    HELSINKI (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - De Duitse industriereus Siemens en de Franse branchegenoot Areva hebben overeenstemming bereikt over een schadevergoeding die aan energiebedrijf TVO wordt betaald. De Finnen krijgen 450 miljoen euro als compensatie voor de jarenlange vertraging bij de bouw van een nieuwe kernreactor.

    Met de overeenkomst wordt ook een streep gezet onder een juridische strijd die jarenlang speelde over het project Olkiluoto-3. De bouw van de centrale begon in 2005 volgens de nieuwste technologieën. Zo zou de centrale de grootste ter wereld worden en de eerste met zogeheten EPR-technologie. Dat zorgt er voor dat de centrale minder brandstof nodig heeft en ook minder radioactief afval produceert.

    TVO wacht nog steeds op de oplevering van de centrale waarmee een bedrag van 5,5 miljard euro is gemoeid. Dat gebeurt naar verwachting medio volgend jaar. Lukt dit op tijd dan krijgen de makers een aanmoedigingspremie van maximaal 150 miljoen euro. Is de centrale echter eind 2019 nog niet af, dan wordt nogmaals 400 miljoen euro overgemaakt aan TVO.

    Het project zadelde Areva op met een stevig verlies. Het bedrijf werd met steun van de Franse overheid in leven gehouden. Inmiddels is een deel van de Areva-activiteiten verkocht aan staatsenergiebedrijf EDF. Siemens kondigde eerder aan zich volledig terug te zullen trekken uit nucleaire energie.

    MÜNCHEN (AFN) - De beursgang van de medische divisie van Siemens levert het Duitse industrieconcern 4,2 miljard euro op. Aan Healthineers, een belangrijke concurrent van Philips op het gebied van technologie voor de gezondheidszorg, komt een prijskaartje van in totaal 28 miljard euro te hangen.

    Siemens verkoopt 150 miljoen aandelen in zijn medische divisie aan investeerders, die daar 28 euro per stuk voor betalen. Dat komt neer op een belang van 15 procent. Eerder zette Siemens al zijn activiteiten op het gebied van windenergie en treinen apart. Ook de de verlichtingsdivisie werd als zelfstandig bedrijf naar de beurs gebracht onder de naam Osram.

    Het aandeel Healthineers is vanaf vrijdag verhandelbaar op de beurs in Frankfurt. De opbrengst van de beursgang wordt naar verwachting gebruikt voor overnames ter versterking van de kernactiviteiten van Siemens. Het bedrijf blijft actief in onder meer de energiesector.

    Gazprom to buy turbines from Siemens for Chechnya plant

    Reuters reported that Russian gas giant Gazprom has agreed to purchase two gas turbines from Germany's Siemens for installation at a power plant it is building in Russia's Caucasus Chechnya region. Siemens said last year that it was reviewing aspects of its dealings with Russia after claiming that four of its power-generating turbines meant for southern Russia had been delivered to Crimea, which is subject to European sanctions on technology supplies after Russia annexed the region.

    In October, however, Siemens said it was ready to participate in the modernisation of power plants in Russia.

    Gazprom, whose electric power arm Gazpromenergoholding is one of Russia's biggest power suppliers, plans to open a plant in the Chechnen capital Grozny next year with a capacity of up to 360 megawatts.

    It did not said that how much it would pay for the two turbines.

    Chechnya fought two wars against Russia after the 1991 Soviet collapse, but now, in return for generous subsidies and a wide degree of autonomy, pledges loyalty to Moscow.

    Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been blacklisted as part of Western sanctions against Russia but businesses in Chechnya are not subject to sanctions.

    Siemens verkoopt meer beeldtechnologie

    MÜNCHEN (AFN) - De medische divisie van het Duitse Siemens, die in maart een beursnotering kreeg, heeft in de eerste drie maanden van dit jaar zijn omzet op eigen kracht verhoogd. Siemens Healthineers, een belangrijke concurrent van Philips op het gebied van technologie voor de gezondheidszorg, profiteerde van een hogere verkoop van beeldtechnologie zoals medische scanners.

    Het is voor het eerst dat Healthineers als beursgenoteerd bedrijf resultaten naar buiten brengt. De omzet zakte in het tweede kwartaal van het gebroken boekjaar met 5 procent tot ruim 3,2 miljard euro als gevolg van negatieve wisselkoersen. Op autonome basis klommen de opbrengsten met 4 procent. Bij de divisie Imaging, dus met bijvoorbeeld scanners, was sprake van een onderliggende omzetgroei met 6 procent. Bij de tak Diagnostics bleef de autonome omzet onveranderd en bij het onderdeel Advanced Therapies ging die met 2 procent omhoog.

