the senate passed the bill

the senate passed the bill How top-selling electric vehicles will be affected by new tax credit Mon, August 8, 2022, 6:14 PM In a big win for Democrats, Senate passage of the Inflation Adjustment Act brings the bill to the House, where the bill is expected to pass. If all goes as planned, the legislation could be in front of President Biden to sign in as little as a couple weeks. For the automotive industry, a big piece of the legislation is the expansion of the $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs (electric vehicles), in which the cap on automakers to qualify for the credit — which currently is at 200,000 vehicles — will be removed. While that sounds like good news for the automakers, several requirements have now been introduced that have the automakers claiming 70% of EVs and PHEVs (plug-in hybrid EV) will not qualify for the credit. “There are 72 EV models currently available for purchase in the United States including battery, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell electric vehicles, says John Bozella, CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, a trade group that counts General Motors, Toyota, and Ford as members in a statement. “Seventy percent of those EVs would immediately become ineligible when the bill passes and none would qualify for the full credit when additional sourcing requirements go into effect. Zero.” These are the main requirements that will change and make the EV tax credits more restrictive: Country of final assembly needs to be the U.S. MSRP needs to be below $55,000 for cars, and below $80,000 for trucks and SUVs Battery material sourcing must be sourced from U.S. or free-trade partners, with phase-in starting in 2024 The final component of battery sourcing, coming in less than two years time, means no EVs will qualify for the credit, according to Bozella. Note that these are just requirements on the automaker end; the bill adds income requirements on the consumer that will make many high-earning Americans and joint filers ineligible for the tax breaks. The Automotive Alliance for Innovation lists all the zero emissions EV and PHEVs for sale in America here, along with a map and list of EV and battery manufacturers in America. Along with that information and quarterly sales reports, Yahoo Finance has verified how the following cars, the top 5 selling EVs and PHEVs in America, will fare under the new rules.Tesla Model 3 and Model Y Both U.S.-made Model 3 sedans and Model Y SUVs, the top selling EVs in America, would qualify for the tax credit following passage, a boost for the brand because Tesla is currently phased out of the tax credit. (Note: Tesla does not break out sales between Model 3 and Model Y, but registration data is used as a proxy.) However, only the lowest trim Model 3 Rear Wheel Drive qualifies (MSRP $46,990). As for the Model Y, both trims qualify (Long Range - $65,990; Performance - $69,990) assuming the government classifies the Model Y as an SUV.Ford Mustang Mach-E Coming in second in sales last quarter for EVs and PHEVs was the Ford Mustang Mach-E, with 10,941 units sold. With a starting MSRP of $43,895, the base Mach-E could qualify as a car or SUV, however the Mach-E is assembled in Mexico so it would not qualify for the tax credit. This is a considerable drawback for Ford as the current tax credit no doubt drove sales of it over its most direct competitor, the Tesla Model Y.Jeep Wrangler 4xE The first plug-in hybrid on the list, the Wrangler 4xE, sold 10,861 units last quarter. With it most likely to be categorized as an SUV, and with a starting MSRP of $54,595, it would qualify for the tax break because the Wrangler is made at Jeep’s plant in Toledo, Ohio.Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6 The first non-US brand on the list, the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 5, which sold 7,448 units in the second quarter, and its sister brand Kia’s EV6 EV sold 7,287 cars. Though the Korean automaker does build cars in the U.S. at a plant in Alabama, the IONIQ 5 and Kia EV 6 are built in South Korea so they would not qualify for the tax credit. This is a blow for Hyundai as the IONIQ 5 and EV6 has been praised by reviewers, and start at a very competitive $39,950 and $33,900 respectively, though the relatively cheap MSRPs may still make both viable options for many Americans despite loss of the credit.Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV GM’s lone entry on the list, the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, sold 6,945 units last quarter. With a starting price of $25,600, it is the cheapest pure electric vehicle on the market, and with final assembly taking place at GM’s Orion plant in Michigan, the Bolt will continue to qualify for the federal tax credit.Audi e-tron, Lucid, Polestart P2 Note that popular, sought-after models like the Audi e-tron (country of assembly), Lucid Air (price), Polestar P2 (country of assembly), and Porsche Taycan (price & country of assembly) that currently qualify for the federal tax credit, will not if the bill is signed into law. All is not lost for manufacturers however, as it may be possible the incentives will no longer so important. “By the time vehicle manufacturers can take full credit of the act, the market will be ready to accept electric vehicles and the incentives will no longer be necessary,” says Sam Fiorani, Vice President of Global Vehicle Forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions in a statement to Yahoo Finance. “With or without the incentives, the price to the buyer will not change substantially. Incentives like these prop up the price and provide extra profits for the manufacturer.”
