GKN Aerospace & IAAPS to Develop Hydrogen Propulsion for Aviation Strategic Research Institute Published on : 12 Dec, 2022, 3:50 am Leading global multi-technology tier 1 supplier GKN Aerospace and advanced propulsion R&I centre IAAPS have announced a strategic partnership to develop and validate novel hydrogen technology solutions for the decarbonisation of the aviation industry. IAAPS will support GKN Aerospace’s ground-breaking H2GEAR Programme to develop a megawatt scale cryogenic electric drive system using PEM fuel cells. IAAPS will deliver key aspects of the comprehensive testing and validation programme at its new R&I centre with both green H2 production and liquid H2 storage facility. The multi-year, multi-million-pound project will encompass both component and system level testing of hybrid hydrogen and electric architecture and drive forward investment in infrastructure for the delivery of gaseous and liquid hydrogen and development of cryogenic cooling systems. H2GEAR is a GKN Aerospace led, pioneering UK collaboration initiative with the aim to develop a liquid hydrogen propulsion system for sub-regional aircraft that could be scaled up to larger aircraft. Liquid hydrogen is being converted to electricity within a fuel cell system. A cryogenic cooling network will be used to maximise the performance of the power distribution network and electrical machine. This electricity efficiently powers the aircraft, eliminating carbon emissions and creating a new generation of clean air travel. The H2GEAR programme is supported by GBP 27 million of ATI funding, matched by GKN Aerospace and its industrial partners.

Voltalia & TAQA Arabia to Develop Hydrogen Production in Egypt Strategic Research Institute Published on : 13 Dec, 2022, 3:50 am Voltalia and TAQA Arabia have signed a MOU with the Government of Egypt, to develop, finance and operate a cluster combining green hydrogen production with solar and wind power generation. The initial project will include a new green hydrogen production facility with a capacity of 15,000 tonnes per year, in a greenfield site near Ain Sokhna port in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, through a 100-megawatt electrolyser supplied with 283 megawatts of renewable power. The project will be expanded to 150,000 tonnes per year of green hydrogen with an electrolyser capacity of up to an aggregate of 1 gigawatt supplied by an aggregate of 2.7 gigawatts of solar and wind power. The land required by the cluster will be provided by the Egyptian government.
EnBW Chooses Stade for LNG & H2 Imports at Hanseatic Energy Hub Strategic Research Institute Published on : 13 Dec, 2022, 3:51 am EnBW will import three billion cubic meters of LNG per year via the Hanseatic Energy Hub in Stade beginning with commissioning. The capacities were booked bindingly in the past few days as part of a sales process and will make a significant contribution to Germany's security of supply with affordable energy. In addition, EnBW will have the option to move to ammonia as a hydrogen-based energy source at a later date. This possibility is open to all Hanseatic Energy Hub customers with a long-term contract of more than 10 years. The Hanseatic Energy Hub is a future-flexible modular system for the green energy transition that utilizes the diverse opportunities of the Stade energy region. The terminal, port, industrial park and connecting infrastructure are designed so that a conversion can take place in a modular way. Main tanks, pipelines and other immovable parts will be commissioned ammonia-ready. The foundations are already structurally designed to support a higher load. Additional space has also been reserved in the industrial park for separate ammonia tanks to support the market ramp-up from the outset. Both EnBW and HEH are focusing on ammonia as a carrier for hydrogen, since its handling, transport and storage have been proven over many years. Ammonia is one of the most widely produced chemicals in the world and has many different applications. After transport, it can be reconverted to hydrogen or used directly as a CO2-neutral fuel. Corresponding technologies are making rapid progress. Co-combustion of up to 20 % ammonia has already been successfully implemented in smaller power plants and furnaces.

Hexagon Purus Maritime’s hydrogen fuel storage system with type 4 hydrogen cylinders will be used for fuel storage onboard a zero-emission working boat for the aquaculture industry in Norway. Already a development partner in Moen Marin’s “Pilot-E” zero-emission working boat program, Hexagon Purus Maritime will continue working on the development and testing, with final system delivery scheduled by the end of 2023. The value of the order is approximately EUR 200,000. Hexagon Purus combines maritime experience with extensive hydrogen storage expertise to provide a holistic approach to zero emission maritime solutions. Hexagon Purus is at the forefront of developing innovative hydrogen storage solutions with lightweight composite cylinders that are ideal for maritime applications.
