    Honda Adds New "Element" To Lineup Model X Concept becomes reality in December NEW YORK, March 27, 2002 – Honda adds a new "element" to its lineup late this year with an all-new light truck named "Element" and based on the popular Model X concept vehicle, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced at the New York International Auto Show. Element, with its straightforward exterior design and functional interior, combines the best features of a pickup truck and a SUV and is targeted squarely at young, active buyers. The Element delivers on themes featured in the Model X concept vehicle unveiled at the 2001 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It received a strong response on the auto show circuit, earning a fast track to production. "There is a whole new generation of buyers, 71 million strong, entering the automotive market," said Tom Elliott, American Honda executive vice president. "The Element is designed for those who surf, snowboard, mountain bike and just about anything else. Right now they’re trying to adapt to cars, trucks and SUVs, but there is no one vehicle that meets their needs." Element is designed to serve as a combination dorm room/base camp for active young buyers. The flexible interior hauls four adults and their gear comfortably on road trips; or the rear seats fold away to create a large and open interior capable of hauling just about anything that can be used during the course of a weekend. The rugged interior is also designed to be easy-to-clean. Additional features include a high-power AM/FM radio with 6-disc CD player and MP3 player or video game outlets. A key design feature of the Element is the center opening "swing-wide" doors that have no B-pillar for maximum cargo loading flexibility. Honda also has targeted a Five Star side impact safety rating for Element. The Element is based on Honda’s Global Compact Platform and will be powered by a 2.4-liter, 160-horsepower, i-VTEC, 4-cylinder engine. It will be available with either front-wheel-drive or Honda’s Real Time 4WD™. Both5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions will be available. The Element will be built at Honda of America Mfg.’s East Liberty (Ohio) Plant. Element will go sale in December 2002, with first year sales (2003) of about 50,000 expected. Pricing will range from $16,000 to $21,000.

    Mated to this high output powerplant is a unique 6-speed transmission allowing the driver to chose either manual or automatic mode at his or her discretion. When placed in manual mode, the DN-X operates as a clutchless, 6-speed manual transmission similar to those found in Formula One race cars. Shifting gears is accomplished using controls located on the steering wheel. Or, if desired, the DN-X can be driven as an automatic by selecting "D" on the center console.

    ThePronk als je er geen ineteresse in heb houd je melding gewoon voor je of weet je uberhaupt wel waar antonov mee bezig is. Dit zijn de nieuwe modellen van honda waar een contract mee is afgesloten dus alle info is welkom betreft honda. Ik heb jou ook nog nooit eerder gezien op dit forum dus houd je aub een beetje in want dit is niet echt een goede binnenkomer. Ga zelf ook eens opzoek naar info en zo niet houd dan gewoon je mond en lees die berichten die je wel interessant vind. Dank U Nassie

    Beste Nassie, Als ik een normale vraag stel, verwacht ik een normaal antwoord. Nergens in dat mooie verhaal staat een aanwijzing dat hier een Antonov versnellingbak zou gebruik kunnen worden. Op deze side, welke ik regelmatig volg, staan wel meer van dit soort fraaie verhalen, welke verder geen enkele reele info bevatten. Ik ben dus gewoon nieuwsgierig wat dit bericht ons zou moeten leren. Verder is je taalgebruik in je antwoord onnodig denigrerend; als of jij de wijsheid in pacht hebt. Ik bezit overigens al Antonovs sinds de introductie van dit aandeel. Dus dat was al toen jij nog waarschijnlijk in de luiers zat. Groetjes

    THE pronk? Iedereen moet datgene uit een posting halen wat hij er uit denkt te kunnen halen. Je moet zelf maar beoordelen of de postings uit het verleden wel of geen zin hebben. Lees echter wel goed! Een heleboel berichten zijn voor veel mensen te lang maar bevatten weldegelijk belangrijke informatie. Dat je afhaakt is vooral jammer voor jezelf. Je denkt dan dat het een slecht of waardeloos bericht was terwijl je juist de essentie hebt gemist. Tevens kan ik me voorstellen dat het inhoudelijk allemaal wat te hoog gegrepen is voor je. Stel dan gerust een vraag. Je krijgt waarschijnlijk nog antwoord ook. Als je op deze manier met het forum omgaat heb je er zelf wel wat aan. Je zal dan ook niet zo snel meer zeggen dat het allemaal bullshit is. Elke bijdrage is zinnig. De mate van zinnigheid ligt vooral aan jezelf. Dus als jij een bericht belachelijk vindt zit dat vooral in jezelf. Denk maar aan je lagere schooltijd. Toen zei de meester toch ook vaak tegen jou dat domme vragen niet bestaan!

