    Siemens to supply 141 turbines for major wind power plant in US

    scandoil.com reported that Siemens has contracted with Pattern Energy Group LP to deliver, install and service a total of 141 wind turbines for the Broadview Wind project. Broadview Wind combines two adjacent projects in New Mexico and Texas with a total installed capacity of 324 megawatts (MW).

    Both onshore wind power plants will provide clean energy to meet the energy needs of approximately 180,000 average US households. Siemens’ installation of its 2.3 MW onshore wind turbines is scheduled to begin this month, with the start of operations expected in the fourth quarter of calendar year 2016.

    A long-term service and maintenance agreement was also signed for the turbines and includes Siemens’ remote monitoring and diagnostic services, which offer a proactive approach to service and maintenance to help bolster the performance of the turbines during their lifetime.

    Siemens will deliver its SWT-2.3-108 wind turbine, with a rotor diameter of 108 meters and a hub height of 80 meters. An installed power boost option provides additional electrical output under high wind conditions. The New Mexico section of the Broadview project – located near Broadview, an unincorporated community in Curry County in the east of New Mexico, about 29 miles north of the city of Clovis – will feature 105 turbines for a total of 241 MW. The Texas section – located in Deaf Smith County, approximately 100 miles southwest of Amarillo – will have 36 turbines for a total of 83 MW. Both sites benefit from constant wind conditions related to the streams of the North American wind belt. The blades for this project will be manufactured at the Siemens blade facility in Fort Madison, Iowa. The nacelles and hubs will be assembled at the Siemens facility in Hutchinson, Kansas.

    Siemens Financial Services Division (SFS) is supporting the project with loans totaling nearly $100 million. The funds provided by SFS will be used to support the customer’s equity stake in the transaction – both during and after construction.

    MÜNCHEN (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - Het Duitse technologieconcern Siemens heeft zijn winstverwachting voor heel 2016 verhoogd, omdat het afgelopen kwartaal beter is verlopen dan verwacht. Het concern wist de afgelopen maanden onder meer een aantal grote orders voor turbines en compressors voor de energiesector binnen te halen.

    De operationele winst van Siemens viel in het derde kwartaal van zijn gebroken boekjaar ten opzichte van een jaar geleden een vijfde hoger uit op 2,2 miljard euro. Dat was meer dan waar analisten van uitgingen. Ook was de winstmarge van Siemens aan de bovenkant van de eerder afgegeven bandbreedte. Voor het hele jaar verwacht Siemens nu een winst van 6,50 tot 6,70 euro per aandeel. Dat was eerder 6 tot 6,40 euro.

    Topman Joe Kaeser sprak in een toelichting van overtuigende resultaten, vooral wanneer die worden afgezet tegen de moeizame marktomstandigheden. Siemens heeft om die reden eerder omvangrijke reorganisaties aangekondigd, waarbij inmiddels duizenden banen zijn geschrapt.

    Focus

    Onder leiding van Kaeser verschuift de focus van Siemens steeds meer op richting de energiemarkt. In juni kondigde Siemens een samenwerking aan met het Spaanse Gamesa op het gebied van windenergie, waarmee het de concurrentie wil aangaan met marktleider Vestas. Ook trok Siemens eerder miljarden uit voor de overname van de Amerikaanse toeleverancier aan de olie- en gasindustrie Dresser-Rand en de energie-unit van Rolls-Royce.

    Naast de energiemarkt is Siemens ook producent van uiteenlopende zaken als treinen, medische apparatuur en fabrieksinstallaties.

    Hans, bedankt voor het verzorgen van je updates!

    Zat zojuist hele verhalen te lezen op Duitse sites want Siemens is dan toch door de 100 Euro gestoten. Begin van dit draadje rond de 67, dus is een " redelijke " belegging geweest met ups en downs, maar Siemens geeft ook altijd redelijk dividend.

    Eerste postings van 8 jaar geleden zijn het herlezen waard: D'r is ook heel wat beleggersvermogen als sneeuw voor de zon verdwenen...... En dan zijn er mensen die geld willen lenen om te gaan beleggen: ZOIETS natuurlijk NOOIT doen!