    De nettowinst daalde met 16 procent tot 457 miljoen euro, met name door kosten voor de beursgang in maart. Siemens bracht een belang van 15 procent in Healthineers naar de aandelenmarkt in Frankfurt, waarmee 4,2 miljard euro werd opgehaald.

    Healthineers handhaafde zijn prognoses voor het gehele boekjaar. Daarbij wordt onder meer gerekend op een autonome omzetgroei van 3 tot 4 procent.

    Siemens verwacht meer winst
    Bescheiden omzetgroei voorzien in 2018.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Siemens is op basis van de prestaties uit het afgelopen halfjaar, positiever geworden over de winstontwikkeling voor heel het boekjaar 2018. Dit meldde het Duitse conglomeraat in elektronica en elektrotechniek woensdagochtend.

    Siemens mikt voor het huidige boekjaar op een winst per aandeel van 7,70 tot 8,00 euro, terwijl eerder nog een bandbreedte werd aangehouden van 7,20 tot 7,70 euro. De verwachtingen voor een "bescheiden" omzetgroei en een winstmarge van 11,0 tot 12,0 procent voor de industriële activiteiten werden gehandhaafd.

    In het tweede kwartaal van het huidige gebroken boekjaar, dat eindigde op 31 maart, kwam de omzet uit op 20,1 miljard euro, hetgeen vrijwel gelijk is aan de omzet uit dezelfde periode een jaar eerder. Het aantal orders daalde met 2 procent tot 22,3 miljard euro, maar dit kwam volgens Siemens door een moeilijke vergelijkingsbasis.

    De industriële activiteiten zorgden voor een winst van 2,3 miljard euro met een winstmarge van 11 procent. Als gevolg bleef er onder de streep een nettowinst van 2,0 miljard euro. Siemens profiteerde van 0,7 miljard euro winst uit de centraal beheerde portefeuilleactiviteiten. Een jaar eerder realiseerde het conglomeraat nog een winst van krap 1,5 miljard euro.

Siemens has commissioned the world’s largest Static Synchronous Compensator solution for Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd at PGCIL’s Rourkela substation.     Siemens signs over 10 agreements with Chinese firms to tap BRI

    Siemens signed over 10 collaborative agreements with Chinese companies on Wednesday to deepen its participation in the Belt and Road initiative by focusing on power generation and smart manufacturing where the German engineering group “has rich experience and technologies."

    The BRI “proves to have far-reaching significance, with China having boosted the infrastructure development in many emerging markets,” said Joe Kaeser, chief executive officer of Siemens, at a conference in Beijing on Wednesday.

    Siemens is keen to deepen its participation in the BRI in power generation and management, smart building and smart manufacturing where it “has rich experience and technologies,” the company told Shanghai Daily.

    The Chinese infrastructure development companies which signed the agreements on Wednesday include China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co, Guangdong Yuedian Group Co, China National Chemical Engineering Group Corp, China Railway International Group, China Civil Engineering Construction Corp and China Resources Cement Holdings Limited.

    Siemens said that the collaboration will see the partners develop business in Indonesia, the Philippines, Nigeria, Mozambique and some markets in South America.

    MÜNCHEN (AFN) - Het Duitse technologie- en industrieconcern Siemens overweegt een verkoop van zijn activiteiten op het gebied van gasturbines. Volgens ingewijden rond de zaak tegen persbureau Bloomberg worden alle opties bekeken voor die activiteiten. Bij een vestiging van Siemens in Hengelo worden gasturbines gebouwd.

    Siemens is bezig duizenden banen te schrappen bij zijn energiedivisie met onder meer gasturbines vanwege de moeizame marktomstandigheden. De vraag naar gasturbines staat sterk onder druk omdat steeds meer energie wordt opgewekt met wind en zon. Siemens heeft nog geen definitief besluit genomen over de gasturbine-activiteiten en kan ook besluiten om deze te behouden, aldus de bronnen.

    In december kondigde Siemens aan de fabriek in Hengelo op termijn te willen sluiten, waardoor zeshonderd banen op de tocht staan. Een overname van de fabriek of delen daarvan kan mogelijk een uitweg betekenen voor de medewerkers die hun baan dreigen te verliezen.

    Bloomberg quoted citing people familiar with the matter as saying that Siemens AG is considering strategic options including a potential sale of its struggling business that makes large gas turbines for power plants.

