    Leuk voor de lange termijn en met de visie op de nieuwe (grote capaciteit) batterij technologie die eraan zit te komen waarin HPA poeder ( High purity Alumina ) een grote rol speelt. Dit is een van de bedrijven die hard aan de weg timmert met dit product en een fabriek in australie , maleisie en eerdaags ook in duitsland opent.

    het aandeel staat nog op 3 cent ( 22 cent geweest 2 jaar geleden ) en wordt verhandeld op de frankfurt exchange onder de noemer; AU000000ATC9

    High purity alumina (HPA) is a high-purity form of aluminium oxide (Al2O3).

    '' High purity alumina is a high-value, high margin and highly demanded product as it is the critical ingredient required for the production of synthetic sapphire. Synthetic sapphire is used in the manufacture of substrates for LED lights, semiconductor wafers used in the electronics industry, and scratch-resistant sapphire glass used for wristwatch faces, optical windows and smartphone components. There is no substitute for HPA in the manufacture of synthetic sapphire. Increasingly, HPA is being used as a coating on the separator sheets in lithium-ion batteries. HPA is a premium priced material (selling for up to US$40 per kg) with forecast significant annual demand growth driven primarily by two fast-growing industries: the sapphire/LED industry and the rapidly expanding lithium-ion battery industry.

    With global HPA demand approximately 19,000tpa (2018), it is estimated that this demand will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30% (2018-2028); by 2028 HPA market demand is forecast to be approximately 272,000tpa, driven by both the increasing adoption of LEDs worldwide as well as the increasing demand by lithium-ion battery manufacturers to serve the surging electric vehicle market.''

    Altech Chemicals Limited (ASX:ATC) (FRA:A3Y) has executed a purchase agreement option for a 10-hectare industrial site in Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park at Spreetal in the Saxony region of Germany as the company considers constructing a second high purity alumina (HPA) plant.

    This also comes after Germany unveiled details of electric vehicle (EV) industry fiscal support incorporated in its economic stimulus package post-COVID-19.

    The company received an official invitation from the State Government of Saxony in September 2020 to consider building its next HPA plant in Saxony.

    This deal provides Altech with an initial 12-month term during which it can exercise its purchase option, with the ability to extend the option period by a further 12-months via mutual consent.

    Perth, Australia, Oct 28, 2020 - (ABN Newswire) - Altech Chemicals Ltd (ASX:ATC) (HAM:A3Y) recently announced that it is in the final development stage of a high purity alumina (HPA) grade that is specifically designed for anode applications within lithium-ion batteries. This initiative is in response to lithium-ion battery anode development trends that Altech has identified in Europe from its engagement with potential HPA users, and from its work with research organisations such as the internationally renowned Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Institute. This initiative also offers another potential avenue to secure a portion of future HPA production at a predetermined floor price, which would support project financial close.
    The Altech break-through

    As a result of ground-breaking research and development work led by the Company's General Manager Operations and Marketing, Dr. Jingyuan Liu, Altech is now proceeding to an independent verification phase of its method for the alumina coating of graphite particles. University and laboratory verification of the process (patent pending) is due for completion during the next quarter, and Altech expects that positive verification will result in potential end-user trials, and eventually commercialisation of the process.

    Kort gezegd:

    Altech is bezig met de bouw van een HPA fabriek in Malesie, HPA is een fabrikaat/poedervorm die gebruikt wordt om onderdelen binnen Lithium ION batterijen te coaten, deze HPA techniek is een verbeterde vorm van het origineel waardoor de zogenaamde First Cycle Loss wordt beperkt , kortgezegd : een lithium ion batterij die nieuw is verliest 70 procent van zijn capaciteit in de eerste ontlading , daarna blijft hij op het niveau waarop wij de levensduur van de huidige batterijen kennen.

    Dit houd dus in dat deze batterijen een aanzienlijk hogere capaciteit hebben , waardoor dus langere range's mogelijk zijn in bijvoorbeeld auto,s en heftrucks.

    Tevens heeft Altech Chemicals van de duitse staat Saksen een toezegging gekregen om een fabriek in duitsland te bouwen op een aangewezen stuk grond ,en een lening van 9 miljoen daarbij.

    Bovendien heeft Altech sinds 2018 een samenwerking met Mitsubishi , die hebben geinvesteerd in het HPA project van Altech en dus aandelen in dit project en bedrijf.

    Artikel uit begin 2020 : Australian innovator Altech Chemicals Ltd. announced yesterday that it is close to developing a variety of high-purity alumina (HPA) that is specifically designed for use in the production of anodes in lithium-ion batteries.

    Per the firm, one of the greatest problems facing lithium-ion batteries is the phenomenon of “first cycle capacity loss,” which is the formation of inactive layers of lithium ions that form on anodes beginning from the very first charging cycle and continuing on for the life of the battery. Lithium ions adhere directly onto the uncoated graphite anodes, which has led many manufacturers to explore coatings that reduce or prevent such a coating from forming.

    Altech says it has developed a process for sharply reducing the formation of a lithium-ion layer on graphite anodes using a proprietary blend of HPA. Dubbed “Anode Grade APC01” and “Anode Grade ALC01,” the blend would improve Coulombic Efficiency (CE) from the very first charging cycle. In addition, Altech says the coating would increase cycling stability, high-rate performance, and fast charging.