    Siemens wil investeren in Argentijnse projecten

    Duitse concern wil drie miljard dollar investeren.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Siemens heeft woensdag een intentieverklaring getekend om deel te nemen aan energie- transport- en infrastructuurprojecten in Argentinië. Dit meldde de Amerikaanse zakenkrant The Wall Street Journal donderdag op basis van uitspraken van topman Joe Kaeser van Siemens.

    De projecten zouden een totale omvang van 5,6 miljard dollar hebben. Siemens is volgens Kaeser van plan om hier drie miljard dollar van bij te dragen, hetgeen direct drieduizend banen kan creëren in Argentinië en indirect zelfs zevenduizend banen. Daarnaast wil het Duitse concern de Argentijnse activiteiten tegen 2020 verdubbelen.

    Het blijft vooralsnog onduidelijk wat de rol van Siemens exact zal zijn in de projecten en op welke manier de financiering van het bedrijf gebruikt zal worden.

    Siemens haalt miljarden op met uitgifte obligaties

    Inschrijving twee keer overtekend.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Siemens heeft 6,0 miljard dollar opgehaald met de uitgifte van middellange- en langetermijnleningen. Dit maakte het Duitse concern vrijdag bekend.

    Siemens plaatste obligaties met een looptijd van respectievelijk drie, vijf, zeven, tien en dertig jaar tegen een tarief dat gemiddeld 10 basispunten onder de eerste indicatie uitkwam waarmee de werving was gestart.

    De opbrengsten van de obligaties wil Siemens aanwenden voor algemene bedrijfsdoeleinden, inclusief herfinanciering van de schulden.

    De inschrijving was met 12 miljard dollar twee keer overtekend, waarbij met name vanuit de Verenigde Staten en Canada sprake was van veel belangstelling.

    Het betrof voor Siemens de derde plaatsing van obligaties in de Verenigde Staten.

    Het aandeel Siemens noteerde vrijdag in Frankfurt 0,3 procent lager op 105,20 euro.

    Siemens schrapt 1700 banen in Duitsland

    MÜNCHEN (AFN) - Het Duitse industrieconcern Siemens schrapt in de komende jaren tot 1700 banen in Duitsland. Daarmee valt de banenreductie uiteindelijk lager uit dan de 2000 banen waar eerder rekening mee werd gehouden. Volgens Siemens is dat het resultaat van weken onderhandelen met vertegenwoordigers van werknemers.

    Siemens maakte eerder dit jaar bekend het mes te willen zetten in personeelskosten. De maatregelen zijn volgens het concern nodig om concurrerend te blijven in de moeizame markten energie, mijnbouw en metalen. De banen zullen vooral verdwijnen bij de Duitse divisie die grote industriële aandrijvingen produceert. Volgens Siemens is dat onderdeel sterk afhankelijk van de prijs van grondstoffen.

    De dinsdag aangekondigde bezuinigingsoperatie moet in september 2020 afgerond zijn.

    Afgesplitst van Siemens en gestart op 24 Euro..... Nog maar een paar jaar geleden. Te lezen in deze draad van Siemens.

    . D'r zijn zo nu en dan van die ongelooflijke ontwikkelingen. Zou Philips Lightning dezelfde kant op gaan?

    Siemens wil investeren in Zuid-Afrikaanse energieproject - media

    Duitse concern wil bijna vier miljard dollar investeren.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Siemens overweegt deel te nemen aan een energieproject in Zuid-Afrika. Dit schreef persbureau Bloomberg maandag na een telefoongesprek met topman Sabine Dall'Omo van Siemens in Zuid-Afrika.

    Siemens wil volgens Dall'Omo voor 3,7 miljard dollar bijdragen aan het energieproject, hetgeen direct banen kan creëren in Zuid-Afrika. Het doel van het project is om twee gasinstallaties te bouwen aan de oostkust van Zuid-Afrika die elektriciteit kunnen opwekken.

    Eind volgend jaar maakt het Zuid-Afrikaanse ministerie van Energie bekend welke partij dit project krijgt toegewezen.

    Het aandeel Siemens steeg maandagmiddag in Frankfurt 0,3 procent.

    Siemens wijst bod op belang Osram van de hand - media

    Continental wilde 50 euro per aandeel betalen,

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) CEO Joe Kaeser van Siemens heeft afgelopen zomer een bod van Continental op het belang in Osram van de hand gewezen. Dit schreef het Duitse Manager-Magazin donderdag.

