Siemens Mobility Power Supply System for Jurong Region Line Strategic Research Institute Published on : 04 Jul, 2022, 6:30 am A Siemens Mobility led consortium that includes Concord Corporation has been awarded a contract by the Singapore Land Transport Authority for the design, supply, testing, and commissioning of the power supply system for the future Jurong Region Line. The system will be designed to be upgradeable, with interfaces for connecting power supply and signaling that will meet industry standards. For this project, Siemens Mobility will specifically provide two high-voltage systems consisting of gas-insulated switchgear and Intake Transformers OF 66kV. This includes a medium voltage system with 22kV Switchgear Panels and service transformers, as well as 750V DC system & track side equipment. Condition monitoring systems will also be provided to enable seamless monitoring of the equipment performance. The Jurong Region Line is Singapore's seventh MRT line, fully constructed on elevated tracks with 24 stations and a length of 24 kILOMETERS. The planned opening will happen in three stages. In 2027 the first 10 stations will be opened, followed by seven stations one year later and another seven in 2029. It will serve both existing and future developments in the western part of Singapore and will significantly improve connectivity of the region and support the development of the Jurong area.

Volkswagen together with Siemens, the leading global technology company, is investing USD 450 million, valuing Electrify America at USD 2.45 billion. Through its financing arm Siemens Financial Services, Siemens becomes a minority shareholder in Electrify America with a low triple-digit million USD investment and will hold a seat on the board. With Siemens, Electrify America receives its first external investor as well as an important strategic technology partner. In line with Volkswagen's NEW AUTO strategy, this step consistently accelerates the comfort, quality and expansion of the public charging infrastructure in the US and Canada. With the NEW AUTO strategy, the Volkswagen Group has made charging and energy its core business. Like no other car manufacturer, the company is investing in the development of an open fast-charging network worldwide. By 2025, around 45,000 High Power Charging points are planned in Europe, China and the USA together with partners. Siemens Gamesa to Supply Turbines to RWE for Plish Offshore Wind Strategic Research Institute Published on : 05 Jul, 2022, 6:30 am RWE & Siemens Gamesa have joined forces to accelerate the offshore wind growth in Poland. RWE selected Siemens Gamesa as preferred supplier for their FEW Baltic II offshore wind project. The 350 MW wind farm is intended to utilize 25 of Siemens Gamesa’s flagship SG 14-236 DD offshore wind turbines. A Service agreement is included. Subject to the final investment decision, construction works could commence as early as 2024. Once fully operational, FEW Baltic II will contribute to Poland’s energy transition by producing enough green electricity to supply the equivalent needs of around 350,000 Polish households. The agreement with RWE for its FEW Baltic II offshore wind farm will contribute to Siemens Gamesa’s ongoing cooperation with the Polish wind power supply chain with the average yearly purchases of the goods and services in Poland equal to more than EUR 250 million. To support the realisation of RWE’s F.E.W. Baltic II and various future offshore projects the new Siemens Gamesa Baltic Sea Offshore Execution center will consist of more than 150 experts. The specialists hired for this hub will cover such areas as preassembly activities, project management, construction management, commissioning for offshore wind farms in Poland and many other countries. Gdansk will be the main office location, and the first recruitments have begun. Together with the existing 20-member Siemens Gamesa Offshore Sales team in Poland, this will be the largest operation of its kind type in the Polish offshore wind industry. For the operation and maintenance of its F.E.W. Baltic II project, RWE has chosen the Port of Ustka. With the planned service station in the Polish port, RWE intends to contribute to the local economy and society by creating up to 50 new jobs in the long run. It is expected that the service station will be ready by 2025. RWE plans to serve its wind farm for at least 25-30 years from this port.
