    Logica secures extended outsourcing agreement with FMV 05 February 2009

    Logica, a leading IT and business services company has renewed its agreement with the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) to provide outsourcing services for FMV’s IT operations. The parties signed an extensive outsourcing agreement in 2006 which is now being extended two years, with the option for an additional year extension. The order value of the new agreement amounts to approximately 16 million euro.

    Logica’s delivery includes application operations, server operations, communications services, WAN-LAN, Service Desk and Desktop Lifecycle Management.

    Logica has several years of experience in providing IT services to the Swedish Armed Forces and defence agencies. The combination of experience and a well-developed offering within outsourcing was one of the reasons Logica retains FMV’s trust.

    Commenting on the agreement, Fredrik Ahlstedt, Managing Director Infrastructure Management, Logica, Sweden says ”The new agreement is a continuation of our favourable and long-term cooperation with FMV. Together, we have successfully found solutions that have been a support for development of operations in a time when FMV has implemented major changes.     IT Services and Outsourcing India losing its advantage in outsourcing

    Indian IT service providers are losing their advantage against global competitors for providing IT outsourcing services as customer satisfaction levels fall. But they still compete successfully and still achieve high customer satisfaction levels.

    Indian IT outsourcer Infosys came top with a level of satisfaction, recorded by businesses that outsource IT functions, of 75%. The average satisfaction was 64%. BT came bottom out of 21 companies in a poll for customer satisfaction with a score of 50%.

    The research carried out by sourcing consultancy Equaterra, for the year 2008, revealed that although Indian suppliers had good customer satisfaction some of the big global providers are closing the gap.

    Satisfaction with Satyam declined 15%, TCS dropped 8% and Wipro fell 4%. But satisfaction with three of the global providers Accenture, Getronics and Hewlett-Packard increased by 3%, while Capgemini improved by 8%, Logica by 5% and IBM by 9%.

    "It seems that the Indian providers are losing their traditional advantage against the global players and that there is more choice for customers the world is becoming a more level playing field.

    Für Torsten Straß ist das iPhone mehr als nur ein Kultgerät für PrivatanwenderLogica will die Business-Tauglichkeit des Apple iPhone vorantreiben und plant, gemeinsam mit Kunden Lösungen zu entwickeln. Was Analysten Apple also vorwerfen, das iPhone sei für Firmen nicht geeignet, will Logica widerlegen. Der Systemintegrator arbeitet dabei eng mit dem Mobilfunkanbieter T-Mobile zusammen. »Das iPhone hat beste Voraussetzungen, neue Standards als Business-Mobiltelefon zu setzen. Wir wollen dieses Potenzial freisetzen und dazu beitragen, dass unsere Kunden von der innovativen Technologie profitieren können,« erklärt Torsten Straß, CEO Logica in Deutschland.

    In einem ersten Schritt führte Logica im Oktober und November 2008 Feldtests mit dem iPhone durch, bei denen die Funktionalität, das Handling und die Robustheit des Gerätes geprüft wurden. Diese Tests seien sehr erfolgreich verlaufen, wie Straß bestätigt. Gleichzeitig ist Logica der erste IT-Dienstleister in Deutschland, der seine Berater und Manager flächendeckend mit iPhones ausstattet. »Einerseits ist dies Voraussetzung, wenn wir die Business-Tauglichkeit des iPhones weiterentwickeln wollen. Andererseits kommt es natürlich auch unseren Mitarbeitern zugute, wenn wir sie mit innovativen Tools ausstatten,« erläutert Straß.

    Insgesamt führt Logica bundesweit 1.400 Geräte ein. Für Philipp Humm, Geschäftsführer Vertrieb T-Mobile Deutschland und Mitglied des Bereichsvorstands T-Home, ist Logica mehr als einer der bisher größten iPhone-Kunden: »Logica gehört als internationales Beratungshaus zu den Innovatoren und Multiplikatoren in der Branche und ist deshalb ein wichtiger Partner für T-Mobile.«

    Im Zuge der Einführung des iPhones für die eigenen Mitarbeiter führte Logica eine umfangreiche Analyse der Festnetz- und Mobilfunk-Kostenstruktur durch. In Zusammenarbeit mit den Partnern erzielte das Unternehmen durch eine Umstellung der Tarifstruktur, Konsolidierung und Standardisierung der Prozesse Kosteneinsparungen im sechsstelligen Bereich. Wichtige unternehmensinterne Aufgaben wie die Zeiterfassung, die Reisekostenabrechnung oder die Bedienung des unternehmensinternen CRM-Systems (Customer Relationship Management) sollen künftig über das iPhone abgewickelt werden können.

    Logica neemt interne helpdesk KPN over

    Logica, de Europese ICT-dienstverlener, heeft per 1 februari 2009 de activiteiten van de Service Desk voor bedrijfsapplicaties van KPN overgenomen. De service desk helpt bij vragen en storingen van de IT systemen die KPN dagelijks gebruikt. De meerjarenovereenkomst heeft een waarde van € 21,6 miljoen. In totaal gaan 40 arbeidsplaatsen van KPN over naar Logica.