Hopelijk mogen we blijven stijgen (nu dik 5%).

Polestar Electric Roadster Concept Planned to Enter Production as Polestar 6 Tue, August 16, 2022, 1:00 PM GOTHENBURG, Sweden, August 16, 2022--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Polestar (Nasdaq: PSNY), the Swedish electric performance car company, confirms plans to put the Polestar electric roadster concept into production. The production car is expected to launch in 2026 as the Polestar 6 electric performance roadster. Interested customers in all active Polestar markets are able to reserve a build slot online starting August 16, 2022. This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: www.businesswire.com/news/home/202208... Polestar electric roadster concept (Photo: Business Wire) "With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality," says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. "Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of powerful electric performance and the thrill of fresh air with the top down." Revealed in Los Angeles in March as the Polestar O2, the electric roadster concept builds on the design, technology and sustainability ambitions laid out by the Polestar Precept and showcases the brand’s vision for future sports cars. The hard-top convertible will be built on Polestar’s bespoke bonded aluminum platform. Developed in-house, it will feature the high-performance, 800-Volt electric architecture already confirmed for Polestar 5. This includes output of up to 884 hp (650kW) and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) from a dual motor powertrain, a targeted 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). To celebrate the launch, 500 numbered units of a special ‘LA Concept’ version, the ‘Polestar 6 LA Concept edition’, are planned to be produced. They will exclusively feature the unique ‘Sky’ blue exterior, light leather interior and unique 21-inch wheels of the original Polestar O2 concept. The production confirmation headlines the brand’s attendance with the electric roadster concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ events during Monterey Car Week in California, August 18-21, 2022. Further technical details and specification confirmations will be released as the production car becomes reality, leading up to the expected launch in 2026. Founded by Volvo Car AB (publ.) (together with its subsidiaries, "Volvo Cars") and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd ("Geely"), in 2017, Polestar enjoys specific technological and engineering synergies with Volvo Cars and benefits from significant economies of scale as a result. Polestar is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, and its vehicles are currently available and on the road in markets across Europe, North America, China and Asia Pacific. By 2023, the company plans that its cars will be available in an aggregate of 30 markets. Polestar cars are currently manufactured in two facilities in China, with additional future manufacturing planned in the USA. In the US, the local Polestar office is located in the New York metro area, in Mahwah, New Jersey. Polestar Spaces have been opened in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Orange County, Calif.; New York City; Denver, Colorado; Boston; Central and Southern New Jersey; Dallas and Austin, Texas; Detroit; Minneapolis; Phoenix; Seattle; Atlanta; Charlotte, North Carolina; Connecticut; South Florida; and Washington D.C., with more to follow in Central California, the Pacific Northwest, and Hawaii. Polestar has produced two electric performance cars. The Polestar 1 was built between 2019 and 2021 as a low-volume electric performance hybrid GT with a carbon fiber body, 619 hp, 738 lb-ft of torque, and an electric-only range of 52 miles (EPA) – the longest of any hybrid car in the world. The Polestar 2 electric performance fastback is the company’s first fully electric, high-volume car. The Polestar 2 model range includes three variants with a combination of long- and standard range batteries as large as 78 kWh, and dual- and single-motor powertrains with as much as 476 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque. From 2022, Polestar plans to launch one new electric vehicle per year, starting with Polestar 3 – the company’s first electric performance SUV which is expected to debut in October 2022. Polestar 4 is expected to follow in 2023, a smaller electric performance SUV coupe. In 2024, the Polestar 5 electric performance 4-door GT is planned to be launched as the production evolution of Polestar Precept – the manifesto concept car that Polestar released in 2020 that showcases the brand’s future vision in terms of design, technology, and sustainability. As the company seeks to reduce its climate impact with every new model, Polestar aims to produce a truly climate-neutral car by 2030. In March 2022, Polestar revealed its second concept car, an electric performance roadster which builds on the design, technology and sustainability ambitions laid out by Precept and showcases the brand’s vision for future sports cars. The hard-top convertible presents an evolution of the unique design language first shown by Precept and emphasises a dynamic driving experience. The concept further develops the focus on sustainability and technology, aiming towards greater circularity. Polestar confirmed in August 2022 that a version of the concept will be produced as the Polestar 6 electric performance roadster, with launch expected in 2026. Mooi nieuws!

