Vipul Mehrotra, Director, Nokia said that Lumia 920 and 820 are just the beginning of a number os exciting products to be announced very soon:

"We are very sure of the success of new Lumia phones. As for the Plan B, there is none. But what I can tell you at the moment is that we are committed to Windows Phone and we have many more exciting devices in pipeline. These two are just the beginning."

    He further said

"First of all, past is past. The focus is on the future now. The buzz is already back. The Asha series is a great success. We are coming back, step by step! The earlier Lumia phones were one step. Asha phones are other. PureView 808 was received very well. We are happy with the response Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 are getting."

The bearish article writers are usually the ones who have lost
money in investing Nokia stocks in the past; ones who are victims of Nokia´s job cuts; ones who short or have shorted Nokia; ones who don´t use Nokia phones, or simply ones who don´t like Nokia for some reason; ones who are fans of other manufactures or ones who work as analysts for banks or investment companies which don´t own Nokia shares or which are shorting or trading Nokia shares. Therefore, don´t let them affect your decision and your sleep.
Investing is a long process. In my opinion even when these bears lose all their teeth and their hairs and may be already six feet under the ground, Nokia still doesn´t go bankrupt.

    These are the reasons why:

    1. Nokia does not only make phones

    2. Nokia´s feature-phone division is still profitable

    3. Nokia Lumia 920 scores the best points among most of the tech sites today when comparing high end smart phones

    4. Lumia 920 and 820 hit in time the holiday shopping season this year

    5. NSN is growing strongly

    6. Nokia still has 4,2 billion euros net cash

    7. Nokia´s WP 8 devices will hit more markets, for example the middle East countries (Lumia phones have not been in these countries yet till now)

    8. NAVTEQ is doing well and even better in the future

    9. Nokia has regular incomes from its patent portfolio (right now, this income is around 500 million euros per year, and it is still increasing).

    10. Nokia has cut expenses (which saves about 1 billion euros per year).

    11. In the future, Nokia does not have to spend so much in R&D, because it has teamed up with Microsoft.

    12. If Nokia really runs out of cash, Microsoft will likely lend Nokia
cash for reasonable rates, because Nokia is the most important partner for Microsoft for its Window Phone ecosystem and phone software business in general. Microsoft won´t let Nokia go bankrupt, cause it would be a huge damage for itself as well.

    13. Apart from Vertu and so on, Nokia still can sell its patents, since it still has 30 000 patents in its own hands (in case Nokia needs more cash).

    14. If the stock price still goes cheaper and cheaper, one day some rival would bid for Nokia, just for its patents ( Motorola was acquired by Google with 12 billion dollars, this is good to remind people who underestimate intellectual properties´ value).

    15. Microsoft will bid for Nokia with higher premium if some company really bids for Nokia, because Nokia is in so close partnership with Microsoft that this also includes business strategies, business secrets and so on. Therefore, Microsoft won´t let any company acquire Nokia than itself. When it comes to Microsoft, it is still the net cash king in the world, after all its debts excluded, it still has a huge net cash above 50 billion dollars.

    16. right now there is no way to compare Nokia to Apple among most smpart phone consumers, but there is hope in the future.
For example, Nokia just signed the contract with China Mobile (who has about 680 million subscribers, which is about 70% of all subscribers in this world´s biggest nation), and even though iPhone is very popular in the US and Europe, Windows Phone OS already surpasses iOS in the world´s biggest countries beside China, such as Brasil, India and Russia. Even though in these countries more low price point phones are sold, but these are the most important emerging giants in the world where Nokia´s position and brand are still quite strong. And it may be sooner than we think when more people in these countries are able to afford high end smart phones.

The conclusion is Nokia is for long term play not for short term.
Just think about this, even when Apple reaches 1000 dollars, that is not even doubling, but in long term Nokia has the opportunity to triple or even more.

Lumia 900 was an OK product in the beginning. I was excited when I first bought my Lumia 900. However, it was a vanilla WP7.5 product with some extras like Nokia Drive--you could not even store your favorites destinations in Nokia Drive. However, it served a purpose by meeting my basic navigation needs. I paid only $50 for Lumia 900 and then Nokia gave me $100 back for a small bug--I got it for -$50 :-)

Interestingly lot of crticisms started when MS announced WP8 and declared that WP7.5 will not be upgradable to WP8--instead will get update 7.8.

Ironically, Nokia announced several new features and updates for Lumia 900 since then. We got:

Camera Extras-Smart Group Shot, Action Shot, Panorama, Self-Timer

Major update to Nokia Drive: Now you can have your favorite destination---the most intersting improvement was "Commute"--you can progarm your daily commute giving the time ofthe commute and destination say your office. The algorithm in the phone will tell you your commute time based on the traffic information so that you can leave early if needed.

Nokia Transit if you like public transport.

Major update to Nokia Map--you can upload photos.

    Nokia Lens--very cool feature

Nokia Music--free music service--you can listen to free music--also you can purchase a song if you like the song that is being played.

    Flip-to-Silence

DLNA--stream your photo, video to your DLNA enabled TV

    and several other cool features.

Thu all talks about non-upgradability to WP8 is an opportunity for a smart customer--you can get a very advaned smartphone with LTE, Great Screen and bunch of features ( available onnu on high-end phones) for free.