    Sorry Nassie, maar ik ben het met The Pronk eens dat er in je bericht met geen woord over Antonov wordt gerept. Tuurlijk is er een contract met Honda afgesloten, maar dat betekent niet dat Automatic Transmission synoniem is voor Antonov. Het zou natuurlijk leuk zijn als Honda al zijn nieuwe modellen uitrust met Antonov bakken, maar laten we eerst maar eens de persberichten en 5 april afwachten. Misschien dat we daar wat meer info te horen krijgen. Ben bang van niet. Ik denk dat de halfjaarcijfers meer duidelijkheid zullen verschaffen. We zullen wel zien. Ik vind alleen dat je niet zo gepikeerd moet reageren op iemand die gewoon een opmerking plaatst. Kijk naar je eigen posting: 'Vindt je een posting onzinnig, reageer dan niet', dat zou de postings een stuk korter houden. Met vriendelijke groeten, Arjen (die maar 600 Antonovjes heeft, maar als die elk €10 waard worden, ben ik heel tevreden, ook als dat nog vijf jaar duurt.)

    THE Pronk, het enige dat ik wilde aangeven was dat Model X die nu omgedoopt is tot de "Element" beschikbaar gaat worden met zoals blijkt een viertraps automaat, wat althans voor mij en menig forumlid nog niet bekend was, of het een antonvtransmissie betreft valt momenteel nog niet te beoordelen daar er nog geen veredere specs voorhanden zijn, wordt vervolgd zou ik zeggen...     Dijker, Mijn inziens, een grote kans dat model X met een 4 bak automaat wordt geleverd die gebruikt maakt van de Antonov patenten/technologie ( maar het blijft een Honda transmissie voor de buiten wereld )....en in de US rijdt deze doelgroep ( voor model X ) gewoon bijna allemaal automaat...en niet alleen deze doelgroep.!     Ik verwacht dat de Honda's met Antonov patenten voor de automatische en handgeschakelde versies dezelfde transmissie zullen gebruiken. Dit is een van de heel belangrijke voordelen die kleven aan de patenten. Volgens mij valt de Model X dan af. De Acura is volgens mij wel voorzien van deze specialiteit.

    HONDA SUV IS ELEMENTAL In New York Honda took the wraps off the production version of its boxy Model X, which will be renamed the Element when it hits dealer showrooms late in the year. The production car “is amazingly similar” to the show truck, says designer Eric Schumaker. “We got 98 percent of what we wanted on the product,” just about everything but Model X’s big electric sunroof. Instead, the Element will get a removable glass panel. The box on wheels is being aimed at emerging Gen-Y consumers, who are expected to become the largest-ever buying group by the end of the decade. What these buyers are looking for, declared Honda EVP Tom Elliott, is a vehicle “that can serve as a mobile dorm room or base camp.” The Element will feature a flexible interior that, with the rear seats folded down, can hold a pair of mountain bikes with wheels still attached. It will be powered by a 160-hp 2.4-liter in-line four (though a larger engine is under consideration). It will be offered with stick or manual and in front- or all-wheel-drive configurations. The Element will be built in Honda’s East Liberty, Ohio, plant and export options are under study. Look for prices to range between $16,000 and $21,000

    Beste Dijker, Dat is nu precies wat ik bedoel. Je onderwerp is: Model X met AT!! N.a.v. de !! ga ik kijken, want denk ik dat nu eindelijk iemand iets heeft gevonden. Maar niets uit het stukje blijkt dat er van een Antonov bak sprake is. Gebruik dan geen AT!! maat AT??; ook dat dekt de lading niet, maar is in ieder geval beter. Mvg Tom

    hoi alle onderzoekers, ik snap niet alles wat jullie boven water krijgen, maar dankzij jullie onderzoek heb ik wel veel vertrouwen in antonov gekregen, zoveel zelfs dat ik er tot mijn nek toe inzit (22900 stukjes en binnenkort misschien 35000). ik spreek dan ook mijn waardering ui t voor al jullie werk en tijd die jullie daarin steken. vooral doorgaan zo en laat de negativos maar lekker lullen. gr piet
