    Als ik eerlijk ben en kijk naar het verleden in de SPAC wereld en mijn ervaring hierin zal er geen hype meer komen tot de merger (even na 22 juni).
    Mijn ervaring met SPACs zegt dat er altijd één hype is. Deze heeft GGPI al gehad als piek $16 een tijdje geleden en that's it, denk ik.
    De vraag is ook nog wat doet PSNY (ticker Polestar na de merger) na de merger? Vaak zie je na een merger zelfs waardevermindering van het aandeel.
    De enige steun is, dat Polestar een goede omzet draait, goede partners heeft en meer lijnen en uitbreiding van zijn wagenpark gaat doen wereldwijd.
    Indirecte negatieve katalysator is ook dat het moment nu slecht is: we zitten in een inflatie, rentestijging fase, hoge energiekosten en een aankomende recessie. Ik ben benieuwd en realistisch.

    Ik denk dat de route, SPAC, niet het kenmerk moet zijn om dit aandeel op te beoordelen.

    Overigens heb ik, met hetzelfde doel, Allego gekocht.
    Die was pre merger zelfs 6,46. Dat was een no brainer om flink in te kopen. Dat is dan ook mijn GAK.
    Gedraagt zich momenteel als een meme aandeel, dus kansen om bij te kopen.
    Zij leggen door heel Europa laadpalen aan, oa bij restaurantketens.

    Ik wilde duidelijk maken dat er een SPAC periode is met zijn specifieke gedrag (waarbij emotie meer de overhand heeft dan de inhoud) en daarna het bedrijf zelf na de merger zijn weg vindt op de beurs.
    Zoals ik ook zei draait Polestar op dit moment best als een tierelier en heeft het een positieve outlook, wat bepalend kan zijn voor hun plek in 'the EV-world' (en concurrenten).

    Gores Guggenheim Stock Is an Electric Vehicle Play Worth Considering

    Since 2020, many electric vehicle (EV) companies have gone public via the special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) route. An upcoming EV SPAC deal is the tie-up between Gores Guggenheim (NASDAQ:GGPI) and EV company Polestar. Compared to other EV SPAC stocks, like Lucid Group (NASDAQ:LCID), for example, excitement over GGPI stock has been relatively muted.

    Yet I wouldn’t take this lack of high excitement to mean Polestar is some sort of “also-ran” contender. It may not be another Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) in the making, but in terms of moving out of the pre-revenue stage, it has made far more progress than Lucid.

    Already generating billions in revenue, it now has its sights set on the U.S. market. Success stateside could go a long way in growing its valuation. With this in mind, you may want to consider buying, ahead of the deal closing, set for next month.

    GGPI Stock at a Glance

    Debuting in May 2021, and announcing its selected merger partner in September 2021, Gores Guggenheim didn’t wait long to make a deal. It did, however, get into the game a bit late. It became an EV stock at the tail end of the 2020/2021 EV boom.

    As a result, unlike LCID stock, or even some other EV SPAC plays like Fisker (NYSE:FSR), GGPI stock never made a true “to the moon” type move. After the announcement, it briefly spiked to over $16 per share. For the most part, though, it has traded sideways in the low-teens per share.

    Now, with the latest pullback in speculative growth stocks, Gores Guggenheim has moved even lower. It trades for just over its original $10 per share SPAC price. Yet despite its mixed performance so far, the stock could really take off in the years ahead. Why? Two reasons.

    First, based on its success so far, it appears to have a much stronger chance of living up to expectations. Second, based on its current price, investors can buy it at a favorable valuation. These two factors could enable shares to lift off in price if its scaling efforts succeed.

    High Payoff Potential If Polestar Delivers

    You can say Polestar is a newcomer, yet calling it an “early stage” company may be a misnomer. Already established in its home base of Europe, it generated an estimated $1.4 billion in sales last year.

    As InvestorPlace’s Shrey Dua reported May 19, during the first quarter of 2022, it sold 13,600 vehicles, more than double the amount sold during the prior year’s quarter. Despite supply chain headwinds, it still expects to sell a total of 50,000 vehicles worldwide.

    Based on its strong growth to date, Polestar has a good chance of continuing to level up on this success. Through both the ramp up of its presence in the U.S. auto market, plus the rollout of new SUV and luxury sport models to accompany its current fleet (the luxury Polestar 1, and the mass affluent Polestar 2), the company intends to hit 290,000 annual vehicle sales and $17.6 billion in annual revenue by 2025.

    Best of all, you get this potential at a reasonable valuation, based on the current price of GGPI stock. Per the SPAC deal terms (2.125 billion shares outstanding post-merger), the company has an implied valuation of around $21.8 billion.

    The Verdict

    Earning a “B” rating in my Portfolio Grader, Gores Guggenheim offers high upside potential. If it can continue to meet/beat expectations, the company, which post-merger takes on the Polestar name, and the PSNY stock ticker, will likely be worth many times what it trades for today.

    Relative to other EV plays, the risk/return proposition is highly favorable. For some investors, this may make it worthy of a speculative position. It’s unclear whether the stock pops or drops when it has its “deSPACing” (completes its SPAC merger).

    Many SPAC stocks surged post-merger during 2020 and 2021, but it has been less common in 2022 due to changing market conditions. Even so, as it’s best to approach it as a long-term position, if you’re confident it will deliver, now may be the time to buy GGPI stock.

