    ’t Zal een kort nachtje worden, vanaf 8 uur telefoon verwachtende van Bolero (we moeten dan toch klaar zitten.)

    Ziet er plots zeer slecht uit:
    Knight Capital Group's Chief Executive Tom Joyce is considering bankruptcy reorganization and a sale of assets.
    A trading glitch with Knight's software roiled markets and wiped out $440 million of the firm's capital, forcing it to seek new funding as its shares plunged more than 80 percent in two days.
    A number of brokerages and broker-dealers have suspended routing trading orders through Knight. Among them: TD Ameritrade , Scott Trade, Fidelity Investments, Vanguard Group, E*Trade and Pershing LLC, a division of BNY Mellon .

    Knight Capital Group Inc. (KCG) opened its books today to potential buyers, including private-equity firms and at least one securities-industry rival, as it seeks an investment or takeover to survive after a $440 million trading loss, said two people with knowledge of the matter.
    Knight hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Sandler O’Neill & Partners LP for advice in the rescue talks, said one of the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks are private. The New York-based high speed trading firm is under pressure to strike a deal within days, the people said.

    ps. leuk die voorwaarden, maar vraag is of ze aansprakelijkheid kunnen
    en mogen uitsluiten. Jij neemt een betaalde dienst af die niet correct wordt
    uitgevoerd....
    Als ze in strijd zijn met wetboek kan er een streep doorheen.
    Zou je nog evt bij juridisch loket kunnen voorleggen.

    Technical problems at Knight caused a torrent of trades that sent dozens of stocks soaring, costing the company at least $440 million. Late on Thursday, Knight shares traded at $2.55, down $4.38, or 63 percent.

    While buying of puts - generally considered bearish bets, expecting shares to fall further - was still active on the stock, whose price was the lowest since October of 1998, new positions that opened earlier in the day indicated a short-term rebound in Knight's shares.

    "We see strikes today that we didn't yesterday, like the $4 and $6 strikes. While yesterday was just heavy put buying, today is more of a two-way flow," said J.J. Kinahan, chief derivatives strategist at TD Ameritrade.

    "There were actually a good amount of call buying for August expiration, suggesting some people think the selloff yesterday and today is a bit overdone. Yes, Knight had problems but investors still think their core business is OK," Kinahan said.

    But some were more concerned.

    "The question is are they (Knight) going to end up filing for bankruptcy, will they be able to get out of this death spiral considering where the stock is and the amount of capital they have to raise," said James Dailey, portfolio manager at TEAM Asset Strategy Fund in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

    Knight Chief Executive Thomas Joyce said on Thursday that the market-making firm had acted appropriately after the trading glitch and would like to maintain its business.

    In early morning trade, 25,000 calls and 32,000 puts changed hands the options market. But in terms of buy and sell, there were more buyers of calls than of puts.

    The most active options were the August $2.50 puts with almost 14,000 trades and the August $5 calls, with 10,500 contracts, according to TD Ameritrade data.

    But while yesterday was "the sharks smelling the blood," Thursday's action was more divided, said Ryan Detrick, technical strategist at Schaeffer's Investment Research.

    "Looking at today's activity, the majority of the action is in Aug and Sept, and it's put heavy. So the options players are expecting something to happen quickly, not buying a lot of time for things to play out," said Detrick said.

    The firm's survival may rest in the hands of Knight Capital CEO Tom Joyce, who told Bloomberg Television on Thursday the firm had "excess capital right now," and said the goal was to keep Knight in business.

    When Joyce arrived in mid-2002 after the dot-com bust had devastated the U.S. stock market, the market-maker was struggling because of low trading volumes and high payouts made to attract business from discount brokers.

    Joyce, whose laid-back demeanor distinguishes him from many more volatile executives in the trading business, spent 15 years at Merrill Lynch & Co., and has considerable contacts on Wall Street if a rescue deal is possible.

    "Whenever you have a company that lost roughly half of its tangible book value in five minutes, everything is on the table," said Kenneth Pasternak, who co-founded Knight in 1995 and served as its chief executive until he retired in 2002. "All he has to do it is pick up the phone."

    Joyce has seen his considerable stake in his firm almost wiped out in a matter of hours. As of April 2, Joyce owned more than 1.2 million shares of Knight Capital, with a market value of nearly $16 million -- a stake now worth less than $3 million.

    "Unless Tommy Joyce can do some really massive damage control and calm the markets and let everyone rest assured they are OK and they are not going out of business they've got some rocky days in front of them," Polcari at ICAP said.