Siemens Gamesa & Doosan Sign MoU for Offshore Wind Projects Strategic Research Institute Published on : 06 Jul, 2022, 6:30 am Siemens Gamesa & Doosan Enerbility have recently signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding to investigate strategic cooperation within offshore wind power activities. The MoU, signed in Copenhagen, Denmark, covers investigations of potential collaboration between the two companies on several Korea-focused fronts. They are related to collaboration on large-scale offshore wind turbines, sharing of major services including construction of new Korean production facilities, the supply of wind turbine parts, offshore wind turbine installation, and turbine maintenance, among others. In the strategic MoU, Doosan Enerbility is intended to contribute its experienced track record, domestic production base, and business capabilities, complementing Siemens Gamesa's global know-how in offshore wind. The MoU will investigate potential products and services optimized for the domestic Korean offshore wind market. It will also explore a Korean domestic supply chain and related industries. Furthermore, it will study potential job creation and industrialization in the Korean offshore wind power market.
Siemens to Deliver Mireo Plus Hydrogen Trains to Berlin-Region Strategic Research Institute Published on : 06 Jul, 2022, 6:30 am Siemens Mobility has been commissioned by Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn NEB to deliver seven, two-car Mireo Plus H trains for the Heidekrautbahn network RB27 in the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region. Equipped with a fuel cell drive system and a lithium-ion battery, this second-generation hydrogen train provides completely CO2 emission-free mobility. The Mireo Plus H is a highly advanced, second-generation hydrogen train featuring a hydrogen-powered traction system with 1.7 MW of traction power providing up to 1.1 meter per second acceleration and a top speed of 160 kilometer per hour. In addition, the train has the lowest lifecycle costs on the market and can be refuelled in just 15 minutes. The Mireo’s energy-saving and environmentally friendly design is based on its self-supporting, welded, and integral lightweight aluminium construction. The train’s improved aerodynamics together with its energy-efficient components and intelligent electrical system management also help reduce emissions and the use of resources. The two-car trains feature comfortably designed, spacious interiors. Passengers benefit from free Wi-Fi, dynamic real-time displays of passenger information, a specially designated family area, and two multi-purpose areas with generous space for buggies, wheelchairs and up to twelve bicycles. The powered cars have three doors on each side that enable passengers in wheelchairs or with buggies to easily board or exit the train, even on lower platforms. A new signage design in the cars also facilitates speedy, uncomplicated and, above all, barrier-free passenger exchanges. The order placed with Siemens Mobility also includes a ten-year service and spare parts contract (TSSSA) up to 2034. Siemens Mobility will thus ensure the availability of the trains over the entire term of the transport contract. The service contract not only covers the provision of all necessary maintenance, servicing, and repair activities, but their continuous further development and adaptation to the customer-specific use of the trains operating on the Heidekrautbahn.
Siemens Gamesa to Supply Turbines to Orstead Borkum Riffgrund Strategic Research Institute Published on : 07 Jul, 2022, 6:30 am Siemens Gamesa is leading the offshore revolution in Germany with a 913 MW firm order from customer Ørsted. 50 km off the coast of Lower Saxony in the German North Sea, three constituent areas within the overall development contribute to the 913 MW total export capacity. In addition to the installation of the 83 offshore direct drive wind turbines, Siemens Gamesa has been awarded a multi-year contract to service the turbines. The installation of Borkum Riffgrund 3 is expected to begin 2024, with commissioning anticipated to be completed in 2025. The preferred supplier agreement between Siemens Gamesa and Ørsted for Borkum Riffgrund 3 was announced on March 4, 2020. The SG 11.0-200 DD machine which will be used features a capacity of 11 MW with a 200-meter rotor. It utilizes 97-meter-long Siemens Gamesa B97 blades, with a huge 31,400 square meters swept area.
