology of distributed ledger for cross-border payments, which might prove to be an equaliser of sorts in the world of remmittances, as it brings down transaction costs sizeably. Ripple, which has offices in San Francisco, New York, London, Luxembourg and Sydney, said a number of banks in India have shown interest in the technology given its ease of usage over blockchain.

"Why this technology is of particular interest to India is because of the country's numero uno position in crossborder payments; we attracted $69 billion in remittances in 2015," says Dilip Rao,MD, AsiaPacific, Ripple.

UBS, Deutsche Bank, Santander and BNY Mellon announced their “utility settlement coin,” a new digital asset they hope will become the industry standard for blockchain settlements. They expect banks will initially use the coin for post-trade settlement and clearing by early 2018, after they secure blessing from regulators and central banks.(...)
We strongly believe banks need an independent digital asset to enable truly efficient settlement and we believe XRP is best positioned for that role. It goes back to the fundamentals of what makes digital assets unique and special - they’re universal currencies, meaning anyone can use them as units of value anywhere in the world. That universality gives digital assets global reach and the ability to settle much faster than traditional assets.

Major Banks Launch Global Payments Steering Group

Group members unite to create the first rules-based blockchain payments network

These leading banks are working with Ripple in an effort to drastically reduce the time and cost of settlement while enabling new types of high-volume, low-value global transactions. By coming together to form the GPSG, they are laying the foundation for a modern payments network underpinned by Ripple’s solutions and supported by rules and governance for global settlement.

“Today, people expect money to move at the speed of the Internet. That’s why we’re working with these top banks to address the need for faster cross-border payments,” said Ripple CEO and co-founder Chris Larsen. “The work of GPSG, a new global interbank network, will give financial institutions and their customers the ability to make new types of payments at mass scale.”

However one Emergent Fintech venture that is active at SIBOS could give SWIFT (which owns SIBOS) some cause for agita. Ripple is emerging as a real contender in cross border payments, which is a business that SWIFT has dominated for decades.