As Dodge kills off traditional muscle cars, Polestar is making an electric one Tue, August 16, 2022, 6:26 PMfinance.yahoo.com/news/as-dodge-kills... It’s the end of an era for Dodge (STLA) —and the beginning of one for electric upstart Polestar (PSNY). During Dodge Speed Week in Detroit, the automaker announced it was ending production of its popular Dodge Challenger and Charger muscle cars with the 2023 model year. Dodge will, however, release 7 special edition models, with details coming later this year. The muscle cars, with versions like the Demon, Hellcat, Redeye, Scat Pack, Shaker, and Jailbreak have been in production since 2005, a very long time in the automotive world. The Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger, in current form, are coming to an end, and the Dodge brand is seizing the opportunity to celebrate in true, over-the-top Dodge style. The Dodge 2023 lineup will pay homage to the muscle car pair with seven special models, the return of a rainbow of heritage colors (including Plum Crazy, shown at left), an expansion of SRT Jailbreak models, a commemorative Last Call underhood plaque for all 2023 Charger and Challenger vehicles and a new, customer-focused vehicle allocation process. The Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger, in current form, are coming to an end. “We are celebrating the end of an era — and the start of a bright new electrified future — by staying true to our brand,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge CEO in a statement. “[Dodge] will mark the last of our iconic Charger and Challenger nameplates in their current form in the same way that got us here, with a passion both for our products and our enthusiasts.” For a company that only offers 3 models - the Charger, Challenger, and Durango - killing off two of those models leaves Dodge at a crossroads. On the flipside, Swedish EV-maker Polestar is making news of its own, announcing its own "muscle car," if you will, with electric power. Earlier today Polestar confirmed its O2 concept roadster will be put into production, now dubbed the Polestar 6. The car is expected to launch in 2026, with reservations starting today. “With the overwhelming consumer and press response, we took the decision to put this stunning roadster into production and I am so excited to make it a reality,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO in a statement. “Polestar 6 is a perfect combination of powerful electric performance and the thrill of fresh air with the top down.” The Polestar 6 comes packing some impressive electric muscle beneath its sporty metal skin. The powertrain features an 800-volt architecture with dual motors creating 884hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. Polestar says car will reach 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. At the moment, there are no electric two-door coupes on the market that don’t cost hundreds of thousands (or millions) of dollars, and no electric convertibles at all. In what could be a coup for Polestar, it may have the only electric roadster on the market when the Polestar 6 comes out in 2026. Now Porsche says it will be making an electric version of its Boxster convertible, however CEO Oliver Blume has said it , with no firm launch date. GM also says an electric Corvette is coming . The Corvette is traditionally offered with a removable top or as a standalone convertible. While we may not see a true convertible muscle car to challenge the Polestar 6 for some time, don’t count out Dodge quite yet — the king of muscle cars in the works. And maybe there will be a drop top Dodge as well, for fans of American muscle dreaming of a cruise down Detroit’s iconic Woodward Avenue. —