    Siemens heeft nog een belang van 17 procent in Osram, een concurrent van Philips Lighting. CEO Elmar Degenhart zou bereid zijn geweest om ongeveer 50 euro per aandeel Osram neer te tellen, aldus Manager-Magazin, dat zich beroept op bronnen in de markt.

    Osram is een belangrijke leverancier van autoverlichting, terwijl Continental onder meer autobanden levert.

    Nu het niet tot een deal lijkt te komen met Continental zou het volgens het Duitse zakenblad een kwestie van tijd zijn alvorens Osram in Chinese handen terecht komt.

    Zo zou onder andere de Chinese fabrikant van LED-chips San'an Optoelectronics interesse hebben getoond. Kaeser zou echter liever het belang verkopen aan het Chinese investeringsbedrijf GSR Go Scale Capital. Deze partij bracht eerder ook een bod uit op het onderdeel Lumileds van Philips, maar die deal ging niet door na bezwaren van Amerikaanse toezichthouders.

    Het aandeel Osram handelde donderdag 0,1 procent hoger op 53,89 euro. Afgelopen zomer lag de koers van het aandeel echter nog onder de 50 euro, met uitzondering van een korte periode aan het einde van juli.

    Siemens neemt Mentor Graphics over

    Dealwaarde van 4,5 miljard dollar.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Siemens wil Mentor Graphics overnemen voor 37,25 dollar per aandeel, waarmee het Amerikaanse softwarebedrijf wordt gewaardeerd op 4,5 miljard dollar. Dit maakte het Duitse conglomeraat maandag bekend.

    Het bod biedt een premie van 21 procent ten opzichte van de slotkoers van het aandeel Mentor op vrijdag 11 november. De raad van bestuur van Mentor steunt het bod en beveelt het aan bij zijn aandeelhouders. Aandeelhouder Elliott Management van Mentor heeft zich al achter het bod geschaard.

    Mentor heeft een jaaromzet van ongeveer 1,2 miljard dollar met een aangepaste operationele marge van ruim 20 procent. Het bedrijf heeft 5.700 medewerkers in dienst verspreid over 32 landen.

    Middle East to require additional power of 267 GW by 2030

    Siemens announced its outlook for the energy landscape in the Middle East until 2030. The company has mapped out the region’s current power generation scenario, upcoming challenges, allocation of energy sources and the role digitalisation will play in the future energy mix. Siemens revealed today’s power generation challenges to be affordability, sustainability, efficiency and energy security. To overcome these, power generation needs to allow for fuel diversity, and to become more affordable, reliable, highly efficient with lower emissions, and flexible enough to complement renewables.

    To this end, the Middle East will require additional power capacity of 267 GW by 2030. This will take the region’s capacity to 509 GW, from 307 GW today, resulting in an increase of 66 per cent. The next 15 years will also see 66 GW of capacity retired.

    By 2030, highly efficient combined-cycle power plants (CCPPs) will dominate the market, as their share of thermal power generation reaches 65 per cent. This trend will be underpinned by the growing importance of natural gas as the number one source of fuel for power generation. Demand for gas is expected to grow by 4.3 per cent annually until 2030. CCPPs can increase fuel efficiency in power plants by around 50 per cent. Besides building new power plants, the region has a 45 GW potential for efficiency improvements by upgrading facilities, which are older than 30 years.

    Mr Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO of Siemens Middle East and UAE, said that “The Middle East’s growing population increasingly requires reliable and efficient power supply. While the share of renewables in the region’s energy mix is set to increase, we also see natural gas as the main source of power generation by 2030, with energy efficient combined-cycle power plants leading in new capacity additions. We also see digitalisation as an essential part of the future energy landscape, harnessing value out of data, improving productivity and creating new business opportunities.”

    According to the International Data Corporation, by 2020, the amount of data globally is expected to reach 44 zettabytes – equivalent to five million laptops worth of data added every day – representing a ten-fold increase from 2013.

    As the number of devices in power grids grows, complexity and data increase. This requires better interconnectivity and flexibility to integrate new technologies and secure assets from cyber attacks. Companies can use digitalisation to protect valuable assets, reduce cost, improve optimization and flexibility, and boost operational efficiency.

