    Als westerse mogendheden dit soort partijen hebben gesteund kun je moeilijk stellen dat het Rusland was die de oorlog heeft aangejaagd.

    Het lijkt erop dat Nederland heeft bijgedragen aan de enorme ravage in Syrië.

    Wij kunnen het menselijk leed dat de Syrische bevolking is aangedaan nooit ongedaan maken. Verblijfsvergunningen verlenen is nog wel het minste dat Nederland kan doen.

Ik laat mijn geld zo weinig mogelijk in handen komen van landen, die verkeerde dingen met geld en politiek doen.
    (vervuilingen voorkomen (USA, met Schalie-olie en een vervuilende pijpleiding door indianengebied, Canada met de smerige teerzandenoliewinning, Nederland met de ravage materieel en mentaal door gaswinning in Groningen en omstreken etc.)

    Overwegend alle vluchtelingen komen uit (islamitische) landen waar een dictator het volk onder de duim heeft gehouden en waar met stevige en strakke hand werd opgetreden.

    Nu zijn met name door hulp vanuit het westen veel van deze dictators verdwenen en heersen er chaos, onrust en (religieuze) oorlogen.

    Dagelijks worden we in het westen geconfronteerd met deze vluchtelingen en worden we geconfronteerd met de opvang van deze vluchtelingen.

    Misschien was het toch verstandiger dat het westen zich hier niet mee bemoeid en zich beter kan afvragen waarom uitgerekend die dictators het wel lukt om de rust in hun land te behouden.

    De dictators daar hebben over het algemeen bestaan bij de gratie van het westen.

    Dat was in het verleden zo, toen bijvoorbeeld de prille democratie in Iran door de Amerikaanse geheime dienst tot vallen werd gebracht ('operation Ajax'), omdat een dictatuur de voorkeur had, en nog steeds.

    Zo heeft de Amerikaanse president bijvoorbeeld niet lang geleden expliciet aangegeven dat het regime in SA niet zonder steun van de VS kan bestaan.

    Het is al weer 5 jaar geleden, dat de ronde deed, de pijpleiding(gas) van Qatar naar Europa. Kan niet voorstellen, dat Poetin dit graag ziet.

    Israel and Morocco have agreed to establish diplomatic relations, US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday.
    Morocco became the fourth Arab country to normalize ties with Israel in four months, following the Abraham Accords with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan.

    “Another historic breakthrough today!” Trump tweeted. “Our two great friends Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations – a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East!”

    Israel and Morocco plan to reopen economic liaison offices, which were closed in 2002, and work quickly to exchange ambassadors and begin direct flights, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

