    Philips waarschuwt voor problemen in aanvoerketen
    Afschrijvingen aangekondigd.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Philips heeft woensdag opnieuw gewaarschuwd voor de problemen in de aanvoerketen, waardoor de resultaten in zowel het derde als vierde kwartaal onder druk staan.

    De uitdagingen rond de aanvoerketen waren volgens Philips beduidend groter dan verwacht in het derde kwartaal. Als gevolg rekent Philips voor het afgelopen kwartaal op een omzet van 4,3 miljard euro. Dat komt neer op een vergelijkbare omzetdaling van circa 5 procent. De Diagnosis & Treatment-divisie zal daarbij een lage enkelcijferige vergelijkbare omzetdaling laten zien, terwijl Connected Care een daling van circa 15 procent zal boeken. Voor Personal Health verwacht Philips een vergelijkbare omzetgroei van circa 5 procent.

    Als gevolg van de lagere omzet, zal de aangepaste EBITA uitkomen op circa 210 miljoen euro, of grofweg 5 procent van de omzet.

    In het licht van de sterke groei van de orderinstroom van 47 procent in het derde kwartaal van vorig jaar, zal de orderintake in het afgelopen kwartaal vermoedelijk met 6 procent zijn gedaald.

    Philips verwacht opnieuw een voorziening te moeten treffen van 1,3 miljard euro in het derde kwartaal gerelateerd aan de problemen met de beademingsapparatuur van het bedrijf. De voorziening heeft te maken met de veranderde financiële vooruitzichten voor de divisie Sleep & Respiratory Care.

    Op 24 oktober komt Philips met definitieve kwartaalcijfers. Het bedrijf zal dan ook meer inzicht geven in manieren om de huidige tegenwind het hoofd te bieden. Philips wil onder meer de productiviteit in onderzoek en ontwikkeling verbeteren door te focussen op minder, maar kwalitatievere projecten in de innovatiepijplijn. Deze verandering leidt echter wel tot een extra voorziening in het derde kwartaal van 165 miljoen euro.

    Outlook

    Philips verwacht nog steeds een betere tweede jaarhelft ten opzichte van de eerste. Desondanks waarschuwt Philips voor de gevolgen van de problemen in de aanvoerketen en de verslechterende macro-economische omstandigheden. Daarom verwacht Philips voor het vierde kwartaal een vergelijkbare omzetdaling van circa 5 procent, bij een hoge enkelcijferige tot dubbelcijferige EBITA-marge.

    The Dutch health-technology company expects to report adjusted earnings before interest, taxes and amortization--a metric that strips out exceptional and other one-off items--of around 210 million euros ($203.8 million) for the third quarter, around 5% of sales.

    This compares with adjusted Ebita of EUR512 million, or 12.3% of sales, a year earlier.

    Analysts had seen the metric at EUR336 million, according to a consensus estimate provided by the company.

    Royal Philips NV said Wednesday that its performance in the third quarter was hurt by stronger-than-anticipated supply-chain challenges, and that as a result it expects a fall of around 5% in like-for-like sales.

    The Dutch health-technology company said that it expects to record a 1.3 billion euro ($1.26 billion) impairment charge in the period. The company said that this is an impairment of goodwill of Philips Respironics, its sleep and respiratory care business, and that it is due to revisions to the business's financial forecast.

    Royal Philips said group sales for the quarter are expected to be around EUR4.3 billion. It said that as a result of lower sales it expects adjusted earnings before interest, taxes and amortization--a metric that strips out exceptional and other one-off items--to be around EUR210 million.

    The company said that although it expects a better second half, it sees supply-chain disruptions continuing and a worsening of the macro environment.

    "Philips now expects a mid-single-digit comparable sales decline for the fourth quarter of 2022," the company said.

    Algemeen gezien zijn winstwaarschuwingen in deze tijd relevant en dit geldt dus nu ook voor PHI. Echter het komt boven op het issue dat nu ook al speelt. Dubbelop.