    The German engineering company is looking at all possibilities, such as a combination with a rival, for what was once a flagship operation within the power and gas division, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the discussions aren’t public. They cautioned that no final decision has been made and the company could end up weathering a downturn and keeping the business.The report added that German engineering company is looking at all possibilities, such as a combination with a rival.

    A spokesperson for Siemens said the company doesn’t comment on market speculation. It also doesn’t break out earnings for the large gas turbine activity. Berenberg analyst Simon Toennessen put revenue this year at 5.5 billion euros ($6.5 billion) and said a sale would be the “best outcome for shareholders.”

    The deliberations come after Siemens unveiled a plan in November to cut 6,900 jobs at the power and gas division and close some factories. The unit, which produces giant turbines in Berlin, Charlottesville, Virginia and Finspong, Sweden, has suffered from a collapse in orders as the global energy industry shifts to renewable sources like wind and solar and away from large-scale power plants that run on fossil fuels. Finding a buyer may not be easy as competitors face similar issues.

    Valuta-effecten drukken op cijfers Siemens

    (ABM FN) Siemens bleef in het derde kwartaal van het gebroken boekjaar op omzetniveau onderliggend stabiel, terwijl de nettowinst onder druk stond. Dit meldde het Duitse conglomeraat in elektronica en elektrotechniek donderdagochtend over de verslagperiode die eindigde op 30 juni van dit jaar.

    Het bedrijf uit München meldde donderdag over het derde kwartaal een omzetdaling van 4 procent, toe te schrijven aan valuta-effecten. De omzet kwam daarmee uit op 20.473 miljoen euro. Tegen constante valuta bleef de omzet stabiel met een daling in de Power and Gas-tak en groei bij een meerderheid van de industriële activiteiten.

    Siemens kon een verbeterd orderboek melden van 16 procent naar 22.802 miljoen euro. Hier was sprake van een valuta-effect van 5 procentpunt.

    De nettowinst daalde met 14 procent naar 1.210 miljoen euro. Siemens sprak donderdag hier van een substantieel hogere belastingdruk.

    Siemens mikt voor het huidige boekjaar op een winst per aandeel van 7,70 tot 8,00 euro. De verwachtingen voor een "bescheiden" omzetgroei en een winstmarge van 11,0 tot 12,0 procent voor de industriële activiteiten werden gehandhaafd.

    Het aandeel Siemens sloot woensdag 0,8 procent lager.

    MÜNCHEN (AFN) - Het Duitse industrie- en technologieconcern Siemens neemt voor 600 miljoen euro in contanten het van oorsprong Nederlandse softwarebedrijf Mendix over. Met de overname wil Siemens zijn activiteiten bij digitalisering van industriële processen versterken.

    Mendix werd in 2005 in Rotterdam opgericht. Het hoofdkantoor staat nu in Boston in de Amerikaanse staat Massachussets. De onderneming telt meer dan vierhonderd werknemers en houdt zich bezig met bijvoorbeeld toepassingen rond cloudsoftware. Tot de klanten van het bedrijf behoren onder meer KLM, Philips en DSM.

    Mendix gaat onder de vleugels van Siemens door onder zijn eigen naam. Topman en medeoprichter Derek Roos blijft aan het hoofd staan van het bedrijf. Siemens wil de overname voor het einde van dit jaar afronden.

    MÜNCHEN (ANP/DPA) - Het Duitse technologieconcern Siemens heeft een grote opdracht binnengesleept van het Oostenrijkse spoorwegbedrijf ÖBB. Het Duitse concern zal de komende jaren honderden treinstellen leveren. Met de opdracht is een bedrag gemoeid van 1,5 miljard euro.

    Volgens de overeenkomst gaat Siemens in de komende vijf jaar tot wel 700 treinstellen leveren. De treinen moeten in 2022 op het Oostenrijkse spoor rijden. Na 2023 kan ÖBB beslissen om de overeenkomst met Siemens te verlengen.

    ÖBB kondigde eind juli al aan de aanbestedingsprocedure met Siemens te zullen vervolgen. Volgens het technologiebedrijf is de opdracht een van de grootste aanbestedingen voor passagierstreinen in Europa.

    Siemens: van massaontslag is geen sprake

    In een persverklaring zegt Siemens vrijdag echter dat het verhaal nergens op is gebaseerd. 'We volgen de redenering achter de getallen in het tijdschriftartikel niet. Er zijn geen van dergelijke uitspraken gedaan.'

    'Geen kostenbesparingen'
    Volgens Manager-Magazin zou bestuursvoorzitter Joe Kaeser de plannen op een roadshow bij beleggers uit de doeken hebben gedaan. Hij zou wereldwijd mogelijk 20.000 banen willen schrappen, vooral administratieve functies. Het tijdschrift had Siemens om commentaar gevraagd, maar dat wilde het concern niet geven.

