    Atlis Motor to Rely on ArcelorMittal’s Steel for Electric Truck

    Mesa Arizona based electric truck developer Atlis Motor Vehicles has signed an agreement with ArcelorMittal, to help speed its product development. Under the agreement, Atlis will use ArcelorMittal’s steel materials knowledge and S-in motion solutions to accelerate its vehicle design. Atlis will use ArcelorMittal’s S-in motion pickup truck model, as well as cab and box designs to help guide the design of its XT, a purpose-built, fully electric pickup truck designed to support individuals and fleet owners who work in agriculture, service, utility, and construction industries.

    S-in motion is a set of lightweight steel solutions developed by ArcelorMittal for automakers who wish to create lighter, safer, and more environmentally friendly vehicles. Atlis will use ArcelorMittal’s body in white CAD engineering information to reduce weight and cost, while increasing the range of its XT.

    The Atlis XP skateboard platform is the base for the 500-mile range electric Atlis XT pickup. A standard XP platform consists of two identical modular drive systems located in the front and rear of the vehicle, four traction motors, independent suspension, drive-by-wire technology and an Atlis battery pack. The modular system is designed to be plug-and-play, from a pickup to a box truck to a flatbed and will enable the vehicle to be serviceable even on the side of the road.

    The XT pickup will target best-in-class towing of 17,000 lbs. with a hitch and a max tow rating of 35,000 GCWR pounds with fifth wheel and gooseneck. XT configurations include service body upfits, 2 door or 4 door, 6.5-foot and 8-foot beds with dual rear wheel option, towing capabilities of 10,000 lbs., 14,000 lbs., and 17,000 lbs. XT drivers will be able to choose from a 300, 400, or 500-mile battery pack that ranges from 125kWh up to 250kWh capacity and will fully charge in just 15 minutes using a 1.5 MW charging station.

    ArcelorMittal Dunkirk to Idle One More BF in France

    ArcelorMittal is taking down 1.8 million tonne per annum Blast Furnace 3 at its Dunkirk site in France for relining from the end of September due to weak steel demand. In addition, 2 galvanising lines will also be idled at Dunkirk because of weak automotive demand as well as a sintering line. The production cuts aim to balance reduced demand and supply as surging energy and emission costs have also hampered competitiveness of the producer in the bearish market.

    1.4 million tonne Blast Furnace 2, which was idled in July, was expected to be restarted in September when BF3 would be taken down for further maintenance but reports suggest that BF2 will not restart production and the mill will operate only BF4 for the foreseeable future.

    Reports also suggest that there will also be a reduction in the use of temporary workers, with permanent staff encouraged to take early leave and partial working arrangements.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Op Wall Street zijn woensdag vier van de acht AEX-genoteerde fondsen ten opzichte van het slot in Amsterdam hoger gesloten. Aegon was met een winst van 0,6 procent de sterkste stijger. ArcelorMittal, Philips en Shell waren de enige dalers en daalden elk met 0,1 procent.

    23 European Steel Plants Cut Production over Energy Prices

    Soaring energy costs have triggered temporary production cuts at several steel mills across Europe, as producing at the current cost of energy has become unprofitable. And the list is growing every week

    25 July - Liberty Ostrava announced that it will temporarily idle its blast furnace No 2 for the repair and upgrade works

    2 August - ArcelorMittal Eisenhüttenstadt has applied for short-time work for August and September 2022 and has reduced activities in certain area from 1 August in Germany

    2 August - Italian steelmaker Acciaierie d’Italia is idling a second blast furnace at its Taranto plant in Italy

    26 August - Aperam has not yet resumed production after the summer holidays at Genk in plants in Belgium

    26 August - Aperam has partially closed production at Châtelet plant in Charleroi in Belgium

    29 August - Ferriere Nord Pittini has suspended work at the Osoppo plant in the Italy

    30 August - Acerinox announced 15-day closure at its Los Barrios stainless steel plant at Cadiz in Spain

    31 August - Acerinox announced 15-day closure at its Algeciras stainless plant in Spain

    31 August - Cogne Acciai Speciali halted production at Aosta plant in Italy for 6 days

    1 September - ArcelorMittal announced temporary shutdown of its Blast Furnace A in Asturias in Spain, which will take place by the end of September.

    1 September - ArcelorMittal has delayed the startup of EAF steel plant in Sestao r in Spain after the summer break for maintenance work until further notice

    1 September - Swiss Steel Group’s Ascometal will implement production stoppages in November and December for three weeks at in Fos-sur-Mer and Hagondange in France.

    2 September - ArcelorMittal announced that it will shut down one blast furnace at the Bremen plat in Germany & the direct reduction plant will also be shut down from the fourth quarter

    ArcelorMittal to Modernize Temirtau Plant in Kazakhstan

    Kazakhstan President Mr Kassym Jomart Tokayev received ArcelorMittal’s Executive Chairman Mr Lakshmi Mittal and discussed ArcelorMittal Temirtau's activities in Kazakhstan, as well as plans for the coming period, including issues related to ensuring safety conditions at work, fair wages for local citizens, the fulfillment of social obligations and the modernization of the material and technical base. Along with this, the President focused on the issue of meeting the needs of the domestic market through the supply of ArcelorMittal Temirtau products and special attention was paid to the company's measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

    Mr Mittal assured that ArcelorMittal would invest USD 1 billion in Kazakhstan in the near future, most of which would be directed to modernizing production at ArcelorMittal Temirtau.

    25 miljard aan verkopen van aandelen door Pensioenfondsen

    DNB: pensioenfondsen verkopen voor recordbedrag aan beleggingen
    AMSTERDAM (ANP) - Pensioenfondsen hebben in de eerste helft van het jaar voor een recordbedrag aan beleggingen verkocht. De opbrengst daarvan werd gebruikt om te voldoen aan margeverplichtingen van derivatencontracten, waarmee renterisico's worden afgedekt. Die stegen namelijk als gevolg van de hogere rente. Vooral aandelen werden verkocht, blijkt uit cijfers van De Nederlandsche Bank.

    De 88 miljard euro aan verkochte beleggingen bedroegen ongeveer 4,6 procent van het totaal belegd vermogen van pensioenfondsen. Er werden voornamelijk deelnemingen in beleggingsfondsen en in geldmarktfondsen verkocht. Ook werd voor 25 miljard euro aan aandelen van beursgenoteerde bedrijven van de hand gedaan.

    Bij het verkopen van aandelen hielden pensioenfondsen de verdeling van hun beleggingen over sectoren over het algemeen intact, waarbij posities in alle sectoren werden afgebouwd. De verkopen waren procentueel het grootst binnen de delfstoffensector. Dit komt mede doordat pensioenfondsen hun investeringen in deze sector vanwege milieuoverwegingen willen verminderen.

    ArcelorMittal Poland to Idle BF 3 at Dabrowa

    The management of ArcelorMittal Poland has made a decision about reducing production. This decision was made after a careful and thorough analysis of the deteriorating conditions of the in recent weeks, the situation on the market. As a result of this decision, at the end of September, the company will stop blast furnace No 3 in the Dabrowa steelworks in Poland. Stopping one blast furnace from two working blast furnaces will mean a slowdown in production in the processing part due to the changing conditions. ArcelorMittal Poland CEO Mr Frederik Van De Veld said “The market situation in Europe weakened further over the summer. We are seeing a decline in demand, and the order portfolio is below the level of technological work of at least two blast furnaces.”

    This is 25th announcement of production cut since August in Europe.
