Procter & Gamble (beurswaarde 182,95 miljard dollar).
Morgan Stanley: "The bully is back!"
Bottom Line: Doomsday for HPC? P&G big cost savings plan ($10bn) and no change to EPS guidance, suggests one thing: the Bully is Back. We have been flagging this event for the last 3-4 weeks in terms of both P&Gs intention to cut prices in hair care, fabric care and auto dish, and the potential for a big cost savings plan. $10bn vs cons $1-2bn is huge.
This is pretty much the worst case scenario. Expect EU HPC down 2-3% today and to de-rate over the next 12 months. The conclusion remains as below: severe news for the entire HPC sector esp hair care, fabric care, auto dish categories and emerging market regions. In order the most impacted will be in my view
Bully is Back: Think about the playground bully, all brawn, few brains and no finesse. Now think about HPC. P&G embarked on their "investment" strategy in May 2009 and caused long term damage to industry profit pools across regions and categories. P&G have materially disappointed 6/7 quarters, and downgraded guidance two years in a row. Their reaction? Save $10bn.
Be more aggressive.
Was getekend, Morgan Stanley.
