    3D Printed Steel Footbridge Unveiled in Amsterdam

    A 3D printed steel pedestrian bridge has been unveiled in Amsterdam’s Red Light District. Crossing the Dutch capital’s Oudezijds Achterburgwal canal, the 12-metre-long structure has been four years in the making and was developed by engineers at Imperial College London in partnership with Dutch company MX3D. To get from the conceptual stage to the installed footbridge, the Steel Structures group at Imperial conducted the underpinning research and validation, including testing destructive forces on printed elements, advanced digital twin computer simulations, non-destructive real world testing on the footbridge and the development of an advanced sensor network to monitor the bridge’s behaviour over its life.

    According to Imperial, the bridge will act as a ‘living laboratory’ in Amsterdam’s city centre. Using its vast network of installed sensors, the Steel Structures team will measure, monitor and analyse the performance of the novel structure as it handles pedestrian traffic. The data from the sensors will be put into a 'digital twin' of the bridge - a computerised version which will imitate the physical bridge with growing accuracy in real time as sensor data come in. The performance and behaviour of the physical bridge will be tested against the twin, which will help answer questions about the long-term behaviour of 3D-printed steel, as well as its use in real world settings and in future novel construction projects.

    Data captured from the bridge will be made available to other researchers worldwide who are interested in contributing to the study.

    First 3D Printed House Opens in Beckum in Germany

    Germany's first printed house is ready for occupancy. The single-family house printed by PERI using a COBOD BOD2 printer was officially opened in Beckum, North Rhine-Westphalia. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia subsidized the project as part of its "Innovative Building" funding program.

    The building was planned by MENSE-KORTE ingenieure+architekten.

    Printing started in Beckum on September 17, 2020, and the PERI 3D Construction Printing Team used a COBOD BOD2 concrete printer for the printing. This printing technology comes from the Danish manufacturer COBOD. PERI acquired a stake in COBOD back in 2018. As printing material, PERI used the printing mortar "i.tech 3D" from HeidelbergCement, the mixing technology came from m-tec mathis technik gmbh. The engineering office Schießl Gehlen Sodeikat provided support in the preparation of the approval. The planning and execution of the corresponding approval tests were carried out by the Centrum Baustoffe München of the Technical University of Munich.

    Chinees ruimtebedrijf laat relatief kleine raket opstijgen en landen

    Het commerciële ruimtebedrijf Deep Blue Aerospace heeft eind vorige maand een kleine raket kort na het opstijgen weer laten landen op een testterrein in China. Dat blijkt uit een video die het bedrijf maandag op sociale media heeft gedeeld.

    Deep Blue Aerospace beschrijft de testvlucht als "de sprong van een sprinkhaan". De Nebula M-1-raket van het bedrijf werd naar een hoogte van bijna 10 meter gebracht en landde na enkele seconden weer op vrijwel dezelfde plek.

    De sprong lijkt een verwijzing naar het bedrijf SpaceX, dat zijn prototype Grasshopper (sprinkhaan) noemde. Ook SpaceX liet aanvankelijk raketten dit soort kleine sprongen maken voor de daadwerkelijke missie.

    De raket van Deep Blue Aerospace is met 7,3 meter een stuk minder lang dan de Grasshopper van SpaceX, die een lengte van 30 meter had.

    Het Chinese bedrijf wil raketten ontwikkelen om kleine satellieten in een lage baan rond de aarde te brengen. Daarna moeten ze weer landen, zodat ze hergebruikt kunnen worden. Dat drukt de kosten van lanceringen enorm. Het bedrijf maakt voor zijn raket gebruik van een ge-3D-printe raketmotor.

    Access to 3D Printed Steel Bridge Amsterdam Difficult for Elderly

    NL Times reported that stepping onto the bridge can be dangerous for the elderly and people with disabilities on iconic 3D printed bridge on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal in Amsterdam but. On one side of the sculpted piece, two large steps marked with yellow paint lead up to the bridge. Without a ramp or railing, accessing the bridge is difficult, or impossible, for anyone in a wheelchair or who otherwise has trouble walking. It regularly happens that someone requires assistance stepping off of the bridge

    A spokesperson of the city district said “Originally, the plan was to build a small ramp to make the bridge wheelchair accessible, but that was taking longer than expected. In the meantime, we tried to make the situation apparent with yellow paint and a sign, and hope that was enough.”

    The bridge, designed by Joris Laarman, was opened on July 15 by Queen Máxima. It weighs around six tons and will remain on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal for two years. The design of the bridge was shown during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven in 2018 where it won the Dutch Design award and also an audience award.

    Staal maken met biokolen. Tata steel moet zich nog inlezen denk ik zo want die zijn alleen maar bezig met het opslaan van CO2.

    perpetualnext.com heeft de technologie in huis. Andere speler is VGM.OL (voortgekomen uit VOW.OL).Iemand een visie op biokolen?

    Is dit ook een markt van PYR?

    Uit het oogpunt van circulaire landbouw en duurzame bosbouw is er geen vorm van “biokool” op dit moment duurzaam te noemen (biochar).
    Biochar wordt gemaakt van organische reststoffen, 90% komt van bomen, hout delen.
    In deze massa is carbon en veel voedingsstoffen opgeslagen.
    Wanneer deze massa in de bodem komt is het een verrijker / bemester van de bodem waar weer gewassen en bomen op kunnen groeien.
    Wanneer deze massa niet in de bodem terug komt wordt de bodem verarmd / minder vruchtbaar, en op den duur onvruchtbaar.
    Andersom geredeneerd:
    De energiewaarde van biochar is koolstof die uit de bodem onttrokken is, en bij verbranding wordt die in de atmosfeer gebracht.

    Vandaag of ergens volgende week kwartaalcijfers van PYR heb ik begrepen. Die kunnen weleens een trigger kunnen zijn voor shorters om hun algoritmes weer even te activeren. Zou PP hierop hebben geanticipeerd met die vreemde verkoop t/m 6 augustus en gaat hij nu aan de koopzijde opereren? Zou wel een verklaring zijn voor die verkoop.
