MediaCom and LBi win Etihad’s global media accounts| Jan 31, 2012

MediaCom and LBi have won Etihad’s global media accounts following a multi-agency review.

WPP agency MediaCom will handle above-the-line media planning and buying, while LBi will take care of digital media strategy, search and affiliate marketing. The incumbent on the media buying account was OMD, which had held the business since 2005, when the airline last reviewed its creative and media accounts. OMD’s sister Omnicom agency TBWA currently holds the creative account, although that is also under review, with a decision thought to be imminent.

Both MediaCom and LBi, which originally won the airline’s global digital account in 2008, will service the account (estimated to be worth $160 million) from Abu Dhabi.

Etihad said the selection was the outcome of a “routine agency review process during which Etihad Airways invited select global media agency networks to respond to a creative and media brief”.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad’s chief commercial officer, said: “Etihad Airways is the fastest growing airline in the history of commercial aviation, so we sought out media agencies that can not only keep up with our pace of growth, but also help us bring our brand to a global audience in a more innovative and effective way.

“This is the first time we have split our ATL and digital media into separate contracts, which we elected to do simply to ensure that we are able to best leverage specialist agency strengths.”

Anil Pillai, LBi’s UK Chief Executive, said: “Already 2012 is shaping up to be a great year for LBi with a host of exciting client opportunities on the horizon. Gavin and Gemma are both great characters and will be central to our constantly evolving agency culture.”

    Monday 21, November 2011

Global marketing and technology agency LBi has opened for business in Sydney in response to rapidly growing client demand.

According to the agency, he move marks LBi's ongoing commitment to helping businesses of all shapes and sizes decide what's next ... and then taking them there.
LBi's Sydney arm will offer a fully blended range of services to the Australian market including platform innovation, service design, branded content, mobile, CRM, social media, usability and analytics.

Early next year the agency will launch an integrated portfolio of media services including digital display, search, social search and affiliate marketing.

LBi has already been named as digital agency of record by Johnson & Johnson after it won a place on the APAC roster. The appointment will see the agency work across a number of brands for the global healthcare and pharmaceutical company.

LBi has also started working with Pacific Beverages on its premium beer brand Peroni. The coming months will see the launch of a series of ground-breaking digital projects created in partnership with international markets, as well as developed specifically for Australia and New Zealand.

LBi has a growing Australian team that will work alongside the agency's global network of 1,900 digital specialists in 18 countries around the world. The agency has a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region with offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Mumbai.

Laurent Ezekiel (pictured), Global Client Services Director at LBi, said: "Opening up LBi in Australia is a hugely important move for us given the increasing demand for digital excellence from existing and potential clients. As well as allowing LBi to tap into a booming domestic market, the move underlines our commitment to our existing customers who require our blended services on a global scale.
