IPMS leverages Xeikon technology for shelf-strip production 02 Feb 2011 Itasca, IL, Feb. 01, 2011 - Xeikon, an innovator in digital color printing technology, today announced that Information Planning & Manufacturing Systems, Inc. (IPMS), a retail consulting firm specializing in developing and implementing business solutions to improve efficiency, reduce costs and increase sales and profits, is leveraging Xeikon technology to produce its patented shelf-strip solution. IPMS is the name that retailers across the U.S. count on for value-driven, integrated shelf strip solutions that help them execute successful merchandising strategies and consistently deliver higher return on investment. Incorporated in 1995 and based in Sterling, VA, IPMS provides consulting, planning, process development, software, and management services that help retailers decrease labor costs for stocking shelves, increase pricing accuracy, facilitate planogram implementation, and grow revenues. IPMS has a large production network throughout North America that includes seven Xeikon digital color presses in operation. The company first invested in Xeikon technology several years ago; In November of 2010, the company integrated two Xeikon 5000’s into its operations. “We needed a high speed press that would print digital variable data for sheet lengths up to four feet long and greater, so that it could be cut down into finished shelf strips that are store specific,” said IPMS CEO EJ Dale. “Due to its incredible format flexibility, Xeikon offers the only technology capable of printing our shelf strips.” The Xeikon technology is unique in its handling of scalable paper widths from 12.6 inches up to 20 inches with virtually no restriction on the length of the printed pieces. Xeikon technology also allows its users to print on both sides of the substrate simultaneously for perfect front-to-back registration and data integrity. In addition, it can handle a wide range of substrate weights ranging from 40 gsm (27 lb text) all the way up to 350 gsm (16-pt board stock), enabling the production of a wide assortment of value-generating applications. According to Michael V. Ring, president of Xeikon America, Inc., “As a leader in the retail industry, IPMS customers rely on them for impeccable, yet speedy, turnaround for shelf strips. IPMS recognizes that in order to stay competitive and achieve long term success, you have to adapt to your customers’ changing needs. We are pleased that they have found a true partner in Xeikon to achieve these objectives” For more information about the Xeikon 5000 digital color press, please visit: www.xeikon.com/brochure/xeikon-5000plus
Helf Etiketten meets label market demands with the Xeikon 3300 Submitted by Admin on March 1, 2011 – 09:37No Comment. Tags: Xeikon / Xeikon 3300 Helf Etiketten GmbH, one of Austria’s largest and most well-known label printers situated in the country’s largest industrial zone, has responded to the changing needs of the label printing market by installing the Xeikon 3300 digital label press. The investment allowed this prominent label printer to respond to the market’s requirements for food-safe, fast-turnaround and small to medium sized print runs – which can only be achieved profitably through digital printing. Previously, Helf Etiketten’s digital print range was limited to a liquid toner solution. But with its new Xeikon 3300, the company is widening its offering and delivering print work more efficiently, particularly on medium-sized print runs on a wide variety of types and designs. The company is also benefitting from the food-safe certified toner used in the Xeikon presses. It allows digitally printed labels for food applications to be produced within exceptionally tight deadlines. The labels can also be customized according to client’s specific requirements and for special campaigns. Helf Etiketten GmbH Managing Directors Christian Coreth (left) and Walter Schuppler-Helf (right) in front of the Xeikon 3300. “Customers are increasingly demanding sustainable and food-safe product packaging at competitive prices,” explain Managing Directors Christian Coreth and Walter Schuppler-Helf. “We opted for the Xeikon 3300 because we wanted to significantly increase productivity by improving production speed and throughput. The system also delivers superior uptime, as well as fine detailing thanks to the high print resolution.” Best seller in label printing The award-winning Xeikon 3300 is Xeikon’s best selling high-volume digital label press. The system is designed for use with the most common web width of 330mm, but is also capable of handling a web width as narrow as 200mm. It runs at speeds up to 19.2 m/min. The Xeikon 3300 uses the QA-I toner, which meets all the applicable FDA guidelines for indirect food contact under room temperature and less severe conditions as well as direct food contact for dry food substances containing no surface oil or fat under the same conditions. The Xeikon 3300 was awarded the prestigious New Innovation Award at the Label Industry Global Awards during Labelexpo Americas 2008, and in 2009 became the first digital label press to receive an InterTech™ Technology Award. About Helf Etiketten GmbH Helf Etiketten GmbH, founded in 1955 and located in Austria in the south of Vienna, is a total solutions provider for all printing services and currently employs around 70 staff members. Each year the firm’s analogue and digital printing systems produce more than five billion labels for domestic customers in the food, beverage, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, chemistry and plastics, textiles, furniture, household, service and tourism sectors. In 2009, the Coreth family acquired the majority shareholding in Helf and since then have successfully restructured the organisation. Also under the family’s ownership is the company Coreth Kunststoffverarbeitungs GmbH, one of Austria’s leading plastic film manufacturers.