Siemens Gamesa to Supply Turbines to Kinesis Enerji in Spain Strategic Research Institute Published on : 11 Jul, 2022, 6:30 am Siemens Gamesa has signed its first contract with Turkish energy investor Kinesis Enerji in Spain for the 50 MW wind farm in the north of Spain. The wind farm will be equipped with ten SG 5.0-145 turbines and is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2024. The contract also includes the maintenance of the turbines for a period of 25 years. The energy that this wind farm will produce will provide enough electricity to power 40,000 households and help to avoid the emission of 132,000 tons of CO2 a year, the equivalent of the emissions of close to 80,000 vehicles. To achieve this CO2 saving, 5.7 million trees would need to be planted. The construction of the wind farm will also boost the activity of Siemens Gamesa's plants in Spain, as the 10 nacelles for the wind farm will be assembled at the Ágreda Soria plant, the gearboxes will be produced at the factories in Asteasu Guipúzcoa, Lerma Burgos and the city of Burgos, and the electrical components will be produced at the factories in Reinosa Cantabria, San Fernando de Henares Madrid and Benisanó Valencia. This new project will also increase the activity of Siemens Gamesa's Spanish suppliers, which will be involved in the production of various components. In 2021, Siemens Gamesa's purchases from Spanish companies amounted to EUR 1,115 million. The agreement helps Siemens Gamesa to consolidate its leadership in Spain, where it currently has around 15 GW installed, 53% of the wind energy in the country and which, according to the latest available data from the Spanish Wind Energy Association, reached 28.1 GW in 2021.

Following its expected commissioning in 2024, the 75 MW Gunwi wind farm will generate enough electricity to power 64,000 local households, forming part of the country’s efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and boost the target of renewable energy generation to 20% in the electricity mix by 2030. Located in Gunwi-gun, Kyongsangbuk-do province, the Gunwi wind farm will feature SG 5.0-145, one of the most powerful turbines available in the local market, to best utilize the wind resources from a mountainous area. To optimize the wind farm performance, Siemens Gamesa also signed a long-term service agreement of 20 years to provide operation and maintenance services. Operating as a subsidiary of South Korea’s leading conglomerate SK Group, SK D&D has been increasing its investment in the renewables market to fulfil its ESG commitments, including forging a partnership with Siemens Gamesa since 2014 to already develop two wind power projects totaling 84 MW.
Siemens Gamesa Turbines for Gennaker Offshore Wind Project Strategic Research Institute Published on : 14 Jul, 2022, 7:34 am Siemens Gamesa and wpd have signed a Master Supply Agreement for the massive 927-MW Gennaker offshore wind power plant. Located a mere 15 km off the German coast, the powerful project is intended to feature 103 Siemens Gamesa Direct Drive offshore wind turbines each with a 167-meter rotor. With the PowerBoost option engaged, each machine’s capacity can reach up to 9 MW, from its nameplate capacity of 8.6 MW. A 20-year Service agreement is included in the agreement. Each Siemens Gamesa Direct Drive offshore wind turbine intended for the Gennaker project will utilize a flex rating, beginning at 8.6 MW of capacity. The 167-meter diameter rotor utilizes Siemens Gamesa B81 IntegralBlades and features a swept area of 21,900 square meters. These machines are a part of the SG 8.0-167 DD turbine family. More than 3.2 GW of this machine type have been installed globally in projects in numerous countries, making it one of the mostly successful offshore wind turbines in the world. Installation of all 103 Siemens Gamesa offshore Direct Drive machines is expected to be completed in 2026. The agreement remains subject to certain conditions including the confirmation of the grid connection date. This is expected during the second half of calendar year 2023. The four other projects are Butendiek at 288 MW in Germany, inaugurated in 2015; Yunlin at 640 MW in Taiwan currently under installation; Fécamp at 498 MW and Courseulles-sur mer at 448 MW, both in France and both under preparation for installation in the coming years.
São Paulo’s Metro Line 4 Opens with Siemens CBTC Technology Strategic Research Institute Published on : 25 Jul, 2.022, 6:30 am ViaQuatro has successfully begun full operation of São Paulo’s entire Metro Line 4 with Siemens Mobility’s Communications-Based Train Control signaling. Since its first stretch opened in 2010, it has been the first fully automated metro line in South America that can operate with GoA 4, the highest grade of automation that allows trains to be automatically controlled and operated. The digitalized and optimized system allows for a more efficient and centralized control of operations, while also increasing the safety, availability, and capacity across the entire network. Also known as “the Yellow Line,” Line 4 will be able to carry up to one million passengers per day. Originating at the main railway station “Estação da Luz” and recently extended until “Vila Sônia,” the line spreads over 15 km, using a fleet of 29 trains to connect 11 stations. The line is operated by ViaQuatro, one of the companies of CCR Mobilidade, the division responsible for all urban mobility projects of the CCR Group in Brazil. Siemens Mobility has been a technology provider for CCR Mobilidade for many years. This includes recent projects for signaling and electrification of the metropolitan Lines 8 and 9 in São Paulo, as well as advanced technology for two surface Metro Lines (GoA2) in Salvador, Bahia. The Siemens Mobility CBTC solution Trainguard MT is the most extensively deployed automatic train control system in the world and is used by many operators, including Paris, Beijing, New York, London, Hong Kong, and Buenos Aires.