Air Products & AES to Build Hydrogen Production Facility in Texas Strategic Research Institute Published on : 13 Dec, 2022, 3:53 am Air Products & AES Corporation have announced plans to invest approximately USD 4 billion to build, own and operate a green hydrogen production facility in Wilbarger County, Texas. This mega-scale renewable power to hydrogen project includes approximately 1.4 gigawatts of wind and solar power generation, along with electrolyzer capacity capable of producing over 200 metric tons per day of green hydrogen, making it the largest green hydrogen facility in the United States. The new facility will be, by far, the largest green hydrogen facility in the US to use wind and sun as energy sources. The facility, which is targeted to begin commercial operations in 2027, will serve growing demand for zero-carbon intensity fuels for the mobility market as well as other industrial markets. It will yield a totally clean source of energy on a massive scale, and, if all the green hydrogen were used in the heavy-duty truck market, it would eliminate more than 1.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually when compared to diesel use in heavy-duty trucks. Over the project lifetime, it is expected to avoid more than 50 million metric tons of CO2, the equivalent of avoiding emissions from nearly five billion gallons of diesel fuel. Air Products and AES will jointly and equally own the renewable energy and electrolyzer assets, with Air Products serving as the exclusive off-taker and marketer of the green hydrogen under a 30-year contract.
H2U Technologies Shows Iridium-Free PEM Electrolyzer for Hydrogen Strategic Research Institute Published on : 13 Dec, 2022, 3:54 am In its strategic effort to reduce the costs of Proton Exchange Membrane electrolyzers, H2U Technologies has demonstrated electrolyzer stacks that replace expensive and scarce iridium catalysts with inexpensive and abundant catalyst materials. H2U's PEM electrolyzer stacks leverage readily available catalyst materials to enable cost-effective green hydrogen generation. The development of alternative catalysts is significant as highly constrained sources of costly platinum group metal materials, such as iridium, a mainstay electrolyzer catalyst, will lead to supply chain shortages and price increases. With this successful demonstration, H2U is on track to ship its first proof-of-concept electrolyzer systems in 2023. Customers looking to advance their green hydrogen projects will be able to view several operational, iridium-free, multi-kilowatt electrolyzer stacks at H2U's lab facilities in Chatsworth, Calif. Guests will also be able to tour H2U's Catalyst The catalysts used in the new electrolyzer stack are optimized with H2U's CDE originally developed by Caltech. The data-driven CDE rapid-screening process allows scientists to make, characterize, and quantify the catalytic activity of thousands of material compositions per week – faster than any other screening process available. The H2U scientists then explore multiple options to get the ideal materials into the electrolyzer using their expertise in catalyst coatings, binders, and deposition methods. The materials used in the demo stack have separately been evaluated and verified through independent third-party testing.

With expertise in energy, infrastructure and transportation, the Essen-based energy company and the U.S. hydrogen pioneer have set themselves the goal of making the use of hydrogen competitive in this industry segment and bringing it to market as early as 2024. The partnership is intended to offer customers an integrated mobility solution - from the supply of green hydrogen to the establishment of a demand-based fueling station infrastructure and the provision of hydrogen-powered fuel cell trucks. Several companies are already interested in this solution, and others are currently being sought. This product will be utilized for several demonstrations and commercial applications including programs with both the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the US Military and State Energy Commissions. EODev Launches a New Range of Hydrogen Power Generators Strategic Research Institute Published on : 14 Dec, 2022, 3:52 am After less than three years in business and close to 110kVA 100 GEH2 and onboard 70kW REXH2 electro-hydrogen power generators sold across the world, French manufacturer EODev announces the commercialization of new products from 10kVA to 1,750kVA. The first models will enter production in 2024 and will be available for order from mid-2023. EODev's assembly line near Paris already delivers one 110kVA GEH2 per day. The objective being to avoid the emission of 30 million tons of CO2 over the next 10 years, EODev now initiates the second phase of its product development by expanding its range to offer new high power "plug & play" solutions for existing customers, such as equipment rental leaders Loxam and United Rentals, and for new markets with high power back up or fast EV charging in mind. On land: The new high power GEH2 modules come in three complementary models: a 350kVA 20' container version and two 1,050kVA 40' container versions – an air cooled system of 1050kVA and a water cooled one of 1750kVA – especially developed for highly sensitive applications such as industrial and airport facilities, hospitals, water treatment plants, data centers, or for peaking power plants; but also for events and construction sites where demand is already strong for the new 350kVA GEH2. This range is completed by a 20' container 280kW version specifically designed for EV charging, and a modular 10kVA "Mini" GEH2® to meet the needs of the telecoms industry and residential market. Dynapower to Support World's Largest Hydrogen Storage Project Strategic Research Institute Published on : 14 Dec, 2022, 3:53 am Sensata Technologie's power conversion and energy storage solutions leader Dynapower has been selected to provide 220 megawatts of IGBT chopper rectifiers to the Advanced Clean Energy Storage hub powering the production of green hydrogen to accelerate the decarbonization of the Western United States. Located in Delta in Utah, the Advanced Clean Energy Storage hub will be the world's largest renewable energy storage facility. The hub will capture excess wind and solar energy and with the help of Dynapower's power conversion systems convert it to green hydrogen using electrolysis and store it in underground salt caverns. The first two caverns at the hub will store up to 300-gigawatt hours of dispatchable clean energy and feed it back to the grid when it's most needed. Dynapower's high-power, highly reliable IGBT chopper technology was chosen for this project due to several key advantages, including a high power factor across the input range, compliance with IEEE 519 grid harmonics, a simplified and lower-cost transformer design, low DC ripple, and a rapid response to changes in power generation.
