    Tesla CEO Elon Musk oversaw a 2016 video that overstated the capabilities of the automaker's driver assistance system, Autopilot, according to internal emails viewed by Bloomberg. The emails show that Musk even dictated the opening tagline of the video that claimed the car drove itself. Earlier this week, a deposition from a senior engineer revealed that the car hadn't been driving itself and had instead been following a pre-determined route along a high-definition map, a feature that is not available to consumers.

    Aan de ene kant is Google krachtig, maar het is ook kwetsbaar. Ze wordt voor 80% betaald uit advertentie inkomsten in search Daarmee worden andere initiatieven gefinancierd.

    Deze kern wordt nu aangevallen. De grootste concurrentie voor Google is nu:

    - ChatGPT. Elke querie die gedaan wordt en leidt tot een bevredigend antwoord is voor Google een gemiste kans op CPC die inmiddels ligt op een bizarre 1-2 euro per klik. Ik kan niet goed beoordelen of ChatGPT echt een existentiële dreiging is voor Google. Zo noemen ze het zelf wel.

    - Apple is bezig met een eigen zoekmachine voor in iPhones en iPads en Macs. Dit heeft de potentie om in 1 klap 33% van de hele Google omzet weg te slaan. Om deze reden ontwikkelt Google nu eigen telefoons.

    - Amerikaans ministerie van justitie Vanuit diverse staten en de federale overheid en de eis die gesteld wordt is dat Google bepaalde bedrijfsonderdelen rond advertising afstoot. Dat zou behoorlijk pijn kunnen doen. www.cbsnews.com/news/department-of-ju...

    - TikTok zet YouTube advertentie inkomsten onder druk

    - Instagram Map search functie zorgt voor minder Maps zoekopdrachten onder jongeren. Blijkt uit onderzoek van Google zelf, dat 40% gewoon via Insta en TikTok locaties zoekt. De Facebook/Insta POI (onder leiding van Marc Prioleau) komen ook in Overture. Dit is de manier waarop TomTom POI integreert.     - In algemene zin Wat denk ik niet duurzaam is, is dat tegenwoordig de Cost per Click gemiddeld 1-2 euro is. Dat was 10 jaar geleden nog dubbeltjeswerk. Het is echt bizar dat alleen een klik op een advertentielink al 2 euro kan kosten. Dit komt ook door het monopolie op search. Indien dat monopolie gebroken wordt, heb je als adverteerder meer keuze en lagere CPC’s. Dit zou gewoon een commodity moeten zijn die enkele centen oplevert per klik en niet meer dan een hele euro.

    Waze werkt vanaf nu met nieuwe Android Auto Coolwalk-interface

    De navigatie-app Waze is nu geschikt voor de nieuwe Coolwalk-interface van Android Auto. De app kan dus in een gesplitst scherm worden weergegeven, naast andere vensters. Helaas kan nog niet iedereen van deze update genieten. Coolwalk is namelijk nog niet voor iedereen beschikbaar.

    Android Auto en Waze
    Waze is klaar voor de nieuwe Coolwalk-interface van Android Auto, dat hebben gebruikers op Reddit ontdekt. Toen Coolwalk voor de eerste bètagebruikers van Android Auto beschikbaar werd, werkte de functie alleen in combinatie met Google Maps, maar dus niet met Googles andere navigatie-app Waze. Het werd door Waze al wel aangekondigd dat er ondersteuning voor Coolwalk onderweg is.

    Waze kan nu net zoals Google Maps geopend worden in een gesplitst scherm. Bij auto's die een groot scherm hebben op hun infotainmentsysteem heeft dat veel voordelen. De routebegeleiding is namelijk dankzij de nieuwe interface dichter afleesbaar voor de bestuurder. Naast het hoofdscherm waarin Waze word geopend, zijn er aparte vensters zichtbaar: een mediaspeler voor je muziek en podcasts en een plaats waar al je meldingen binnenkomen.

    Qualcomm gecontracteerd voor SmartCockpit

    Als ik onderstaande lees en kijk naar de datum van het artikel: 14-4-2022
    dan had ik toch wel iets willen lezen op de TTsite over deze samenwerking en wat het voor TT betekent of kan betekenen.

