Everfuel to deliver green hydrogen to fuel cells developed by TECO 2030 | TECO 2030 ASA
As part of the agreement, the companies will develop solutions enabling Everfuel to distribute and deliver green hydrogen to sites where TECO 2030’s hydrogen fuel cell power generators are located, or to ships, vehicles or equipment with TECO 2030’s fuel cell technology installed.

TECO 2030 and Everfuel will focus particularly on exploring the possibility of providing decentralised power supply for off-grid construction projects in areas where Everfuel has available hydrogen capacity and infrastructure.

Will enable a switch away from diesel generators

The cooperation between the two companies will enable construction sites with no available grid connection to lower their climate footprint and reduce emissions by switching from diesel generators to zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell generators.

By doing so, they will be able to charge their electric diggers and other construction equipment emissions-free.

Diesel generators cause greenhouse gas emissions and pollution and are often used to produce electricity when there is no available connection to a power grid, such as at construction sites in areas with limited grid capacity.

The cooperation between TECO 2030 and Everfuel will also enable other projects that use equipment and machines that need electricity, and that are located in areas with insufficient grid capacity, to cut their emissions to zero.

    Green hydrogen

“We are very excited about our new cooperation with Everfuel because it means that we will soon be able to offer our customers easy access to green hydrogen to fuel our fuel cells in areas that are difficult to decarbonise,” says Tore Enger, CEO of TECO 2030 ASA.

“Due to our new cooperation with Everfuel, many construction sites and other projects and activities that use diesel generators will now be able to reduce their climate footprint by switching to emissions-free fuel cell generators,” Enger says.

Green hydrogen is hydrogen produced with renewable energy such as electricity from hydropower plants, wind turbines and solar panels.

When applications or vehicles replace their traditional combustion engines running on fossil fuels with fuel cells fuelled by green hydrogen, they can become completely emissions-free.

Will open a huge market for hydrogen

“We are very excited to develop distribution and delivery solutions for users of the robust and high-capacity fuel cells delivered by TECO 2030. We believe it will open a huge market for hydrogen and introduce zero-emission solutions in hard-to-decarbonise segments,” says Jacob Krogsgaard, CEO of Everfuel AS.

TECO 2030 is developing hydrogen fuel cells that are specifically designed for use on ships or other heavy-duty applications. Hydrogen fuel cells are the engines of tomorrow and convert hydrogen into electricity while emitting nothing but water vapour and warm air.

TECO 2030 is also developing fuel cell generators that can replace diesel generators. The fuel cell generators will function much like a generator that is powered by diesel or other fossil fuels but will use hydrogen as fuel and will therefore be emissions-free.

Shell investeert in plastic recycling technologiebedrijf BlueAlp

    Centrumlinkse oppositiepartijen winnen verkiezingen Noorwegen
    14 sept 08:22

Aker Carbon Capture Selected by Viridor as Partner for Accelerating Decarbonization at Multiple Waste to Energy Sites in the UK

    October 19, 2021

OSLO, Norway, Oct. 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Aker Carbon Capture and Viridor, one of the UK's leading recycling, resources and waste management companies, today announced plans to help the UK accelerate its decarbonization agenda through a partnership for next-generation modular carbon capture, utilization and storage technology (CCUS).

Viridor has an ambition to become the first net zero waste company by 2040 by bringing forward CCUS alongside plastics extraction and increased recycling. To support the delivery of CCUS, Viridor unveiled plans that could unleash up to £1bn private investment into the UK. The plans include exploring the installation of modular CCUS plants on five Viridor waste-to-energy sites across the UK. Viridor has partnered with pure-play CCUS specialist Aker Carbon Capture for the delivery of five modular plants. This partnership with Aker Carbon Capture could accelerate Viridor's net zero plans by a decade to 2030.

Aker Carbon Capture's Just Catch™ modular carbon capture plant is based on the company's proprietary and HSE-friendly carbon capture technology, which it has developed over the past two decades.