    In addition, Trump announced that he signed a proclamation recognizing Moroccan sovereignty over the Western Sahara, a disputed territory. “Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic autonomy proposal is the ONLY basis for a just and lasting solution for enduring peace and prosperity!” he tweeted.
    “Morocco recognized the United States in 1777. It is thus fitting we recognize their sovereignty over the Western Sahara,” Trump added. No other UN member states recognize Western Sahara as part of Morocco.
    The Trump administration viewed finalizing establishment of ties between the two countries as a prime goal in the past few weeks.
    White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner said normalization “comes on the heels of four years of very, very hard work and very intense diplomacy.”
    The move is the culmination of a successful year of upgrading Israel’s relations with Arab and Muslim countries, beginning with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visiting Chad and meeting Sudan’s leader in Uganda, the Abraham Accords, as well as the warming relations and cooperation with Saudi Arabia, in addition to a number of other Arab states.
    Early this year, as reported in Israeli media, Israel proposed a scenario to the White House similar to what has unfolded, that normalization of relations with Morocco would come in conjunction with American recognition of the Western Sahara.
    French media reported that Morocco purchased three drones from Israel for $48 million in January.
    Like the Gulf states, Morocco views Iran as a threat. Rabat cut ties with Tehran in 2018, because Iran funded Western Sahara separatist movement Polisario via Hezbollah.
    Long before that, Morocco had a relationship with Israeli intelligence agencies. Moroccan King Hassan II gave Israel recordings of an Arab League meeting that helped Israel prepare for the Six Day War in 1967, according to former IDF intelligence chief Shlomo Gazit and the former intelligence officer and cabinet minister Rafi Eitan. That same year, the Mossad helped Morocco abduct a dissident from France.
    Netanyahu, however, focused on the many Israelis of Moroccan origin and not security matters in his remarks on normalization, which he called a “great light of peace” in honor of Hanukkah.
    “Everyone knows the warm ties of the kings of Morocco and the Moroccan people to the Jewish community there,” Netanyahu said. “Hundreds of thousands of Jews moved to Israel from Morocco and they form a living bridge between the people of Morocco and Israel. This solid base is the foundation on which we build this peace.”
    Trump’s proclamation said the US “affirms, as stated by previous Administrations, its support for Morocco’s autonomy proposal as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to the dispute over the Western Sahara territory…An independent Sahrawi State is not a realistic option for resolving the conflict and that genuine autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty is the only feasible solution.”
    “Therefore, as of today, the United States recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over the entire Western Sahara territory.”
    The White House also urged the sides in the Western Sahara conflict to return to the negotiating table under the framework of Morocco’s plan for autonomy for the Sahrawi people of Western Sahara.
    The US plans to open a consulate in Dakhla, in Western Sahara, which the Moroccan Foreign Ministry said would have “a primarily economic vocation.”
    Kushner said recognizing Moroccan sovereignty in the Western Sahara was “something that seemed inevitable at this point; is something that we think advances the region and helps bring more clarity to where things are going.”
    Following the announcement, President Trump spoke with King Mohammed VI of Morocco. According to a readout provided by the White House, “the leaders discussed cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus, ways to minimize its economic impact, and common interests in critical regional issues.”
    “During the conversation the King agreed to resume diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel and expand economic and cultural cooperation to advance regional stability,” the White House said in a statement.
    King Mohammed told Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in a phone call on Thursday that Rabat stands by a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a royal court statement said.
    The king added that negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians are the only way to reach a final, lasting and comprehensive solution to the conflict.
    King Mohammed also highlighted his commitment to a two-state solution, as well as the importance of freedom of worship in Jerusalem, during his conversation with Trump.
    The White House, not Netanyahu, informed Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and Defense Minister Benny Gantz of the developments with Morocco several weeks before they were made public, contrary to the UAE, Bahrain and Sudan deals in which they were told at the last minute.
    Ashkenazi said “today is another great day for Israeli diplomacy, a day of light befitting the holiday of Hanukkah.
    “Renewing relations between Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco is an important part of the Abraham Accords that reflects the deep and longstanding friendship between the nations. I call on more nations to join the Abraham Accords’ circle,” he stated.
    Ashkenazi added that he would like to light Hanukkah candles at the Israeli embassy in Rabat next year.
    Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan invited Morocco’s envoy in Turtle Bay to a Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony.
    Moroccan-born law professor Shimon Shetreet, a minister in the governments of Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres, founding president of the World Union of Sephardi Jews and a declared candidate in the race for 11th president of the State of Israel, was delighted by the announcement, calling it “a great blessing.”
    He anticipated that Israelis of Moroccan background would be happy over this development because “all Moroccan Jews have an emotional attachment to what used to be their homeland.”
    Morocco was open to Israeli visitors before the normalization announcement, and Shetreet has led several delegations to Morocco. If there is a rabbi with the delegation, he recites memorial prayers in Hebrew for the King Hassan II who had been visited by both Rabin and Peres and was on good terms with them.

    Oman and Indonesia could be next in line to establish diplomatic relations with Israel in the coming weeks, a diplomatic source said Sunday.
    The Trump administration is continuing in its efforts to bring more Arab and Muslim countries into the Abraham Accords. The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco have agreed to normalization with Israel.