    Polestar has made its first financial investment as a company, investing in extreme fast charging battery technology innovator, StoreDot. StoreDot is pioneering the development of silicon-dominant extreme fast charging batteries for electric vehicles. The Israel-based company aims to produce batteries for EVs capable of charging up to 99 miles of range in just five minutes, by 2024. StoreDot’s advanced battery technology aligns with Polestar’s strategy of leveraging broader innovative industry partners to drive advancements in electric mobility.

    As part of the strategic deal, Polestar is collaborating with StoreDot to explore adapting and applying their technology to proof-of-concept Polestar cars. Test cases already being explored include customizing StoreDot’s cell technology for Polestar cars, to enable faster charging and improved circularity.

    Charging and range anxiety are common concerns holding owners of combustion engine cars back from making the switch to EVs. StoreDot’s advanced battery technology potentially provides real solutions to these obstacles. If current pilot projects with StoreDot are successful, these solutions may be implemented in Polestar cars by 2026.

    Bloomberg: Polestar is a global EV brand like Tesla, delivering globally, producing in the United States, Europe, and China
    Thomas: I think that is certainly a strong parallel between Tesla and us, and of course launching the competitor to the Model 3, all that brought it to this direct competition and comparison. Long-term, our ambition is the premium luxury segment, the three cars we are launching are certainly on the premium side and the ambition Tesla is dealing with.

    Bloomberg: I have had the opportunity to drive the Polestar 1, I was instantly impressed by especially the suspension, using Swedish Ohlins. Polestar 2, I’ve seen it out there on the road. You are really breaking apart from Volvo with Polestar 2 and 3. How are sales going and what kind of sales expectations you have for Polestar 3?
    Thomas: 55,000 Polestar 2s are on the road. We have a very strong intake. This is 32,000 so far which is 290% up from the year before, so we are happy with the uptake. And we know we would rather run after getting each and every car chasing customers. We are happy with the demand and definitely on track with our promise to actually go all the way up to the 290,000 by 2025.

    Bloomberg: Who is behind the Polestar 2 and who do you think will be buying the Polestar 3? Thomas: This is just anecdotal, but company after company I talk to now seems to be offering in EV of some sort and as some sort of a bonus, employees can buy cars from companies, get a tax advantage. Certainly, if you’re a business owner you can get a tax advantage by buying an electric vehicle. We are also seeing the deal with Hertz. What will this be aimed at and who is going to be buying it?
    Thomas: To start, electrification is a reality. The European parliament made the official end state of the combustion engine, starting in 2035, it will stop. So, everybody will be driving EVs. Our customers, it’s a mixed bag. We have customers that had other electric experiences, but there’s a big amount of people who come from owning a BMW and Mercedes, so it’s a mixture there.

    Bloomberg: In terms of the deal with Hertz, how many Polestar 3s will be going to Hertz?
    Thomas: The deal is over five years, 65,000 cars, and it will be a mixed bag. It will be not only the Polestar 2 which was the prime talks, but the Polestar 3 as well. We will also launch the Polestar 4 in our range and definitely the 3, 4 and 5 will be part of this as well. And Hertz for us is an opportunity to bring Polestar to people for the first time driving an electric car, and it will enable us to build brand awareness.

    Bloomberg: It will build brand awareness where people can buy and trade your shares, you are planning on going public through a reverse merger SPAC with Gores Guggenheim, to close this month I believe after the shareholder meeting you have scheduled at the end of June. How is that going? Is that on track? Do you expect this to happen because we’ve seen deals fall through.
    Thomas: This is on track and now really that’s the goal in front of us. We will indeed close by the end of the month—by the end of this, we will be on the Nasdaq. We look forward to run the company like that.

    Bloomberg: I want to bring up Ohlins again, are you going to be exploring that partnership further? Because they are just like solid shocks.
    Thomas: It’s definitely the great spice in our recipe we love to cook with. We definitely will continue. We just launched a special edition even more exquisite—and the Polestar 3 will have their special corner.

    Bloomberg: Fellows we are going to wrap things up. One thing about Matt is he talks so knowledgeably about the EVs and the love for them, yet I think what you got to look at is not what he says, but what he does. He just bought a new house, have you bought a new car and is it an EV?
    Bloomberg: In terms of full disclosure, yes, I have just bought a Chevy Silverado, 22-liter gas V-8, but I also bought a Volvo with a hybrid powertrain. It’s got the electric battery as well as a supercharged turbocharged two liter four-cylinder engine. So, we are going both ways.
    Thomas: I definitely will send you the invite for the Polestar 3 test drive. I’m sure there is some opportunity for you there.
    Bloomberg: I look forward to it.
    Bloomberg: I think Matt’s wife could be the target market there. Matt on the other hand, I’m not quite sure. We really appreciate the time with the CEO of Polestar.

    Polestar zet de snelle groei naar andere landen door. Met recente openingen in Spanje en Portugal is Polestar nu al aanwezig in 25 landen. Ook het aantal modellen blijft groeien. In 2023 krijgt de Polestar 3 gezelschap van de Polestar 4, waarmee het premium aanbod binnen het competitieve SUV-segment compleet. Tot 2024 wil Polestar elk jaar een nieuw model lanceren.

    GGPI is helemaal naar teruggevallen, maar de productie, de verkopen en het uitbreiden van hun wagenpark gaat gestaag door. Dit bedrijf moet toch een fijne omzet hebben en krijgen komende jaren.
    Moment van merger is ongelukkig in deze zware tijd (ook) voor duurzame aandelen.