    Siemens kondigde begin deze maand aan dat het zijn concernstructuur op de schop wil nemen in een poging om sneller te kunnen groeien en winstgevender te worden.
    Dat het bedrijf daarbij in de kosten snijdt, ligt voor de hand. Maar volgens Siemens zijn er 'geen plannen voor een bedrijfsbreed kostenbesparingsprogramma geïnitieerd door het hoofdkantoor'. Bij de nieuwe businessunit die zich richt op het internet der dingen — apparaten die met het internet verbonden zijn — heeft Siemens plannen om tot en met 2025 10.000 nieuwe werknemers aan te nemen.

    MÜNCHEN (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - Het Duitse industrieconcern Siemens is dicht bij een miljardendeal rond energiecentrales in Irak. De waarde van het contract zou circa 13 miljard euro bedragen, wat de grootste opdracht voor Siemens ooit zou zijn.

    De topman van Siemens, Joe Kaeser, had zondag een ontmoeting met de Iraakse premier Haider al-Abadi in Bagdad om te praten over de deal voor het bouwen en moderniseren van energiecentrales. Daarmee zouden duizenden banen gemoeid zijn. Door het project zou de Iraakse opwekkingscapaciteit met 11 gigawatt moeten toenemen in vier jaar. Dat zou neerkomen op een toename met de helft vanaf het huidige niveau.

    Het contract zou welkom nieuws zijn voor de energie- en gasdivisie van Siemens die het momenteel zwaar heeft. Bij het onderdeel worden duizenden banen geschrapt.

    Siemens to cut 2900 jobs as part of euro cost-saving plan

    Reuters reported that German engineering group Siemens would cut around 2,900 jobs in Germany as part of a restructuring plan to achieve 500 million euros (USD 589.60 million) in cost savings. Siemens said the measures were designed to boost the competitiveness of its Power and Gas division and the Process Industries and Drives division. Ms Lisa Davis, member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG said in the company's statement that "The market for fossil power generation has contracted substantially. Against the backdrop of this structural change, the agreement we've reached is critical to improving our competitiveness.” She added that the cuts are planned over the next two years.

    Siemens said that cuts at Power and Gas in Germany will amount to around 270 million euros in efficiency gains, as part of an overall goal to achieve 500 million euros in savings.

    It said that around 2,900 jobs will be cut in Germany instead of the 3,400 announced in November, and sites in Goerlitz and Berlin will continue operations.

    This project will contribute to the country’s targets to develop local renewable energy resources and a local wind energy industry. Part of the turbine components will be locally procured and assembled, in fulfillment of the localization requirements.

    Siemens Gamesa enters next phase towards global leadership

    Entering into the next phase of its strategic plan towards global leadership Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is adjusting its leadership team and organizational structure to better respond to the dynamic market environment.

    Mr Markus Tacke, CEO of Siemens Gamesa said that “Eighteen months after the merger we are concluding the first phase of our strategic plan centred around merging and stabilizing the company. We have achieved a great deal in terms of winning new business and integrating our company. In the next phase, our efforts will focus on leveraging economies of scale and creating the foundation for sustainable profitability. The changes we announced today will strengthen the organization for the challenges ahead. I’m convinced that these steps are the right ones to ensure the future success of our company.”

    The Board of Directors appointed Miguel Ángel López, currently Siemens Gamesa’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), member and non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective December 1st. He will succeed Rosa García who has decided to leave the Siemens group and seek new challenges after seven successful years. nWith extensive international experience, in-depth knowledge of the company and a vast financial and industry track record, López will contribute to the successful development of Siemens Gamesa in his new function.

    “I thank Rosa for her dedication and achievements since the merger, guiding Siemens Gamesa through the challenging integration. I wish her all the best for the future. I also thank Miguel for his strong contribution to the stringent execution of our strategic plan and his excellent performance as CFO. I’m sure he will continue to have a major impact on our future success and I look forward to working with him in his new function,” added Tacke on behalf of the leadership team.

    Mr Miguel Ángel López said that “It’s an honor for me to serve Siemens Gamesa as Chairman. I fully trust our team around the world and am convinced that we will maintain and strengthen our leading position by being a reliable partner for our customers.”

    The Board of Directors has appointed David Mesonero the new CFO of the company, also effective December 1st. As Head of Corporate Development, Strategy and Integration he managed the integration of the company and contributed to the development of its strategic plan.
