    Leuk dat de belangstelling voor hun technologie groter wordt en er nieuwe samenwerkingsovereenkomsten worden gemaakt. Ik verheug me op de realisering van het prototype in de UK in 2023 dat model moet staan voor een commerciële volgende stap richting vermarkting. Evenwel is het allemaal nog toekomstmuziek.

    Er schijnt een gerucht te zijn dat men via Altec Energy aan het lobbyen is voor een plant in Thailand (voet aan de grond krijgen in Azië).

    Linde is samen met Air Liquide marktleider als het gaat om de productie en distributie van vloeibare gassen.
    Een dergelijke gerenommeerde partner is geweldig. Evenwel is die ook zo weer vertrokken mochten de resultaten en prospecten tegen vallen. Linde zit met haar tentakels in alles dat wat relevant is voor het bedrijf - soms groot, soms klein, soms vanuit echte interesse, soms vanuit greenwashing...

    Niet te vroeg juichen is het devies.

    Powerhouse Energy Group (PHE.L) Development partner signs letter of intent

    Development partner, Hydrogen Utopia International, signs Letter of Intent with Bulgarian city

    Powerhouse Energy Group plc (AIM: PHE), the UK technology company commercialising hydrogen production from waste plastic, is pleased to note that its development partner, Hydrogen Utopia International PLC (HUI), has signed a letter of intent with the City of Simitli, Bulgaria.

    The letter sets out HUI’s intention to build and manage a Distributed Modular Gasification plant (DMG®) using Powerhouse’s technology sited in a commercial sector close to existing waste remediation facilities in Simitli in the south-west of Bulgaria. The project would be subject to approval by Powerhouse.

    Powerhouse is pleased to see HUI’s progress in Bulgaria. Powerhouse announced on 7 October 2021 that it had entered into a binding collaboration agreement (the “Collaboration Agreement”) with HU2021 International UK Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hydrogen Utopia International PLC, to market the deployment of DMG® technology in territories outside the UK.

    All potential projects under the Colloboration Agreement are subject to approval by Powerhouse and the formal IP Implementation licence to HUI for construction of its projects approved by Powerhouse, which will cover the licence fees to be received by Powerhouse for any deployment of the DMG technology, has yet to be agreed.

    Funding Hydropolis United in Konin, Poland
    Poland – Hydrogen Utopia International’s wholly owned subsidiary, Hydropolis United has passed pre-qualification, and made a full application for a €17 million loan from the National Fund for Environmental Protection & Water Management.

    Hydrogen Utopia International is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary Hydropolis United sp. z o.o. passed an initial, stringent pre-qualification process which has enabled it to make an application for a substantial 17 million Euro loan from the NFEP&WM.

    Of eight initial applicants, only six enterprises qualified for the next stage of the process to be awarded government funding which is directed solely towards Hydrogen projects. A full application from Hydropolis United was submitted on the 22nd November 2021, and included the concept design, and business model for a waste-to-hydrogen plant in the city of Konin, central Poland.

    Hydrogen Utopia is confident that there is a high probability for a positive outcome.

    Electron Thermal Processing Equipment BV will undertake the pyrolysis and steam reforming of plastic waste to produce hydrogen rich synthesis gas. Linde Engineering will supply the equipment and expertise for the gas clean-up and hydrogen extraction. The DMG® system to be deployed on the 1.5 hectare site is scalable, based on 40 tonnes of plastic feedstock producing 2.7 tonnes of 99.999 % road fuel quality hydrogen, and any multiple of this.

    The benefits of the loan include a favourable interest rate and repayment plan, and the ability to be eligible for a further sum of just over 2 million Euro in non-repayable grant funding, if the project delivers the anticipated results including the required level of clean hydrogen with CO2 savings.

    Konin is situated in Eastern Wielkopolska which has traditionally been a major lignite mining area, but is now considered a coal phase out region. Lignite has a particularly heavy environmental footprint - the scheme proposed by Hydrogen Utopia would enable Konin to transition away from fossil fuels, whilst creating employment and the opportunity to showcase innovative technology.

    Should Hydropolis United sp. z o.o. be awarded the 17 million plus public funding, it is likely to attract considerable private investment having achieved such an endorsement for its project concept, technology and feasibility from the Polish Government.

    Aleksandra Binkowska, CEO of Hydrogen Utopia International PLC commented: “DMG is the only technology which I believe, can fix the plastic problem and produce hydrogen. Both HUI and its wholly owned subsidiary Hydropolis United have worked very hard to prepare a state of the art application, presented to the Polish Government, and I believe that we will be successful. The Polish Government recognises the importance of this technology and its substantial impact on Polish society.“

    Niet hetzelfde procedé als Powerhouse lijkt me, maar toch gewoon een goed en belangrijk signaal:

    In het Zuid-Koreaanse Dangjin zal een fabriek gebouwd worden die waterstof zal maken van plastic afval. Hyundai Engineering Co. financiert de fabriek voor ruim 300 miljoen euro. Hyundai wil ook inzetten op carbon capture and storage (CCS) voor de vrijgekomen CO2 tijdens het omzettingsproces.

    De fabriek die ten zuiden van Seoul zal gebouwd worden zou in 2024 volledig operationeel zijn, maar de eerste productie wordt wel al verwacht midden 2022. Jaarlijks zou 220.000 ton waterstof geproduceerd worden uit 100.000 ton plastic, wat 150.000 waterstofauto’s van energie zou voorzien.

    De omzetting van plastic naar waterstof zal volgens Hyundai gebeuren aan de hand van de chemische processen van pyrolyse en vergassing. Bij pyrolyse wordt het plastic ontleed in een zuurstofarme omgeving onder hoge temperaturen (200 tot 900 °C). De zuurstof wordt terug toegevoegd aan het afval in een met stoom verwarmde oven (tot 2000 °C) in het vergassingsproces. Dit resulteert in een tot moleculair niveau afgebroken afval, namelijk H2-moleculen. De CCS-technologie wordt eerst in Hyundai Steel getest.