Alstom & Air Products to Lunch Hydrogen Trains in Czech Republic Strategic Research Institute Published on : 14 Dec, 2022, 3:54 am Global leader in smart and sustainable mobility Alstom and world's largest hydrogen producer and supplier Air Products have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the deployment of hydrogen solutions in rail, including the necessary infrastructure in the Czech Republic. The agreement supports the fulfillment of goals set by the European Green Deal, in particular the ‘Fit for 55’ package. By signing this memorandum, Alstom has confirmed long-term cooperation with Air Products. Both parties will do everything in their power to accelerate the introduction of hydrogen in rail in the Czech Republic. Alstom is a pioneer in hydrogen rail mobility solutions and has much to offer in this area, from expertise to the trains themselves. With Air Products, we can also supply the necessary fuelling stations and build the hydrogen infrastructure in the country. Alstom was the first company in the world to put a hydrogen passenger train into service in 2018 in Germany. Since then, it has been tested in Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden and Poland, and purchased by France and Italy. Alstom presented the hydrogen train in the Czech Republic and Slovakia during its Railshowwhich occurred on 17-25 May 2022.

Meestal zijn de resultaten / uitkomsten van dit soort rapporten en audits reeds volledig bekend bij de interne klanten specialisten, waar zoals gebruikelijk door de Top Managers van bedrijven vaak bewust niet naar geluisterd wordt. Top Management gebruikt dit soort kostbare Audits en kostbare Analyse Rapporten om hun visie op de voortgang van het betreffende bedrijf door te drukken, enzv., om dus gewoon hun Zin en Visie door te drukken.En met zekerheid is de Duitse Regering met de hulp van de zeer kostbare Audits / Analyse Rapporten via het Fraunhofer Instituut uit Berlijn hun groene Visie van de Duitse kostbare gesubsidieerde Groene Energie Transitie via Windmolens - Elektrolyzers (Power to Gas) / Zonnepanelen / H2 en Batterijen aan het doordrukken, zelfs als ze zelf weten, dat dit de grootste niet te verwezenlijken kostbare zinloze MISKLEUN van de 21ste Eeuw zal blijken te zijn rond 2050, één rampzalige kostbare geld en energie en grondstoffen verspillende MISKLEUN, die alle Burgers van Duitsland en van heel de EU sterk zal verarmen en wellicht zelfs van de honger en de kou zal doen sterven. Ter informatie: voor mijn vele CEO`s / Directeuren heb ik zeer vele Audits / Analyse Rapporten van vele beroemde firma`s zoals Roland Berger, Mac Kinsey, Zwitserse Kanton Overheden, Frauenhofer Instituut, Banken, enzv. moeten voorbereiden, uitleg en informatie en budgetten en Powerpoints voorbereiden voor deze audits, enzv. Het klinkt wellicht arrogant, echter in mijn enthousiasme voor verbeteringen, voor goede vernieuwingen, was ik het meest open gemotiveerde boek, waar allen graag hun wijsheid en analyses konden halen over de processen en bedrijfsvoering / budgetten/enzv. en wat vervolgens na 3 maanden rapporten schrijven in hun zeer dure rapporten werd opgeschreven, vaak een vrij complete herhaling van mijn te enthousiaste woorden en analyses. Dit heeft me nooit, niet een seconde gestoord, ik was meestal tevreden met wat er op papier stond en verder wat management met deze Rapporten doet, meestal niets en ze verdwijnen in de onderste bureaula, net als bij onze Overheid, die ook nooit leert van haar fouten na onderzoekingen. Dus er verandert meestal niets, 90 % van de tijd, het is gewoon kostbare Bezigheids Therapie! En met zekerheid zal dit ook zo zijn met zeer vele rapporten van het Fraunhofer Instituut in Berlijn, dit verdwijnt met zekerheid gewoon in de onderste bureaula van het Ministerie Van Binnenlandse Zaken van Federaal Duitsland.Overigens H2 productie via windmolens en electrolysers voor energieproductie / opslag wordt met zekerheid de grootste Miskleun van Duitsland / Nederland / de EU en zeker ook van SHELL. Ik neem aan, dat SHELL gezond wiskundig / chemisch verstand heeft en dit is voor hun slechts een gesubsidieerde marketing stunt voor de Bühne, om politici en groenen te bevredigen. Overigens H2 voor energie productie met lucht (78 % N2) levert bij hun verbranding`s vlampunt temperaturen, 2.5X à 3X zoveel NOX uitstoot "dus HNO3 salpeterzuur uitstoot" op als b.v. Aardgas, is dus conform puur en alleen Nederlandse Wetgeving een natuur en grondvervuiler/vernietiger. Ik lach om al deze onverstandige dwaze niet doordachte onzin! M.v.g. Ronald

