    "I will summarise the key points of the article that relate to Novacyt:

    1. First the post was held by a Ms Marsh, a former chief executive of the NHS. She could not cope with the pressure of the job and was as much use as a chocolate fireguard (my words!), achieving very little.
    2. Mike Coupe then took over – he was former Sainsbury’s CEO. Under him the test and trace programme increased to around 550k tests per day. But he deployed LFT to local authorities, universities, hospitals and care homes (we all know how stupid that decision was). In addition, the National Audit Office found significant shortcoming in turnaround times of lab-based PCR tests (only 28% within 24hours!).
    3. Jason Holt is now replacing Mike Cope (presumably due to the above short comings – Public Health England did not comment). Jason Holt was previously head of the aviation company, Swissport, where had had lobbied the government to use swab tests [PCR] to release passengers from 14-day quarantine period, which he described as a “win-win” for the government, passengers and the aviation sector.

    What is the significance to Novacyt of the above? I believe this could be very positive.

    Jason Holt is significantly more pro- PCR. He is also ruthless and should get the job done. IMO, the government are not necessarily using LFT just due to cost but more to do with ease of use and turn around time. Under Holt, we could see a significate shift away from LFT and toward PCR, if he can get the systems in place to see a more rapid turnaround to centralised (Lighthouse lab) testing and fully utilising the available capacity.

    Holt may also see the value in near patient testing and the Q16/32 machines (or Versalab), having lobbied for similar to be used at airports. Clearly, many flights out of UK have been stopped this weekend. The only way out of this is to ensure that all passengers are tested before boarding with a PCR that is guaranteed to pick up the new variant – which Primerdesign test clearly do.

    In the is new role, however, his interest will be much wider than aviation. If he thinks it will work for air traffic, he will see it working for schools, hospitals and care homes, plus businesses etc.

    Patience is needed. In the end this government will get there and fully harness the potential of this great company.

    Plans to post millions of rapid testing kits to homes are BLOCKED by regulator amid fears they are not accurate enough when people test themselves

    On Friday, Mr Johnson refused to rule out the drastic step of a third national lockdown.

    Latest figures from the Department of Health show there are 18,469 patients in hospital with coronavirus, the highest number since mid-April.

    And a further 28,507 Covid cases were reported on Friday – the second highest total yet – along with 489 deaths. This figure was up from 424 a week earlier.

    But the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) believes the lateral flow tests are not accurate enough when people test themselves - dampening hopes that they could help to avoid a new lockdown.

    The tests only pick up around 49 per cent of infections when used by ordinary people, a previous pilot study showed.

    The news that the MHRA is blocking the rollout of postal kits was reported by the Daily Telegraph.

    The newspaper also revealed that frustration is growing at the top of government about the slow pace of the rollout of the rapid testing kits.

    Mr Hancock is said to be being blamed about the failure to address the MHRA's concerns about their accuracy.

    The tests, produced by US-based firm Innova, only pick up 48.89 per cent of active infections when they were used by ordinary people, according to a University of Liverpool pilot programme.

    Earlier tests carried out in the lab found the kits had an overall sensitivity of 76.8 per cent, rising to 95 per cent in individuals with a high viral load.

    A Whitehall official told the Telegraph that the proposals for home-testing went to the MHRA 'in recent days'.

    Het liniaaltje lijkt te kunnen worden gelegd langs de 9,80. Voor nu, want ondertussen loopt de bied-kant van het boekje steeds (naar verhouding) voller, kort onder de 9,80.
    Toch ben ik wel benieuwd of de gap (vanaf 9,58) naar 9,18 eerst ook nog weer gesloten gaat worden door wat grote dumpers, om vervolgens de weg naar boven te vervolgen.

    meestal is dit wel zo , maar zou er geen geld durven op verwedden . Kan evengoed zijn dat deze namiddag de koers boven de 10 schiet en er niet meer onder gaat . Je kan er geen pijl meer op trekken . Ik blijf gewoon zitten nu , voel ik mij het meest comfortabel bij

    Ik zou er zeker ook niet op willen verkopen nu. Bedoel er vooral mee dat een kooporder leggen rond die 9,18 (wat tevens dus ook nog steeds in de buurt is van de laatste aankoopprijs van de CEO) misschien helemaal niet zo'n slecht idee is.
