    Dat ging om de omzet die met USD 180 miljoen naar beneden bijgesteld moest worden. Bij groeibedrijven wordt veelal gekeken naar omzet en eventueel de huidige winst. Maar verderop in het artikel lees ik dat ook nog steeds, sinds 2018, een zaak loopt i.v.m. vermeende verplichtingen ter hoogte van USD 2 miljard voor het onderhoud van bestaande installaties.

    In het artikel zie ik verder geen details, maar in deze business wordt vaak gewerkt met Power Purchase Agreements. Daarmee verkoopt het "waterstofbedrijf" niet de installatie, maar de schone energie die eruit komt. Het onderhoud van de installatie is daarmee voor rekening en risico van de verkoper, in dit geval het "waterstofbedrijf". Je kunt het zien als een vorm van leasing.

    Het bedrijfsmodel van Plug Power is ook grotendeels hierop gebaseerd. In mijn optiek is Plug Power, naast waterstofspecialist, dan ook een leasebedrijf en energieleverancier. Dat hoeft niet verkeerd te zijn, zolang je er maar bewust van bent.

    Hindenburg staat overigens bekend als short seller, dan heb je op zich de schijn tegen dat het je om waarheidsvinding te doen is. Maar ik vind die verplichtingen toch wel wat tricky en tegelijk moeilijk om de vinger achter te krijgen, omdat ik daarvoor de kennis van de business ontbeer.

    Met andere woorden, je moet opletten dat men niet begint als een startup en binnen enkele jaren eindigt met de kapitaalbehoefte van een nutsbedrijf.

Hydrogen Optimized has ambitions to use its high current water electrolysis technology at scale to produce green hydrogen for emerging clean applications across industries, including chemical, utility and transportation. ABB’s hydrogen research team will explore electrical power supply optimization through projects involving ABB high power rectifier (HPR) systems. Together, the companies plan to prove that Hydrogen Optimized’s RuggedCell water electrolysis technology can be used to develop an integrated product solution based on a 100MW single module plant design concept.

    ABB is a leading worldwide supplier of high power rectifiers for any industrial application, providing maximum availability, highest productivity and with a high priority on personnel safety. Within its HPR range, rectifier systems provide DC current in the range of 5,000A to 550,000A, as single or multiple units and as such can provide nearly unlimited current and voltage combinations and meet most plant specific requirements.

    The MoU signed by the companies formalizes the agreement to explore the implementation of a demonstration system as well as the preparation of a 100MW plant design and commercialization strategies.

    Applications using green hydrogen include zero emission transportation fuel supply, ammonia and other chemical production with non-fossil sources of hydrogen, and green metal production with hydrogen instead of a coking-type process.

    Waar zou dat aan liggen? Je ziet ook in de andere technologie aandelen dat het even een dipje heeft. Zal het daarmee samenhangen? Of heeft het specifiekere oorzaken?

    Je zou toch denken dat de speculatie op waterstof positief wordt beïnvloed. Bijna dagelijks nieuwe mooie geluiden over strategieën, investeringen en projecten. Hopelijk worden deze berichten steeds concreter :)

    ENGIE & ArianeGroup to Develop Renewable Liquid Hydrogen

    ENGIE and ArianeGroup have just announced the signing of a cooperation agreement in the field of renewable liquid hydrogen to speed up the decarbonisation of heavy-duty and long-distance transportation. Renewable liquid hydrogen is a zero-emissions alternative to fossil fuels and an answer to the specific storage and endurance requirements of sectors such as maritime and rail transport and aviation.

    ENGIE and ArianeGroup will therefore leverage their expertise and cutting-edge technologies in hydrogen to develop and test optimised liquefaction technology with the development of a hydrogen liquefier at ArianeGroup's industrial facility in Vernon in France then develop a range of products and services on the liquid hydrogen line, primarily for maritime and inland waterway applications

    For more than forty years, ArianeGroup has been developing expertise in liquid hydrogen-based propulsion systems and related ground facilities. It employs over a thousand staff in France and Germany who work daily on hydrogen technologies. ArianeGroup also operates Europe's largest hydrogen test centre at its facility in Vernon, France.

    Snam & Saipem sign MoU for Hydrogen Development & CO2 Capture

    Snam and Saipem have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to start working together on new energy transition technologies, from green hydrogen to capturing and reusing CO2, with the aim of fighting climate change and contributing to the launch of the hydrogen market, supporting the European Commission’s Hydrogen Strategy. The aim of this agreement, signed by Marco Alverà, CEO of Snam, and Stefano Cao, CEO of Saipem, is to jointly define and develop initiatives for green hydrogen production and transport, and for carbon dioxide capture, transport and reuse or storage CCS and CCU.

    Snam and Saipem have already started working together, focusing in particular on developing the technology of water electrolysis, a process that makes it possible to reduce CO2 emissions to zero in the production of green hydrogen, thus effectively fighting global warming.

    This agreement also involves a collaborative effort to develop feasibility studies in order to find new solutions to transport hydrogen in both liquid and gaseous form, by using and adapting existing infrastructure and networks as well as by shipping it by vessel, and to capture, transport, store or enhance CO2.

    With this Memorandum of Understanding, Saipem and Snam also explore the possibility of participating in EU-funded technological innovation projects.
