    Crucell Doubles Production of Quinvaxem® in 2008 and Prepares Move to New Korean Production Site to Facilitate Growth



    Leiden, The Netherlands, 21 October 2008 - Dutch biopharma company Crucell N.V. (Euronext, Nasdaq: CRXL; Swiss Exchange: CRX) today announced that an agreement was reached to relocate Crucell's Korean production facility, where its pentavalent children's vaccine Quinvaxem® and a hepatitis B vaccine Hepavax-Gene® are produced, from the Shingal site in Yongin City, Korea to the Incheon Free Economic Zone.

    All parties involved have agreed on the time line and conditions of this relocation, enabling a smooth transition to the new production facility. With engineering well underway, construction activities at the new site are due to start soon. The new facility will enable the further growth and efficient production of Quinvaxem® and Hepavax-Gene®. No further details were provided.

    "We are pleased that we were able to settle all litigation around our production facility amicably, on terms beneficiary to all parties. Production of Quinvaxem® at our existing site in Shingal has already doubled compared to last year, and the new production facility will support the expected growth of our flagship products in the years to come." said Cees de Jong, Chief Operating Officer of Crucell.

    The Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ), located in Incheon, South Korea consists of the three regions of Songdo, Cheongna, and the island of Yeongjong and have a total area of 51,739 acres (209.38 km2). The goal of the IFEZ is to transform these three areas into hubs for logistics, international business, leisure, and tourism for the Northeast Asian region. The term 'Free Economic Zone' applies to the development in these three areas with the aim of improving the business environment for foreign-invested enterprises and the living conditions for foreigners. The zone is a specially designated area to create the most favorable business and living environment where foreign nationals can live and invest freely and conveniently. Incheon's Free Economic Zone, the first in Korea, was officially designated by the Korean government in August of 2003. IFEZ is planned to be a self-contained living and business district featuring air and sea transportation, a logistics complex, an international business center, financial services, residences, schools and hospitals, and shopping and entertainment centres.

    is vooraad opbouw om nee verkoop in de toekomst te voorkomen. Als je de produktie verplaatst kan je niet direct optimale volumes draaien. Deze vooraad kost geld en heeft effect op de cashflow, zie je straks bij de cijfers wel weer terug. Hoe zit het met de boekwaarde van deze fabriek? of is het huur.
    Anders moet dit worden afgeboekt omdat men hier niets meer produceert.

    Zoals eerder al aangegeven zal die verplaatsing niet plotseling verlopen daar het gepaard gaat met productieuitbreiding.

    Vooreerst zal de nieuwe faciliteit eerst de productieuitbreidng opvangen en blijft de oude fabriek intussen draaien. Als alles naar wens verloopt kan men geleidelijk aan de productie van de oude naar de nieuwe fabriek overbrengen. (Er is sprake van een time-line).

    Let er ook op dat 4 van de 5 elementen van het QV in bulk worden toegeleverd en alleen maar het toeleveringsadres dient te wijzigen.

    Imo zal de afvulinstallatie in de nieuwe fabriek wel snel op capaciteit zitten, moderner en efficenter neem ik aan.

    AMSTERDAM (Dow Jones)--Crucell nv verplaatst de productie van het kindervaccin Quinvaxem en het hepatitis B-vaccin Hepavax-Gene in Zuid-Korea naar een nieuwe faciliteit, om verdere groei en efficiente productie mogelijk te maken. Dat heeft het biotechnologiebedrijf dinsdag bekendgemaakt.

    De productie wordt verplaatst van Shingal in Yongin City naar de Incheon Free Economic Zone.

    Alle betrokken partijen zijn het eens geworden over de tijdslijn en voorwaarden van de verplaatsing, aldus Crucell. De bouw zal snel starten.

    De productie van Quinvaxem op de bestaande locatie in Shingal is in 2008 al verdubbeld in vergelijking met vorig jaar. De nieuwe productiefaciliteit ondersteunt verdere groei van dit "vlaggenschip" van het bedrijf in de komende jaren, meldt Cees de Jong, Chief Operating Officer van Crucell.
