    Wat een smerige georganiseerde manipulatie, zoals we gewend zijn van de geldwolven !! Notabene een approval van FDA gehad. Alle stukjes moeten blijkbaar naar de institutionele beleggers. Geen wonder dat de gewone man niet meer de beurs op durft, door dit soort maffia praktijken

    Tegenvaller AstraZeneca bij testen cholesterolmiddel

    LONDEN (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - De Britse farmaceut AstraZeneca heeft een tegenvaller moeten incasseren bij vergevorderde testen met een experimenteel medicijn tegen een bepaalde vorm van hoog cholesterol. Het bedrijf stopt nu met verdere testen met het middel genaamd Epanova en zet een buitengewone last van 100 miljoen dollar in de boeken.

    Epanova is gebaseerd op visolie. Uit de testen bleek echter dat het middel weinig effectief was bij behandeling van een bepaalde vorm van hoog cholesterol. AstraZeneca kreeg het experimentele medicijn in handen bij de overname van Omthera Pharmaceuticals in 2013. De farmaceut verklaarde teleurgesteld te zijn door de tegenvallende testuitslagen en gaat nu onderzoek doen naar de boekwaarde van het middel van 533 miljoen dollar. Analisten hadden verwacht dat het middel in 2023 goed voor 145 miljoen dollar aan omzet zou zijn.

    Overigens wordt Epanova in de Verenigde Staten wel gebruikt voor de behandeling van andere vormen van cholesterol.

    Patent lawyer puts high PoS on Amarin appeal, says Roth Capital Roth Capital analyst Yasmeen Rahimi hosted a call with leading patent lawyer Shashank Upadhye to dive into the nuances behind the recent District Court ruling in favor of generics, as well as strategy and prospects surrounding Amarin's intended appeal to the Federal Court. The analyst notes that Upadhye puts high Probability of Success on Amarin's appeal, with "a winning appeal argument" likely focusing on District Court's take on primary versus secondary considerations. Rahimi has a Buy rating and a $31 price target on the shares.

    Missed expectations on the top and bottom lines suggest Amarin's path forward isn't as clear as investors want it to be.

    Shares of Amarin (AMRN -44.34%), a pharmaceutical company that markets a fish oil supplement called Vascepa, are under pressure after the company's first-quarter earnings call. Results that missed expectations prompted the market to drag the stock 42.9% lower as of 10:25 a.m. ET on Wednesday.

    Back in 2019, the Food and Drug Administration approved an expanded indication for Vascepa that was expected to produce windfall profits for the company. Unfortunately for Amarin, a federal court ruling opened Vascepa up to competition from generic versions in 2020.

    The stock is sliding today because first-quarter earnings results suggest the company's commercialization strategy isn't working. First-quarter revenue fell 34% year over year to $94 million, which was $33 million less than Wall Street was expecting.

    The company also missed expectations on the bottom line. The average analyst following Amarin was looking for a loss of $0.02 per share, but the company reported a much wider loss of $0.08 per share.

    benieuwd wat Denner gaat toevoegen/brengen,bij de Medicines company en Ariad Pharma, btw vanmiddag 14.00 cijfers Amarin.

    bij Ariad 2013 kocht hij 6,8% vd aandelen tegen $3,81/shar in 2017 verkoopt hij Ariad aan Takeda $24/share.
    Med co in 2015 2,6% koopt hij tegen $27,53/share , waarna hij in 2017 MC verkoopt aan Novartis voor $9,7bill
    en zo heeft die nog een paar gouden eieren in zijn korf, gaat Amarin ook tot een Struisvogel ei uitgroeien...