The modular carbon capture plants will allow the technology to be deployed within fifteen months of planning and permitting, reducing fossil emissions at these sites by up to 90 percent. Developing the modular CCUS plants on the five waste-to-energy sites combined with two planned bespoke CCUS plants, would deliver about 1.5 million tonnes CO2 savings a year, meeting 15 percent of the UK government's 2030 emissions reduction target. This investment would also create around 1,000 construction jobs and up to 180 skilled green jobs in Scotland, Wales and the English regions.

"We are delighted to partner with Viridor on projects that could realize major emissions reductions in a hard to abate sector like waste-to-energy by 2030," said Valborg Lundegaard, Chief Executive Officer of Aker Carbon Capture. "Our modular carbon capture plants are designed for fast delivery and easy hook-up, and together with our partners we see this as a great opportunity to contribute to reaching climate goals and creating green jobs in the UK."

This announcement is the latest phase of Viridor's sector-leading decarbonization plan. In May 2020 Viridor outlined a five-step action plan to net zero emissions by 2040, and the ambition to be the first net negative emissions waste and recycling company in the UK by 2045.

"Viridor stands ready to invest in developing world-leading carbon capture technology," said Kevin Bradshaw, CEO of Viridor, which is majority owned by investment company KKR. "This will support our company and sector to decarbonize, as we have committed to do. But first of a kind technology projects on this scale require genuine partnership between the public and private sectors. Government policy support for waste management facilities to participate in industrial carbon capture schemes will be vital for us to keep progressing our plans."

The partners look forward to collaborating and maturing the opportunities in the rapidly evolving market for CCUS in the UK.

"The UK has set out a globally leading ambition on CCUS and has the natural resources to make this a reality, which was instrumental in attracting Aker Carbon Capture to partner with Viridor in this market," said David Phillips, Head of UK at Aker Carbon Capture.

Initiation of coverage November 26th 2021 Share price: NOK 6.15 Target: NOK 10
    Risk: High
    TECO 2030
    BUY
    First-mover in heavy-duty marine decarbonization
We initiate a coverage of TECO 2030 (TECO), a company that develops technology aimed at reducing heavy-duty marine sector’s environmental footprint - hydrogen fuel cells and carbon capture technology. The management has a solid experience in the maritime sector and is partnering with renown companies AVL and Chart Industries. We base our estimates on company’s guided production volumes and take a bullish stance towards the stock, supported by ongoing energy transition trends. Thus, we issue Buy recommendation with a TP of NOK 10/sh and identify NOK 5-22/sh valuation range as low/high scenarios. Yet, we emphasize that the investment is risky as the company is still in the development stage with almost no revenues and will inevitably need more financing.
    Investment case
    • Huge potential market for Hydrogen Fuel Cells (HFC) and Carbon Capture & Storage solution in maritime sector. The market for HFC and CCS is likely to grow at a fast pace due to regulatory requirements towards the reduction of marine industry emissions. Regulations by IMO and EU imply that maritime sector will have to meet increasingly stricter environmental regulations. To achieve this, shipping companies will have to utilize various technologies amongst them TECO 2030’s.
    • First-movers advantage. Marine Hydrogen Fuel Cell is a relatively new technology, and the competition is limited. Yet, competitors like Ballard and Hyundai pose a significant competition risk.
    • Explicit focus on heavy-duty vessels with higher power density fuel cells vs competitors. Compared to Key competitors (Hyundai, PowerCell, Ballard Power) who are adapting their fuel cells from automotive industry, TECO 2030 fuel cells are specifically designed for maritime solutions and are expected to have higher power density.
    • Flexible business model. TECO 2030 is setting up a production facility and innovation hub in Narvik, Norway where the production capacity and ramp up can be adjusted accordingly to the market demand.
    • Strong partnership with AVL. TECO 2030 is developing Hydrogen Fuel Cell in close cooperation with AVL that is a global leader in power train systems with numerous partnerships with global industry leaders. In 2021, AVL has also signed a MoU with Hyundai Heavy Industries Group to develop 0.2-1.5MW HFCs for ships – this signifies the AVL’s expertise in HFCs.
    • Our DCF based TP sands at NOK 10 /sh. This is implying attractive upside potential. However, we emphasize that this is a high risk case with limited revenues currently, lots of R&D activities and the need for further funding down the read.