    The Stellantis collaboration will instead focus on in-vehicle technology such as in-car communication and infotainment, at least for now.

    Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said Qualcomm personnel will work alongside Stellantis internal teams to develop a software-defined approach, allowing vehicle customers to download personalized applications and experiences.

    Working with Qualcomm will allow Stellantis to more closely manage its electronics supply chain, he added. Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms will power in-car communication and infotainment for the STLA SmartCockpit, being engineered with Amazon and Foxconn. Cockpit Platforms deliver high-def graphics to touch and voice-controlled consoles and enable premium audio and clear voice communication.

    Cockpit Platforms will also enhance STLA Brain a new digital form of intelligence for convenience and safety to enhance the in-vehicle AI features including over the air updates for system diagnostics.

    Is iets anders. Onemap van Here is om samen met japanse partners te komen tot hd maps met wereld dekking.

    Dit initiatief van Cariad is om diverse map lagen - SD Map, ADAS map en ook features - POI, live traffic. Samen te voegen tot één geheel.

    Daarvoor heb je wel eenzelfde referentie basemap nodig waartegen je data kunt vergelijken. Dit is iets wat Overture biedt: interoperable map data. Data uit verschillende bronnen kunnen spiegelen aan één base map en een bepaalde stamp (stempel/code) meegeven.

    Het doet ook weer erg denken aan die meneer van CARIAD in de tomtom video die geen onderscheid maakt tussen maps en traffic, alles is realtime data. Of het nu een weg is waar de richting verandert of is afgesloten of een file. TT’s ambitie is de eerste realtime map volgens dat principe.

    Lightyear deels failliet: ruim 600 werknemers verliezen hun baan

    De Nederlandse bouwer van zonnewagens Lightyear is failliet. 620 medewerkers verliezen hun baan. De rechtbank in Den Bosch heeft een curator aangesteld die kijkt of een doorstart mogelijk is.

    Deze week vroeg Lightyear onverwacht uitstel van betaling aan voor dochteronderneming Atlas Technologies, waar de revolutionaire maar peperdure zonneauto Lightyear 0 onder valt en ook het merendeel van de personeelsleden.

    De Lightyear 0 gold tot maandag als schoolvoorbeeld van Nederlands techvernuft en ondernemersgeest, ontwikkeld door studenten van de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, die eerder succesvol raceten met zonnewagens en het nu voor elkaar hadden gebokst hun zonne-auto (250 duizend euro, exclusief btw) in productie te nemen. Er zouden er 945 gemaakt worden, 145 klanten hadden een bestelling geplaatst.

    Tentoonstelling in Allard Pierson over cartografie van 15e eeuw tot TomTom

    Museum Allard Pierson in Amsterdam presenteert van 2 maart tot en met 16 juli 2023 de tentoonstelling ‘Open kaart – van atlas tot streetmap’. De tentoonstelling gaat over zeven eeuwen cartografie in Nederland, met een grote diversiteit aan kaarten vanaf de 15de eeuw en de achterliggende verhalen, tot en met de nieuwste ontwikkelingen. De hedendaagse kunstenaars Remy Jungerman, Gert Jan Kocken en Qiu Zhijie geven hun reflecties op cartografie.

    Van Amsterdam naar wereldwijd
    De tentoonstelling ‘Open kaart – van atlas tot streetmap’ die dit voorjaar te zien is in het Allard Pierson biedt een enorme diversiteit aan kaarten. De meeste daarvan zijn in Amsterdam gemaakt, waar vooral in de 17e eeuw de cartografie een grote vlucht nam. Daar lagen zowel het verlangen naar kennis, als de zucht naar macht en economisch gewin aan ten grondslag. De artistieke kwaliteit van de kaarten steeg in die periode ook naar een hoog niveau.

    Verder is een zaal gewijd aan de nieuwste cartografische technieken. Het Allard Pierson werkte hiervoor samen met technologiebedrijf TomTom, dat zich richt op real time mapping en partner is van het Atlas Lab van de Universiteit van Amsterdam.