Siemens Gamesa & Arise Join for Foresight’s Kolvallen Wind Farm Strategic Research Institute Published on : 28 Jul, 2.022, 6:30 am Siemens Gamesa, Arise and Foresight Group will collaborate for another major project in Sweden using the company’s most competitive onshore platform, the Siemens Gamesa 5.X. The project will be acquired by Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners, Foresight Group’s flagship energy transition fund. The 277-MW Kölvallen project is due to be installed in early 2025, and will feature 41 units of the SG 6.6-170 model and one SG 6.6-155. The wind farm will stand close to the Skaftåsen project led by the three companies and currently being installed. Skaftåsen was the first to use the Siemens Gamesa 5.X platform, one of the most competitive in terms of Levelized Cost of Energy in the onshore landscape. The contract between the parties is also noteworthy for its lengthy 35-year service contract, assuring the machines operate to the best of their capacities over their lifetime. They will sit on towers of 135 meters for the SG 6.6-170 turbines, and on a 122.5-meter tower for the SG 6.6-155 version. Commercial bank NORD/LB provided a financing package as the sole Mandated Lead Arranger to support the construction of the wind farm with Foresight advised by Newsec Infra on the debt structuring of the deal.
Siemens Gamesa to Supply Wind Turbines for Ishikari Offshore Wind Strategic Research Institute Published on : 1 Aug, 2.022, 5:30 am Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has been awarded the firm order for the 112-MW Ishikari offshore wind power project in Japan from Green Power Investment. The project will be located approximately five kilometers from shore of the Ishikari Bay in Hokkaido, Japan. The order includes 14 SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8 megawatts and featuring a 167-meter rotor. Additionally, the order includes a 15-year full-scope service agreement. The installation of the Ishikari offshore wind power project is planned to begin in July 2023. The SG 8.0-167 DD is built specifically for offshore use. It is tailored to meet local codes and standards regarding typhoons, seismic activities, 50 Hertz operation, as well as operation in high and low ambient temperatures. The 167-meter diameter rotor has a swept area of 21,900 m2, and utilizes B81 blades, each measuring 81.4 meters. ClassNK certification of the wind turbine confirms that the SG 8.0-167 DD meets the stringent, technical standards required for the Ishikari project. Furthermore, the Ishikari project itself is the second commercial scale project to receive ClassNK certification. This is mandatory for the Japanese government to approve construction.
