    Scatec Solar reaches financial close for its first project in Ukraine

    Scatec Solar ASA and partners have reached financial close for the 47 MW Rengy project in the Mykolaiv region in the south of Ukraine with a total investment of EUR 52 million. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) have signed credit agreements of 50% each of the non-recourse debt financing of the project. The credit facilities amount to EUR 36 million and covers 70% of the total project costs.

    Scatec Solar owns 51% of the project and Rengy Development Group holds the balance. Scatec Solar will be the Engineering, Procurement and Construction provider and provide Operation & Maintenance as well as Asset Management services to the power plant. Construction is starting imminently with commercial operation during 2019.

    The project will be realized under the country's 10-year Feed-in-Tariff scheme and are expected to produce about 58 GWh per year. Public land will be leased for an extended time-period and the plants are expected to deliver power also beyond the Feed-in-tariff period.

    Rengy Development is one of the largest developers and independent solar power producers in Ukraine. It was established in 2009 and has to date developed, built and commissioned a 70 MW portfolio of solar power plants in Ukraine.

    Dat blijkt uit het Nationaal Referendum Onderzoek dat vrijdag 18-11-2016 wordt gepubliceerd. Kristof Jacobs, docent aan de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, geeft aan dat een stem tegen het associatieverdrag van de Europese Unie (EU) met Oekraïne geen stem tegen de EU zelf was.
    ‘Het lijkt er sterk op dat de kiezer oprecht heeft geprobeerd om de vraag op het stemformulier te beantwoorden,’ aldus Jacobs in Trouw. Het gaat daarbij om de vraag: ‘Bent u voor of tegen de wet tot goedkeuring van de Associatieovereenkomst tussen de Europese Unie en Oekraïne?’

    Vooral de corruptie in Oekraïne was reden voor de ‘nee’-stemmers om niet akkoord te gaan met het verdrag.

    Ukraine reduced coal project by 4pct in Jan-Oct 2018

    Open for Business reported that coal mining enterprises of Ukraine in January-October 2018 reduced extraction of coal by 4.1% (by 1.189 million tonnes) compared to the same period in 2017, to 27.688 million tonnes. The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry told Interfax-Ukraine production of coking coal decreased by 11.7% (by 652,500 tonnes), to 4.908 million tonnes, steam coal by 2.3% % (536,800 tonnes), to 22.779 million tonnes.

    In October 2018, production of run-of-mine coal grew by 5% compared to the same month in 2017, to 2.839 million tonnes. Coal mining companies managed by the ministry for the ten months ending October 2018 reduced production by 13.3%, to 3.454 million tonnes, in particular production of coking coal was down by 42.8%, to 436,000 tonnes, steam coal decreased by 6.3%, to 3.018 million tonnes.

    The mines of Donetsk region for the ten months of this year provided production of 9.253 million tonnes of coal (2.6% less compared to January-October 2017), Luhansk region some 427,300 tonnes (down by 73.3%), Dnipropetrovsk region some 16.594 million tonnes (1.1% more), Lviv region some 1.324 million tonnes (3.8% up), and Volyn region some 89,400 tonnes (1.9% up)

    Scatec Solar and partners have closed financing for the 30 MW Kamianka project in the Cherkassy region in central Ukraine with a total investment of EUR 35 million. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and FMO, the Dutch development bank have signed credit agreements for the non-recourse debt financing of the project. The credit facilities amount to EUR 24.5 million and covers 70% of the total project costs.

    Scatec Solar will be the lead equity investor in the project and is in the process of securing additional equity partners for the project. The company will also be the Engineering, Procurement and Construction provider and provide Operation & Maintenance as well as Asset Management services to the power plant. Construction is starting early 2019 with commercial operation in fourth quarter 2019.

    The project will be realised under the country's 10 year Feed-in-Tariff scheme and are expected to produce about 39 GWh per year. Public land will be leased for an extended time-period and the solar power plant is expected to deliver power also beyond the Feed-in-tariff period.

    Rusland kan 160.00 combat ready troops binnen 96 uur aan de grens met Ukraine mobiliseren.
    Dit is inclusief 80.000 binnen 12-24 uur in striking distance.

    In additie kan dit gevolgd worden door 150.000-200.000 Russian National Guards (inclusief Chechen "death squads") die klaar kunnen staan om de troepen te volgen voor mop-up operations.

    Chemische wapens in omgeving Donbas :

    Een paar weken geleden verschenen er Russische berichten dat ca 15 dec Ukraine chemische wapens zou gebruiken.
    Nu meldt Ukraine , dat Rusland een chemische aanval voorbereidt.
    Misschien gebeurt er niets , maar er worden wel beschuldigingen geuit, over en weer.

    Kort video overzicht, hoe schepen het afgelopen jaar bemoeilijkt wordt de haven van Marioepol (Ukraine), aan de zee van Azov, te bereiken. Alleen te bereiken via de zee-engte bij Kertsj. Over deze zee-engte is een brug, kort geleden aangelegd, die Rusland verbindt met de Krim.

    Vestas wins 99 MW EPC order in Ukraine

    Vestas has received a 99 MW Engineering, Procurement and Construction order from DTEK Renewables for the Orlovka wind project in the Zaporizhia region, Ukraine. The order includes 4 MW platform turbines delivered in 3.8 MW Power Optimised Mode as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contract. Deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2019, while commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of 2019.

    Mr Nils de Baar, President of Vestas Northern & Central Europe said that
    “With this order, Vestas reinforces its leading role in Ukraine’s renewable energy market and continues to support the country’s renewable ambitions. We are pleased to be awarded yet another order from DTEK, Ukraine’s largest energy company.”

    Ukraine steel output in 2018 dips 2pct YoY

    Unian reported that according to Ukraine’s Steelmakers Association Ukrmetalurgprom, in 2018, steel production in Ukraine decreased by 2% compared with 2017, to 21.06 million tonnes. Production of general metal-roll for the said period increased by 1%, to 18.45 million tonnes, smelting cast iron increased by 2% to 20.53 million tonnes.

    In 2017, steel production in Ukraine was down by 12%, to 21.3 million tonnes. Production of metal-roll dropped by 14%, to 18.4 million tonnes, while cast iron smelting slid by 15%, to 20 million tonnes.

    Nord Stream 2 kills Ukraine - Mr Czaputowicz

    Unian reported that Polish Foreign Minister Mr Jacek Czaputowicz has called on the EU to halt the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project. He told Germany's Handelsblatt, the pipeline is destroying the effect of sanctions imposed on Russia. He said that "Nord Stream 2 kills Ukraine. If the Russian gas transit through Ukraine is over, the country will lose not only substantial revenues, but above all the guarantee of protection against further acts of Russian aggression."

    According to the top diplomat, the European Commission also seeks to prevent Russian energy giant Gazprom to become a sole gas supplier to the EU.

    Mr Czaputowicz expressed regret that the EU member states could not agree on a common position on the construction of the gas pipeline. He added that "Poland, the US and the European Commission represent a pro-European position here, while Germany - an anti-European position."
