Dit komt ten goede aan PFE: NOVARTIS Novartis has agreed to expand its fill-and-finish support for the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine by using manufacturing facilities Ljubljana, Slovenia, to fill at least 24 million doses in 2022, the Swiss drugmaker said. This new agreement follows an earlier deal for the fill and finish of more than 50 million doses in 2021 at the Novartis Stein site in Switzerland [NOVN.S]
Semiconductor squeeze forces ABB to shrink sales outlook. koers -5% 30,50 chf Full-year sales guidance growth cut to 6-8% ABB joins other companies in facing chip shortage Tight labour market adds to challenges ABB expects supply chain problems to continue (Recasts, adding CEO comment, share price, analyst) By John Revill ZURICH, Oct 21 (Reuters) - ABB expects the supply chain crunch to continue into next year, the Swiss engineering group said on Thursday, as a shortage of semiconductors made it cut its 2021 sales outlook. The maker of industrial robots and drives is the latest company to warn about shortages reducing its ability to meet demand from customers ramping up output after the pandemic-induced slump in activity. As a result ABB's reported its third quarter sales increasing by 4%, less than half the 10% rate it expected in July. It now expects full-year sales growth of 6% to 8%, slower than previous outlook for a 10% increase. "Semiconductors is the main problem, our products are very digital and they contain a lot of semiconductors not least in machine automation, robotics and electrification," Chief Executive Rosengren told reporters. Power cuts in China, and logistics difficulties such as harbour closures as COVID-19 restrictions returned also made it more difficult for ABB to get the parts it needed, he added. "It has been a struggle which all industries are feeling today, this is not an ABB problem, this is a clear market problem," Rosengren said. "It will take a couple more quarters before we see it better." Companies including Canadian auto parts maker Magna and Sweden's Ericsson have been hit by tight supply chains, while chip scarcity has brought some car assembly lines to a halt. [N2RF0KI] [nL4N2RF1NZ] [nL4N2RG2X8] Swiss elevator and escalator maker Schindler flagged supply-chain problems when it reported results. [nL8N2RH0M1] Another problem was a shortage of skilled labour, particularly in the United States, which was affecting ABB and its customers. [nL1N2RH08L] Still, demand was buoyant, with the company's orders surging 26% while its backlog grew by $2.1 billion to $16 billion. "Demand has gone through the roof, but with the restrictions of movement under COVID that creates a tough labour market to attract good workers," said Rosengren. The company was looking to mitigate the impact by redesigning products to use less scarce chips, sourcing new suppliers and building up its own stocks. ABB shares lost 5.8% in early trading in Switzerland following the more muted outlook, and the third quarter sales of $7.03 billion that missed forecasts. Operational earnings before interest, tax and amortisation rose 32% to $1.06 billion, in line with forecasts, while net profit came in at $652 million, slightly below expectations. The supply squeeze could affect others, analysts said. "The larger than expected negative impact from the supply chain could also impact other companies, including its electrical peers Siemens, Schneider and Legrand," said JP Morgan analyst Andreas Willi.

Dank!

Info mbt @Cna. LONDON, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Britain's energy market faces an absolute massacre that could force at least 20 suppliers into bankruptcy in the next month alone unless the government reviews the energy price cap, Scottish Power Chief Executive Keith Anderson said on Thursday. Natural gas prices have spiked this year as economies reopened from COVID-19 lockdowns and high demand for liquefied natural gas in Asia pushed down supplies to Europe, sending shockwaves through industries reliant on power. Around 13 British suppliers have collapsed in recent months, forcing more than 2 million customers so far to switch providers. Before the crisis, there were more than 50 small- and mid-sized independent energy suppliers in Britain with around a 30% share of the market. "There is a significant risk you could see the market shrink all the way back to five to six companies," Anderson told the Financial Times. Scottish Power, owned by Iberdrola , is Britain's fifth largest energy supplier with around 8% of the domestic gas supply market, according to data from regulator Ofgem. "We expect, probably in the next month, at least another 20 suppliers will end up going bankrupt," Anderson told Sky. "We are now going to start seeing some relatively well-run, good, commercially sound businesses going bankrupt because they just can't pass the cost of the product through to customers." The soaring natural gas prices have strained Britain's retail energy markets to breaking point, putting into question 30 years of energy deregulation which began in 1989 under then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Anderson cast Britain's energy market as facing months of tumult that could shrink the market all the way back to just five or six companies unless the price cap, set by Ofgem, was reviewed. The so-called big six British energy companies - Centrica's British Gas, E.ON , OVO Energy, EDF Energy , Scottish Power and Octopus - control more than three quarters of the domestic gas supply market, Ofgem data shows. The cap limits the cost of energy for millions of people on suppliers' default tariffs. It is reviewed twice a year. Anderson said the regulator Ofgem and the government should look at changing the cap earlier than its next scheduled review in April so suppliers can pass on spikes in their costs sooner.