    The Middle East will also see a growing mix between centralised and distributed power systems, while energy storage will gain importance as the share of renewables – solar and wind – increases and requires better integration into the grid. The growing role of renewables in the Middle East is in line with regional countries’ emissions reduction targets and climate change action plans. Power generation from solar is gaining momentum, with around 16 GW of capacity additions expected by 2030.

    In the UAE, holder of about six per cent of global oil reserves, the growth in power demand is among the highest in the region. By 2030, the country’s installed power generation capacity is expected to reach 60 GW, comprising of 44 GW from CCPPs, and the remaining 20 GW from simple-cycle power plants, renewables, nuclear and other.

    In the UAE, Siemens turbines account for 40 per cent of the country’s power generation capacity. In Qatar, Siemens’ solutions are responsible for transmitting and distributing over 60 percent of power generated in the country. The company is also building a total of three natural gas-fired CCPPs with a total capacity of 14.4 GW in Egypt. The power plants will increase current generation capacity by up to one-third by 2020.

    Siemens to increase capacity of Egyptian electricity grid by 3,200 MW

    The Daily News reported that Siemens is set to increase the capacity of the national electricity grid by 3,200 MW through the Beni Suef, the New Administrative Capital, and Borollos power plants.

    Sources at the Ministry of Electricity said that the testing of the Beni Suef plant is ongoing to produce 800 MW. The pilot run will end on Thursday. He noted that four production units in the same plant have been introduced last week to produce 1,600 MW, adding that the output of the Beni Suef power plant will reach 2,400 MW through six production units.

    Moreover, the source said that Siemens is testing the New Administrative Capital power plant to output 400 MW, to be linked to the national grid on Wednesday. The linking of the Borollos plant of 400 MW will also be completed on Thursday.

    According to the government’s agreement with Siemens, a total of 4,400 MW should be linked to the national grid by the end of this month. However, the nature of the Borollos power plant’s location hindered the work. Yet, 1,200 MW are set to be added through three production units mid January.

    The source explained that the location of the Borollos plant was challenging to establish and required placing poles 30 metres beneath the surface, noting that the three units usually require 18 months to become operative, but Siemens is set to complete all works in three weeks only.

    Furthermore, he pointed out that Siemens is committed to the timetable for the implementation of the three projects, and will complete the delivery of the agreed capacity before the date specified in the contract by three full months.

    The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) signed contracts with Siemens last year to implement three combined-cycle power plants with a total capacity of 14,400 MW. The three power plants are Borollos, Beni Suef, and the New Administrative Capital.

    Siemens is implementing the three projects through the EBC+Finance scheme, while the EEHC will repay the loan over several years.

    Siemens receive an order from Castle Peak Power

    Diesel Gas Turbine reported that Siemens received an order from Castle Peak Power Co. Ltd. for the delivery of a power block for a new combined cycle unit in its Black Point Power Station in Tuen Mun, in the northwest of Hong Kong.

    This marks the first order for Siemens power plant components from Hong Kong in 20 years. CAPCO is a joint venture of China Southern Power Grid International Limited and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power). Scheduled to be in operation before 2020, the plant will have an installed total capacity of 550 MW to supply approximately a million households with electricity. Siemens is delivering an H-class gas turbine to Greater China for the first time, and has now sold the total of 80 SGT-8000H units worldwide.

    The total order for Siemens includes the delivery and commissioning of the power block, with a single-shaft configuration. The power block’s core will consist of an SGT5-8000H gas turbine, an SST5-5000 steam turbine, a water-cooled SGen5-3000W generator manufactured in Germany as well as the SPPA-T3000 control system.

    Mr Lothar Herrmann, CEO of Siemens Greater China, said that “We are pleased that this strategic success enables us to achieve a breakthrough in Hong Kong’s challenging energy market. With our high-efficiency power plant technology and our broad experience in constructing large-scale plants , we will make contribution to a sustainable energy future in Hong Kong joining hands with our customer.     Currently, Hong Kong has a total installed capacity of about 12.6 GW and uses primarily fossil fuels to generate electricity. Hong Kong’s government set an objective to increase local gas generation to around 50 percent of the total fuel mix for electricity generation by 2020, while decreasing emissions and pollutant output from power generation sector. With its high efficiency, the Siemens H-class gas turbine offers the technological foundation to supply Hong Kong with energy in an efficient, resource-saving manner.

