    En in de grote steden in de US, met hoge bevolkingsdichtheid, zullen de cijfers ook wel vele malen hoger uitvallen dan het landelijk US gemiddelde.

    Of hij nu echt pro Donald is weet ik niet! Het kan ook een manier zijn van puur kranten verkopen en internet lezen. Negatieve reclame is ook reclame. Maar ik vind het wel goed de pro Donald mensen. Het houd de democratie scherp. En zij geven juist de mogelijkheid om de onkunde van deze president met zijn corrupte medewerkers aan de kaak te stellen.

    Leon de Winter is/was een echte Trump-fan, maar hij krijgt wel steeds meer twijfels.

    iedere 'journalist' die willens en wetens een verhaal schrijft vol met leugens is niet goed voor de democratie.

    President Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort has been released from prison to serve the remainder of his sentence in home confinement because of concerns over the novel coronavirus, two sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

    Manafort was released from FCI Loretto in central Pennsylvania early Wednesday morning, the two sources said.

    An attorney for Manafort confirmed he had been released to home confinement but declined to comment further. The Bureau of Prisons also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

    "We must think big for the people now, because if we don't, it will cost more in lives and livelihood later," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Tuesday. "Not acting is the most expensive course. We are presenting a plan to do what is necessary to deal with the [coronavirus] crisis and make sure we can get the country back to work and school safely."

    Dat wordt nog een moeilijke keuze in November. Wie kiezen ze, de partij die niets doet, 100,000+ doden op een hoop gooit of de partij die probeert te redden wat er te redden valt?

    Goed lezen wat ik schrijft ivm Donald Trump zelf en zijn aanhang. Als mensen oneerlijk zijn en leugens brengen wat niet tegen te houden is. Dan kan de democratie hier eerlijk op in spelen en werkelijke feiten naar buiten brengen.

    ik lees goed wat je schrijft, maar ik denk niet dat het belang van democratie is dat 'journalisten' zelf leugens gaan verspreiden. Tenzij ze erbij zetten; 'ik sta je glashard van alles voor te liegen'

    Terwijl Dr. Anthony Fauci al lang bekend is in kringen van Washington DC, is hij onlangs bekend geworden bij het grote publiek. De gerenommeerde immunoloog werd een kalmerend en informatief onderdeel van de vaak gekke persconferenties van Donald Trump.

    En Amerika werd verliefd op de Doctor. Uit peilingen bleek dat ze Fauci aanzienlijk meer vertrouwden dan de president. Fox News wil echter dat er een einde komt aan die liefdesrelatie. Meerdere Fox-ankers, waaronder Sean Hannity en Tucker Carlson vielen Fauci aan tijdens hun uitzendingen op dinsdagavond.

    Carlson beweerde dat de Doctor op een stroomstootje staat. Hij vertelde zijn kijkers: "Dit is helemaal niet het resultaat van een democratisch proces op het werk. Toch is Dr. Fauci in de afgelopen vier maanden een van de machtigste mensen ter wereld geworden. Sommigen, met name in onze media en in ons democratisch establishment, roepen om Dr. Fauci nog meer macht te geven. Waarom? Sommige mensen denken dat hij dictator moet zijn voor de duur van deze crisis."

    Sean Hannity had ook veel kritiek op de immunoloog. De gastheer raasde: "Links voert nu een non-stop campagne van angst, hysterie, ondanks de dalende Covid-19 besmettelijke tarieven, ziekenhuisopnames, sterfgevallen, nou ja, Democraten, de menigte en de media, ze lijken dit land voor onbepaalde tijd opgesloten te willen houden. Dr. Anthony Fauci lijkt ook de Democraten te willen steunen. En dat is een enorme beperking, zonder dat het einde in zicht is."

    Fauci reageerde eigenlijk op dinsdag op deze claims toen ze werden geheven door Kentucky Senator Rand Paul. "Ik ben een wetenschapper, een arts en een volksgezondheidsambtenaar. Ik geef advies, volgens het beste wetenschappelijke bewijs, zei de Dokter. "Ik geef geen advies over economische zaken."

    Barack Obama’s efforts to replenish America’s stockpile of protective equipment for healthcare workers were repeatedly blocked by Republican lawmakers, an investigation has found.

    The investigation by ProPublica found requests for funding to purchase protective equipment and train medical staff to prepare for future outbreaks were denied by a Republican-controlled House of Representatives that was filled with Tea Party-affiliated politicians.

    Citing budget documents, as was as administration and congressional officials involved in negotiations, the report discovered that “had Congress kept funding at the 2010 level through the end of the Obama administration, the stockpile would have benefited from $321m (£259m) more than it ended up getting.”

    Healthcare workers treating coronavirus patients across the country have complained about a lack of proper protective equipment. Many are having to reuse masks, which puts them at greater risk of contracting the virus.

    Prices are tumbling at an alarming rate

    Prices are tumbling in America as the coronavirus lockdown drags on and people spend less.

    U.S. consumer prices declined for the second-straight month in April, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Tuesday. Prices fell by 0.8% on a seasonally adjusted basis in April, marking the largest drop since December 2008.

    That's an alarming drop, dragged down primarily by falling gasoline and energy prices. But excluding volatile food and energy, prices still fell by 0.4%. That's the largest monthly decline in the so-called core consumer price index since the BLS began tracking the data in 1957.

    Falling prices might sound like a good thing, but economists agree that deflation -- the opposite of inflation -- would be very bad news.

    When prices fall because people aren't buying things, manufacturers sometimes can't charge enough to make the product they're trying to sell. That means they'll stop making those products and lay off workers. That can start a vicious circle in which demand continues to fall as more people lose their jobs.

    Deflation isn't here yet -- prices have risen 0.3% over the past 12 months. But if stay-at-home orders continue to plunge the economy into a massive downturn, lower prices could exacerbate the damage.

    Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell on Wednesday sent top Republican senators a list of former senior Obama administration officials who might have been involved in efforts to “unmask” former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

    Grenell sent the list, reviewed by POLITICO, a day after Sens. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) wrote to Grenell and Attorney General William Barr calling on them to release information about efforts by Obama administration officials to “unmask” U.S. citizens who were subject to government surveillance. The senators referenced Grenell’s decision to declassify a list of Obama administration officials who were involved in the “unmasking” of Flynn.