Siemens Healthineers handhaaft outlook Ondanks verslechtering markt. (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Siemens Healthineers heeft na meermaals de outlook voor 2022 te hebben verhoogd, deze verwachtingen bij de halfjaarcijfers ongemoeid gelaten, ondanks dat de marktomstandigheden nog uitdagender zijn geworden. Dit bleek woensdag voorbeurs uit de cijfers van de concurrent van Philips. Voor heel dit boekjaar rekent het bedrijf op een vergelijkbare omzetgroei van 5,5 tot 7,5 procent. De aangepaste winst per aandeel zal tussen de 2,25 en 2,35 euro liggen. De omzet in het derde kwartaal, dat eindigde op 30 juni, steeg met 3,7 procent op jaarbasis naar 5,19 miljard euro. Op een vergelijkbare basis daalde de omzet echter met 5,7 procent. Dit had deels te maken met een daling in de verkoop van Covid-allergeentesten. Ook lockdowns in China drukten op de resultaten. De aangepaste EBIT kwam 19 procent lager uit op 765 miljoen euro, en de bijbehorende marge op 14,7 procent tegen 18,8 procent een jaar eerder. Resultaten Siemens Energy onder druk Wel flink meer orders geboekt. (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Siemens Energy heeft in het afgelopen kwartaal de resultaten onder druk zien staan. Dit bleek maandag uit de cijfers van het Duitse bedrijf. Terwijl het aantal orders in het derde kwartaal van het lopende gebroken boekjaar met 60 procent steeg, tot 9,84 miljard euro, zag Siemens de omzet met 4,7 procent dalen tot circa 7,3 miljard euro. De orders lagen aanzienlijk hoger dan analisten hadden verwacht. De consensus rekende op 8,6 miljard euro aan nieuwe opdrachten. De aangepaste EBITA dook diep in het rood, en daalde van een verlies van 124 naar een min van 429 miljoen euro. Netto boekte Siemens een verlies van 533 miljoen euro, tegenover 307 miljoen een jaar eerder. Analisten rekenden vooraf op een omzet van 7,2 miljard euro met een negatieve EBITA van 202 miljoen euro. De vrije kasstroom stond ook onder druk en daalde van 328 miljoen euro positief naar 25 miljoen euro negatief. Volgens CEO Christian Bruch had de slechte prestatie van Siemens Gamesa een negatieve impact op de cijfers, maar een ommekeer valt te verwachten, aldus de topman, wijzend op het nieuwe management bij Gamesa. Outlook Siemens Energy verwacht voor het hele boekjaar een vergelijkbare omzet die met maximaal 3 procent stijgt of met 2 procent daalt. De aangepaste EBITA-marge zal 2 tot 4 procent bedragen, voorziet het bedrijf. Wel denkt Siemens Energy aan de onderkant van de bandbreedtes uit te komen. Knorr-Bremse to Equip Siemens Velaro High-Speed Trains in Egypt Strategic Research Institute Published on : 8 Aug, 2022, 5:30 am Knorr-Bremse has been awarded a major supply contract by Siemens Mobility. Starting in Q4 2023 and extending to Q1 2026, Knorr-Bremse will be equipping 15 high-speed Velaro Egypt electric multiple units with braking systems and entrance systems. The order includes an option for the equipment of another 26 trainsets. In addition, Knorr-Bremse’s Evac brand will supply sanitary systems for 34 Desiro High Capacity regional passenger trains built by Siemens Mobility for the Egyptian market, including an option for another 60 sanitary systems. The trains will run between Alexandria and other major Egyptian hubs, carrying millions of passengers each year at speeds of up to 230 km/h (155 mph). The orders were placed with Knorr-Bremse in the first and second quarters of 2022. The braking systems will include all bogie equipment, axle-mounted and wheel brake calipers, steel discs and sintered pads, as well as brake control systems with integrated smart braking computers. Compressed air will be supplied by enclosed PistonSupply Eco compressors. The braking system as a whole will deliver safe, highly efficient braking performance in Egypt’s hot, dusty and consequently rather challenging desert climate. Similarly, Knorr-Bremse will supply service-proven, reliable and pressure-tight doors – including boarding aids – for the Velaro trains through the Group’s global IFE brand, the world’s leading supplier of rail vehicle entrance systems. The doors will help keep passengers safe as they enter and exit from railcars, and contribute to reliable train connections. In addition, Knorr-Bremse will be fitting 34 of Siemens Mobility’s Desiro High Capacity regional trains with a total of 136 ultra-reliable toilet systems, including a new type of bidet function. Supplied by the company’s Evac brand, the world’s leading supplier of sanitary systems for trains, the new systems will help enhance passenger comfort while simultaneously improving train availability.