    Siemens verbetert winstgevendheid

    Industrieel conglomeraat verhoogt outlook.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Siemens heeft in het eerste kwartaal van het fiscale boekjaar 2016/2017 de omzet fractioneel zien oplopen, maar zag daarbij de winstgevend sterk verbeteren. Dit bleek dinsdag nabeurs uit de financiële resultaten van het Duitse conglomeraat.

    De omzet van het bedrijf uit München steeg met 1 procent naar 19.119 miljoen euro. Gerekend tegen constante wisselkoersen steeg de omzet met 3 procent.

    Het operationeel resultaat uit voortgezette activiteiten steeg met 30 procent naar 1.927 miljoen euro. De nettowinst steeg 25 procent naar 1.938 miljoen euro.

    Siemens maakte wel een daling in de orderportefeuille bekend van 14 procent op jaarbasis, die daarmee uitkwam op 19.554 miljoen euro. De onderneming wees met betrekking tot de orders wel op een book-to-bill-ratio van 1,02.

    Outlook

    Het bedrijf was aanvankelijk voorzichtig voor het nu lopende boekjaar, maar blijkt nu wat minder terughoudend. Voor Industrial Business wordt nu een winstmarge van 11,0 procent verwacht. Eerder lag de verwachting tussen 10,5 procent tot 11,5 procent. De winst per aandeel komt nu naar verwachting uit tussen de 7,20 en 7,70 euro. Bij de jaarcijfers lag de prognose van het bedrijf nog tussen 6,80 en 7,20 euro.

    Het aandeel Siemens sloot dinsdag 1,6 procent lager op 116,25 euro.

    Siemens-chef bezorgd om VS onder Trump

    MÜNCHEN (AFN) - Siemens-topman Joe Kaeser maakt zich zorgen om de ontwikkelingen in de Verenigde Staten sinds Donald Trump daar president is. Het industriële conglomeraat dat meer dan 50.000 werknemers in de VS heeft, beraadt zich nog op hoe om te gaan met de nieuwe inreisbeperkingen en handelsbarrières.

    ,,Het baart ons zorgen dat we geluiden opvangen die niet passen bij het beeld dat we hebben van het land", zei Kaeser. ,,Het land heeft een grote traditie van vrijheid. We begrijpen dat veiligheid een issue is, maar het zou zonde zijn als dit ten koste gaat van bepaalde verworvenheden."

    Kaeser maande Trump tot voorzichtigheid, maar zei niet concreet wat de president anders zou moeten doen. Siemens haalt 21 procent van zijn omzet uit de VS, waarmee het de belangrijkste afzetmarkt is voor het Duitse bedrijf.

    Siemens is zeker niet het enige grote bedrijf dat zijn vraagtekens zet bij het nieuwe beleid van de VS. Vooral het vorig weekend aangekondigde inreisverbod voor mensen uit zeven overwegend islamitische landen zorgde voor kritiek.

    Topman Eric Schmidt van Google-moederbedrijf Alphabet noemde het beleid van de nieuwe regering volgens diverse Amerikaanse media ,,kwaadaardig". De baas van koffieketen Starbucks kondigde aan 10.000 vluchtelingen een baan aan te bieden en ook onder meer de topmensen van technologiebedrijven Netflix, Microsoft, Google, Uber, Airbnb en de bank JPMorgan spraken zich fel uit tegen de maatregel.

    Siemens to supply turnkey combined cycle power plant to Thailand

    Siemens, together with its Japanese consortium partner Marubeni Corporation, has received an order for the delivery of a turnkey combined cycle power plant to Thailand.

    Siemens Win Power secures wind turbines contract in northern Germany

    Power-Technology reported that Siemens Wind Power has secured two contracts for supplying 13 of its gearless turbines to Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein states in northern Germany.

    As part of the deal, Siemens Wind Power will be responsible for installation and commissioning its six units of SWT-3.3-130 to WPD Windpark Damme, an electric utility company operating in Damme region.

    Siemens will supply seven units of the type SWT-3.0-113, for the Karlum project in the northern part of Schleswig-Holstein.

    The deal will also see Siemens provide maintenance services to WPD Windpark Damme for a period of 15 years and 20 years for the Karlum project.

    Siemens has already worked with WPD Windpark Damme last year, where it commissioned its wind turbines for a project near the A1 motorway and was connected to the power grid in the same year.