En na #6 komt....Polestar teases on Social Media the Polestar 7, its new Electric Sports model eletric-vehicles.com/polestar/polesta... Written by Cláudio Afonso | info@claudio-afonso.com | LinkedIn | TwitterSwedish EV maker Polestar said Tuesday it will bring the electric Roadster concept into production with the market launch scheduled for 2026. Although, there’s more hidden in one of the pictures shared by the EV maker on Instagram. Polestar posted five pictures jointly with its Design Community account– which is curated by the company’s Interior Design Manager JP Bernal — to promote the official announcement of the Polestar 6 production. In the first four images, there’s nothing else to catch the user’s attention than the hard-top convertible revealed in Los Angeles last March, but that changes in the fifth picture where we can see a covered car right next to the upcoming Polestar 6. The image is purposely darkened in order not to reveal many details of the lines of what will be the Polestar 7, however, it is possible to see that the Swedish EV maker will stick to the sharp lines on the sports model. Source: Polestar Instagram BE THE FIRST ONE TO GET THE NEWS Considering the indicative price of $200,000 for the Polestar 6 model announced on Tuesday, Polestar 7 should aim for a cheaper segment well below $100,000. When asked on Twitter what is under the cover, the EV maker replied “Only time will tell” followed by an emoji. In early June, the company announced that its first all-electric SUV Polestar 3 will debut in October 2022 featuring a dual-motor drivetrain and a large battery with a range target of over 600 km. The model marks the entrance of the Swedish EV maker to “one of the highest margin and growth segments in the automotive industry, particularly in the United States”, Polestar said. Credit: Polestar 3 Polestar has now a new President for the Chinese Market. Feng Dan, that previously worked for SAIC-GM for eight years, started on Monday its role in leading Polestar China. During his time at SAIC-GM, Feng served as the national sales director and head of the business unit of the Cadillac brand increasing sales in China up to 230,000 in 2021. Last week, Hertz’s agencies in Australia received the first 100 Polestar 2 amid the 65,000 Polestar EVs purchase announced last April. The country will also receive units from the upcoming SUV Polestar 3 in late 2022/ early 2023. Recently, the largest U.S. EV subscription company Autonomy placed an order for 23,000 electric vehicles from 17 automakers including 200 Polestar 2 models. The order with the Swedish EV manufacturer Polestar will generate $10.1 million of Revenue with an average cost of $50,500 per vehicle. Autonomy plans to “expand and diversify its subscription fleet” after starting its business with only Tesla models. Written by Cláudio Afonso | info@claudio-afonso.com | LinkedIn | Twitter

Begrijp niet alle details maar ze is alvast positief: Why is $PSNY a unique mechanical setup as well as structure: For starters, 94.7% of the float is controlled by Li Shufu. Nearly the entire float is tied up and I’m assuming there is no incentive to sell as he is probably raking it in with the 300% CTB that shorts are paying. This is one unique additive to the situation. Ortex data is as follows. There is 9.23M shares short with a float that is 94.7% controlled by one person leaving the free float rather small. Shorts are paying out the ass with a 307% CTB and the stock never dropped like many thought it would and you can assume. Shorts will be underwater once the stock trades over 10 which should create pressure. Thirdly, there is no shares available to short on a stock with high short interest given free float is rather small and float is very tight given the ownership and share structure. Interestingly enough, the POC is 10.22, shorts seem to have control as long as $PSNY is under the POC. Over that can seriously ignite things. In terms of free float, Volvo seems to be the majority holder. Lastly, the option chain is Jacked for all mopex dates, specifically October and January. Moves above certain strikes as we have seen before create pressure and heat on shorts. The IV is a whooping mid 50% on October and January contracts. These are severely mispriced. By the market market given the potential of this setup. Personally will be adding October and January calls as well as commons. Although I’m not a fan of the company, rightfully so, the mechanical setup is something I haven’t seen before. I think this can be an explosive one.