Nikola en Plug werken samen waterstofeconomie Plug koopt vrachtwagens en Nikola een waterstofsysteem. (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Autofabrikant Nikola en waterstofspecialist Plug Power gaan samenwerken om de waterstofeconomie een impuls te geven. Dat maakten de Amerikaanse bedrijven donderdagmiddag bekend. Plug zal in de komende drie jaar tot 75 elektrische vrachtwagens van Nikola bestellen, die hun elektriciteit halen uit brandstofcellen met waterstof. Deze trucks kunnen dan groene waterstof gaan leveren aan klanten in Noord-Amerika, die naar een CO2-vrij energiesysteem willen overstappen. Feasibility Study Starts for Ammonia Cracker at Port of Rotterdam Strategic Research Institute Published on : 15 Dec, 2022, 3:50 am An initiative of 18 companies, led by the Port of Rotterdam Authority, has kicked off a study into the possible establishment of a large-scale ammonia cracker, which will enable imports of 1 million tonnes of hydrogen per year for the decarbonization of industry and mobility. The participants have commissioned Fluor to study possibilities for a large central cracking facility in the port area to convert imported ammonia back into 1 million tonnes of hydrogen per year. The hydrogen can then be used in the port or transported onwards via pipelines to facilitate decarbonization of other industrial clusters in North-West Europe. As a general rule, one million tonnes of green hydrogen can facilitate approximately 10 million tonnes of CO2-reductions. In addition to the Port of Rotterdam Authority, the initiative also includes Air Liquide, Aramco, bp, Essent, E.ON, ExxonMobil, Gasunie, GES, HES international, Koole Terminals, Lnde, OCI, RWE, Shell, Sasol, Uniper, Vopak, and VTTI. The pre-feasibility study will look into the technical, economical, environmental and safety requirements of a large cracking facility. First results of the study are expected early 2023.

The Energia Advisory Group has also been launched to harness inputs and collaboration from partner airlines.
Centrica & Ryze to Develop Hydrogen Pathway in UK Strategic Research Institute Published on : 15 Dec, 2022, 3:52 am Centrica and Ryze Hydrogen are set to jointly build and operate hydrogen production facilities aimed at providing a reliable supply of hydrogen for industry and transportation. Under the landmark agreement the firms will jointly develop hydrogen production projects on existing Centrica sites and work with third-parties to build production on their sites too. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed and will combine expertise in order to kickstart the development of the UK hydrogen economy, targeting the mobility, industrial and commercial markets. In addition, the partnership will explore how the UK can work with international hydrogen production facilities to move low-cost renewable power converted to hydrogen and hydrogen derivates to areas of high demand. Among the initial projects under consideration, Centrica and Ryze will examine solutions for converting some of the British Gas fleet to hydrogen, including refuelling infrastructure, locations and van technology. In addition, as one of the UK’s leading providers of combined heat and power systems, Centrica Business Solutions will work with Ryze to offer hydrogen as an alternative fuel for customers wishing to decarbonise on-site generation.
Metacon & GIC Ink Pact for Hydrogen Project in Romania Strategic Research Institute Published on : 15 Dec, 2022, 3:53 am Metacon has entered into a Master Supply Agreement with Ground Investment Corp in Romania for a 10 MW containerised hydrogen generation plant. The agreement covers the supply of an integrated hydrogen system consisting of an electrolysis-based hydrogen production unit, a hydrogen compression and storage unit, a fuel-cell unit as well as an integrated hydrogen refuelling station. Project start and order is pending an EU grant decision for GIC. With this hydrogen generation plant of a total capacity of 10 MW, hydrogen production capacity equivalent to 4.3 tons per day, GIC aims at initially producing approximately 1.3 tons per day of renewable green hydrogen using renewable energy from a 30 MW wind-power plant for various purposes. Such purposes are to be able to balance the total energy production of the wind-power system, to refuel Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicles and to supply compressed green hydrogen to third parties. The contract will be executed in two phases, Phase I and Phase II. Phase I consists of preparatory work such as project engineering, technical drawings, foundations drawings, etc. and will commence immediately after receiving notice of commencement from GIC. Phase II consists of delivery and installation works according to the agreed contract and includes a 10 MW electrolyser, a 1656 Nm3/h medium-pressure hydrogen compressor for approximately 4,6 tons of compressed hydrogen storage, a 1 MW Fuel-cell and a hydrogen refuelling station of min 300 kg/day fuelling capacity at 350 bars.