Siemens Gamesa Delivers Wind Turbines with Recyclable Blades Strategic Research Institute Published on : 9 Aug, 2022, 5:30 am Siemens Gamesa has celebrated the delivery of green energy from the world’s first turbine equipped with Siemens Gamesa’s RecyclableBlades. The first commercial installation of recyclable wind turbine technology recently took place at RWE’s Kaskasi offshore wind power project in Germany. It marks a turning point in the long-term sustainability of offshore wind power. Wind turbine blades are made up of a combination of materials embedded in resin to form a strong, stiff structure. Utilizing Siemens Gamesa’s market-leading RecyclableBlade technology enables full reclaim of the blade’s components at the end of the product’s lifespan. Separating the resin, fiberglass, and wood, among others, is achieved through using a mild acid solution. The materials can then go into the circular economy, creating new products like suitcases or flat-screen casings without the need to call on more raw resources. A number of turbines of RWE’s Kaskasi offshore wind farm will be equipped with handcrafted Siemens Gamesa B81 RecyclableBlades, each with a length of 81 meters. The project is located 35 km north of the island of Heligoland in the German North Sea. It will be comprised of 38 SG 8.0-167 DD wind turbines, generating 342 MW of clean, renewable energy for up to 400,000 German households. This is comparable to a city like Frankfurt am Main. The RecyclableBlade technology is also available for the 108-meter long B108 blades used on the SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbine and the massive 115-meter long B115 blades SG 14-236 DD turbines.

Iberdrola Starts Construction of East Anglia Three Offshore Wind Strategic Research Institute Published on : 16 Aug, 2022, 5:30 am Spanish renewable energy giant Iberdrola has begun construction in the UK of the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm, which will have a capacity of 1,400 megawatts, enough to supply 1.3 million homes with clean energy, more than the populations of Liverpool and Glasgow combined.This new facility, located off the coast of Norfolk, near the London metropolitan area, will form part of the East Anglia Hub macro-complex, together with the future East Anglia One North and East Anglia Two developments. The initial phase will focus on the installation in the county of Suffolk, in collaboration with Siemens , of the onshore substation that will connect the park to the National Grid electricity grid and the cable route, awarded to NKT.East Anglia Three will cover an area of up to 305 square kilometres and will require the installation of more than a hundred new generation wind turbines, which will be up to 247 metres high. The new farm is in addition to the one already operated by the company through its subsidiary ScottishPower in the same area, called East Anglia One, with 714 MW, capable of producing renewable energy for 630,000 British homes.Construction work on this plant, which is expected to start production in 2026, has begun on the ground.
Siemens Gamesa to Supply 14 Wind Turbines to ACEN Philippines Strategic Research Institute Published on : 19 Aug, 2022, 5:30 am Siemens Gamesa has secured a new deal with leading renewables developer in Southeast Asia ACEN Corporation to supply 14 units of the SG 5.0-145 turbines in the Philippines following the country’s first round of renewable energy auctions. The awarded 70 MW Capa wind farm, located in Caparispisan, Ilocos Norte province, is expected to be completed and start operations by the first quarter of 2024. Siemens Gamesa also secured a contract to provide five years of operation and maintenance services for the wind project. The first 81 MW wind farm in Caparispisan by North Luzon Renewables was installed in 2014 and has operated as ACEN’s largest wind project in the Philippines. This project was also supplied by Siemens Gamesa. To date, Siemens Gamesa has installed 60% of the total wind power capacity in the country. The order follows the signing last year of the country’s largest wind project with the same customer for the 160 MW Pagudpud wind farm in Balaoi & Caunayan. This project came as the country’s wind industry emerged again in 2021 having been suspended for several years.
Siemens & MAHLE to Develop Wireless EV Charging Strategic Research Institute Published on : 19 Aug, 2022, 5:30 am Siemens and MAHLE intend to collaborate in the field of inductive charging of electric vehicles. Both companies have signed a letter of intent to this effect. One aspect of the planned cooperation includes coordinated standardization efforts in the relevant pre-standardization and standardization bodies. The goal is to close gaps to ensure full interoperability between vehicles and the charging infrastructure. In addition, there are plans for a close exchange of ideas to develop a complete inductive charging system for electric vehicles. MAHLE aims to contribute its many years of experience as an automotive supplier and Siemens its expertise in the field of charging infrastructure. Both parties are also planning extensive interoperability and cross-testing between the charging equipment on the vehicle (secondary coil) and the charging infrastructure (primary coil). This will allow for technical improvements and validation of inductive charging systems for electric vehicles and ensure interoperability. Some of the testing will be performed as part of publicly funded projects.
