Slot Amsterdam € 14,96 + € 0,91/ + 6,5%, Slot NY $ 20,41, is + US$ 1,27, omgerekend € 14,97 (vorige week € 14,00/ $ 19,14).
Nice to break up over that 14.50 euro mark. There is not much resistance between here and 16 euro. Compression of price and revenues occurring over the past 4 years. 37 million in revenues in 2005, 358 million euro in 2009, almost a 10 fold increase. This while the price has compressed from 21 euro in March 2006 to 14.50 euro in March 2010. That is a Price/revenue multiple of going from 1.76 in 2006,to a Price, revenue multiple of 24. A compression of 15 times. This is not uncommon when a stock is going from a company based on potential, to one based on earnings....which Crucell now is. Unfortunately, the potential of Crucell is now completely discounted...TB and Malaria and everything else are a decade away. And the licensees are still in the early stages...all the late stage ones seem stuck in the mud, from Ark, to Transgene, to Sanofi FluCell. There have been some in the news lately...that seem to be moving forward nicely...most notably MorphoSys. Frustrating to hear news that some things seem to be proceeding, but nothing moving ahead from pre-clinic to clinic, phase I to Phase II, such as Patrys and Talecris, Okairos, and ProFibrix. What is Crucell going this year? I am hopeful since 14 euro held. What was said to the analysts over drinks after the last CC? We don't know. If a breakdown on revenues...from Crucell's perspective was given, then analysts may have advised their clients "We are going to downgrade and lower estimates...after we do, start collecting" If the "roughly in line" with 2009 revenue estimates for 2010 did not contain milestones or another Quinvaxem contract, then those would cause the revenues to jump significantly when announced. Did Crucell learn the lesson, that to move thestock price you need to have some upside guidance during the year...not issue the statement "Crucell maintains guidance...." following every announcement or earnings announcement. Or has Crucell baked into the cake a slew of announcements that will have no impact on projected revenues when they are completed...this is what they have done in the past. Here's hoping Crucell is ready to move into a new phase of price expansion. OSIP has a buy-out price of around 40 euros ($56) on $1.54 earnings in 2010. Prior to the buy-out, it still had a price of $38 dollars. It had revenues of $428 million, compared to $500 million in revenues for Crucell. Crucell has commented on revenues and operating income, but not on earnings. Tony Campbell seemed most interested in this. Perhaps, since Crucel is being judged mostly on earnings, this is where the price expansion could come from, and this is what was discussed over cocktails. Time will tell. Still time for Brus to go.

Again, the most positive thing so far is the fact that after the disastrous 3Q and the "roughly in line" comment from the 4Q that the stock is now above the post 3Q earnings high. From a TA perspective, the weekly sto is about to cross over (if positive this week, then it will), this has always been a very good indicator for Crucell...as it tends to get above or below and stay there for 6 months or so...dropped below in August of last year and has been flirting with crossing over and has been turned back. I would guess it might get turned back this time too, but again, it held 14 euro, and is now above the 3Q post earnings high of 13.74 euro.

"We are very excited to welcome Jerry to our management team and I look forward to working with him closely. His immense experience within the vaccine industry will enable Crucell to make another leap forward to further improve our product development capabilities. In addition I expect Jerry's appointment to improve the speed to market of our pipeline products", said Cees de Jong, COO Crucell. The appointment of Dr. Sadoff follows the decision made by Crucell management in 2009, to establish a Product Development Group (PDG) at Crucell - a logical next step toward the Company's evolution into a truly leading and fully integrated biopharmaceutical company by strengthening Crucell's product development capabilities. Dr. Sadoff will, starting April 1st, head the PDG, which consists of the following departments: Process Development; Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, including Pharmacovigilance; Regulatory Affairs, and Program Management. The Process Development department is headed by Mr. Alain Pralong. Mr. Pralong joined Crucell in 2008 as Vice President of the Process Development department. In these positions Mr. Pralong was able to broaden his leadership experience in process development and manufacturing both up and down stream. Mr. Pralong is based in Leiden. To head the Clinical Development and Medical Affairs department, Mrs. Dr. Marie Paule Richard has been appointed in the role of Vice President Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, effective April 1st, 2010. Then he was in charge of Process Development at Biocine where he developed the genetically detoxified acellular pertussis vaccine. Then he was promoted as head of operations and quality and in 1995 he held the position of Global Head of Regulatory Affairs in Chiron, Novartis Vaccine and Diagnostics and then in Crucell as of April 1st, 2008. Previously Mr Nencioni was responsible ad interim for the Clinical Development and Medical Affairs department. Crucell's Regulatory Affairs department has recently been restructured to bring the department more in line with Crucell's franchise and value stream based organization. This new organization is located in Bern. As head of the Program Management department, Mr. Kevin Jack was appointed in the role of Vice President Program Management, effective January 1st, 2010. Mr. Jack has extensive experience in Project Management, and previously held the position of Project Director New Product Introduction at Centocor (a Johnson & Johnson company). Mr. Jack has more than 20 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Mr. Jack is based in Leiden.
Dit geeft de burger moed. Prima zet van Cees e.a.