    After Bhutan agreed to forge ties with Israel outside of the framework of the accords, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday night said Israel is “in touch with additional countries that want to join and establish relations with us.”
    US Vice President Mike Pence plans to visit Israel in January, as first reported by The Jerusalem Post last week, Regional Cooperation Minister Ofir Akunis (Likud) told Army Radio on Sunday.
    While here, Pence may announce that another country will establish relations with Israel, he added.
    The diplomatic source identified Oman and Indonesia as two countries with which talks have advanced and with whom normalization could be announced before US President Donald Trump leaves office on January 20.

    On Friday, Oman welcomed the announcement of ties between Israel and Morocco, expressing hope that they “will further endeavor to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East.”
    Netanyahu visited Oman in 2018 and met with its then-leader, the late Sultan Qaboos. Israel had unofficial trade relations with Oman in 1994-2000, and the countries cooperate in opposing Iranian aggression.
    Israel and Indonesia do not have formal diplomatic relations, but they cooperate in trade and tourism. Indonesia bought arms from Israel in the 1970s and 1980s, and Indonesian soldiers have trained in Israel.
    In 1993, prime minister Yitzhak Rabin met Indonesian president Suharto in Jakarta.

    US President Donald Trump’s announcement of diplomatic relations between Israel and Morocco were met with praise in Jerusalem and across Israel.
    There are about a million Israelis whose family origins are at least party from Morocco, and leading figures have been quoted in the media celebrating the new diplomatic ties, though they already could have traveled to the North African country – and many Israelis have.

    But beyond that emotional connection for many Israelis, and greater exchanges of tourism that comes with the direct flights that were announced along with normalization, there are plenty of other reasons why relations with Morocco will be beneficial to the Jewish state.
    Morocco, which has 36.5 million residents, is considered one of the more influential countries in the Arab world and Africa, and has one of the continent's strongest economies. As such, the latest developments can help convince other countries in the region to forge relations with Israel.
    Israel and Morocco have had secret and open ties at varying times through their histories.
    In the 1960s, Moroccan King Hassan II gave Israel recordings of an Arab League meeting that helped Israel prepare for the Six Day War in 1967, according to former IDF intelligence chief Shlomo Gazit and the former intelligence officer and cabinet minister Rafi Eitan.     More recently, Morocco has viewed Iran as a threat, cutting ties with Tehran in 2018 because it funded the Western Sahara separatist movement Polisario via Hezbollah. As with Gulf States, opposition to Iran carries a lot of potential for cooperation with Israel on defense matters.

    In fact, reports from January of this year indicated that Morocco bought Israeli drones for $48 million.
    Israel and Morocco exchanged liaison offices in 1995, following the Oslo Accords, marking the start of open – though not full – diplomatic relations between the countries. Morocco then cut ties with Israel in 2000, after the Palestinians launched the Second Intifada.
    Limited trade between the countries continued even after ties were cut in 2000, with Israel importing $68m. in Moroccan goods and exporting $5m. to Morocco in 2018, according to the Israel Export Institute, and that is likely to grow with the planned direct flights and the sign of approval from King Mohammad VI in the form of normalizing ties.
    Israel's major exports to Morocco are plastics, as well as machinery and electrical equipment, while Morocco mostly exports vehicles, as well as apparel and accessories to Israel.
    Israeli government sources view energy as a potential source for cooperation between Israel and Morocco, which does not have much energy resources of its own. Morocco has been importing about 90% of its energy since 2013, and seeks to expand its use of renewable energy. Israel exports natural gas and has expertise in solar energy.
    In addition, agriculture makes up about 40% of Morocco's economy and a large part of its exports, and could be interested in Israeli agri-tech innovations.

    Hanukkah celebrations in Dubai last week and the national efforts to support tolerance and coexistence in the United Arab Emirates have created a reality in which Jews are more welcomed and safe in the UAE than in Europe.

    Many friends and contacts I have spoken to say they were surprised by the feeling walking around the Emirates’ most populous city over the last week wearing a kippah, something they would be hesitant to do in many places in Europe.

    Europa is helemaal de weg kwijt.

    Nederland laat zich meeslepen de afgrond in.

    Wat een kansen laten we voorbij gaan, door aan te haken bij landen die niet mee kunnen in plaats van zaken te doen waar zaken te doen zijn.

    Waarom al die ballast meeslepen.

    De meeste Nederlanders zullen zich afgelopen maandag groen en geel hebben geërgerd aan het fluitconcert van demonstranten bij het Torentje, tijdens de lockdown-toespraak van premier Rutte. Hun boodschap was duidelijk: ze zijn het niet eens met de coronamaatregelen van het kabinet en Rutte moet het spreken onmogelijk worden gemaakt.

    Er kwamen reacties op sociale media dat de ME de brandspuit op deze demonstranten had moeten zetten en dat de politie hen had moeten oppakken. De boosheid op de ordeverstoorders is begrijpelijk, maar wat we in die boosheid wel eens vergeten, is hoe waardevol het is dat je in dit land vrijuit en ongestraft je kritiek op de regering mag laten horen – hoe irritant, scherp of bot soms ook. Vrijheid van demonstreren verrijkt het land, net zoals een vrije pers het land verrijkt. In een vrije samenleving zijn journalisten nodig om de macht te controleren. Ze zijn een van de pijlers onder de democratie. En ook hier geldt: je mag het van harte met journalisten oneens zijn.

    ’Corruptie op Aarde’

    Ik kom tot deze inleiding om het contrast te schetsen met hoe het er in mijn vaderland Iran aan toe gaat. Afgelopen zaterdag werd in Teheran een journalist geëxecuteerd. Zijn naam: Roehollah Zam, 47 jaar. Hij werd opgehangen wegens ’corruptie op Aarde’. Volgens Iran heeft hij aangezet tot geweld bij protesten tegen de regering in 2017. Hoe? Door via zijn Telegram-kanaal Amadnews miljoenen Iraniërs te laten meekijken naar de protesten tegen armoede en hoge prijzen. Amadnews was een van de weinige plekken waar dat kon. Er vielen die dag 21 doden en duizenden mensen werden opgepakt.

    Luis in de pels

    Ja, Roehollah Zam was een luis in de pels van de macht en dat horen journalisten ook te zijn. Maar na de protesten kreeg hij het regime achter zich aan. Hij vluchtte naar Frankrijk, waar hij sinds 2017 in ballingschap leefde. Tijdens een zakenbezoek in Irak is hij opgepakt en naar Iran meegenomen en opgehangen. Dit bevestigt maar weer eens dat geen politiek vluchteling veilig is voor de lange arm van Teheran. Ook ik niet, en met mij vele vluchtelingen niet. Frankrijk is verontwaardigd, mensenrechtenorganisaties ook, maar er is meer nodig dan verontwaardiging om dit regime te stoppen en politieke vluchtelingen veiligheid te bieden, zoals is afgesproken in het Verdrag van Genève. Het is hoog tijd dat het Westen, dus ook Nederland, Iran gaat boycotten, zowel economisch als politiek. Zet de Revolutionaire Garde op de terrorismelijst. Voorkom dat Iran weer terug kan naar die nucleaire deal die de ayatollahs toch niet respecteerden en waarin geen aandacht is voor terrorisme, lange-afstandraketten en mensenrechtenschendingen.

    Opstaan

    Voor journalisten in het Westen zou de staatsmoord op Zam reden moeten zijn om gezamenlijk op te staan tegen Iran. Er is een vakbroeder opgehangen, maar het blijft erg stil. Om dat onder de aandacht te brengen, hebben we ons met een groep vluchtelingen verenigd in United for Zam. Want de jacht op tegenstanders van het regime zal niet stoppen. We weten dat Iraniërs die voor de inlichtingendiensten werkten of werken, nu in het Westen proberen politiek asiel aan te vragen met het verhaal dat ze zich hebben bekeerd tot het christendom en daarom op de vlucht zijn. Het is levensgevaarlijk als daar niet op wordt ingegrepen. Want de lange arm strekt hier tot in de straat.