    De activiteiten hebben betrekking op de zogeheten eerstelijns-helpdesk,. Deze helpdesk, bereikbaar via telefoon, e-mail en internet ondersteunt medewerkers bij vragen over in totaal ruim 700 KPN-bedrijfsapplicaties. Tevens zal Logica aanverwante activiteiten verzorgen zoals het leveren van management-rapportages.
    Dit contract onderstreept het vertrouwen van KPN in de dienstverlening van Logica. Eerder besteedde KPN de werkzaamheden van zowel het HR shared service center als het applicatiebeheer van strategische netwerkinformatiesystemen uit aan Logica. Hierbij zijn respectievelijk 65 en 12 arbeidsplaatsen door Logica overgenomen.
    Bij de uitvoering van dit contract voor de Service Desk bedrijfsapplicaties maakt Logica gebruik van blended sourcing, waarbij voor elke afzonderlijke activiteit wordt afgewogen welke locatie het meest geschikt en kosteneffectief is. De afhandeling van de vragen en storingen vindt plaats vanuit twee Logica-vestigingen in Nederland en India. Daarnaast worden rapportages grotendeels vanuit Logica in India uitgevoerd.

    Logica helps Outokumpu improve production flexibility

    Logica, a leading IT and business services company has been chosen by Finnish company Outokumpu, a world leader in stainless steel production, to bring in new flexibility and extend its product range. New value-added steels will allow the manufacturing giant to even out production loads during rapid economic fluctuations. Logica will enable the expansion of the melt shop and hot rolling production control system of Outokumpu’s key plant in Tornio, Finland to help them manage their product portfolio effectively.

    To accommodate the additional capacity provided by improvements such as a new slab grinding machine, Logica will develop a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to complement the existing production system that it currently provides. The new system will be ramped up in phases, entering full production by August 2010.

    “The MES will control key plant functions such as our slab grinding machine, production automation and reporting. This new system will also enhance plant management of slab logistics, through control of some of our key automation systems, such as our new roller table together with old outgoing automated train, during transition phase,” describes Esa Vapa, IT Applications manager in Outokumpu Tornio Works.

    “Through a broader product selection and control system, we will be able to serve our customers better, more competitively and enable us to react faster with flexibility to our customers’ changing needs. The MES solution will enable more efficient transfer of data in both directions. We will also extend using indicators for monitoring issues such as material consumption, costs and quality,” Vapa continues.

    “The processing industry is investing heavily in MES. Using modern production control, plants can flex production in reaction to fluctuating markets. MES solutions are a key focus area for Logica with several decades of experience and expertise in this area. Together with customers, we are able to combine our expertise with industry needs to develop solutions that make a difference to the end consumer. We have a long standing partnership with Outokumpu and the Tornio steel plant project is just the latest application of our MES expertise” explains Henry Nieminen of Logica.

    Logica rises on Goldman Sachs 'buy' note

    Logica strengthened last night, gaining ground amid calls that the sell-off in its stock may have been overdone.

    Goldman Sachs told clients that at current levels the shares more than reflected concerns about the fate of the company's performance as the trading environment deteriorates.

    Upgrading the stock to "buy", the broker said that although the information technology group's full-year results at the end of this month were likely to show a weak fourth quarter, with profits possibly coming in below market views, the Nordic and French businesses were likely to "show continued resilience" and the UK business may show signs of improvement, "which should take some pressure off the stock".

    "The [current] stock valuation seems overly focused on the downside," Goldman said, setting an 85p target price on the stock, which was up more than 3 per cent or 2.25p at 71p.

    Logica announces strategic BPO appointments

The new appointments will expand the UK Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) team in line with the company’s strategy to broaden its service offerings to support its clients through the current economic climate and to target the growing BPO market. In particular, they will help spearhead Logica’s local government growth initiatives.

    Nathan has joined as Transformation Consultant, responsible for supporting the Local Government team.     MoD awards tech deals worth £14m

    The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded three tech contracts totalling £14m in investment and providing work for 14 UK-based companies.

    According to the Official Journal of the European Union - which publishes public sector tenders and contract awards - the deals are for the provision of systems consultancy services.

    Two of the contracts are worth £5m, with the third valued at £4m.

    The higher value contracts cover IT/IS consultancy support for communications and applications and software development, while the lower value deal is for similar services around security.

    The 14 companies that have successfully won work through the three contracts include Detica, Logica UK, Northgate, Parity Solutions, S.Com and Vega.

    Logica geeft meer aandacht aan riskmanagement

    Ict-dienstverlener Logica gaat meer aandacht besteden aan het riskmanagement van projecten. De afdeling die daarvoor verantwoordelijk is, heeft van de nieuwe ceo Wilbert Kieboom een prominentere rol gekregen door de afdeling plaats te laten nemen in het managementteam. De dienstverlener deed onder andere projecten bij het UWV.

    De nieuwe Logica Nederland-ceo Wilbert Kieboom heeft de afdeling ‘risk management' prominenter in de organisatie geplaatst. Deze afdeling moet ervoor zorgen dat de projecten die door de dienstverlener worden uitgevoerd goed verlopen.

    "De afdeling risk management bekijkt op regelmatige basis de projecten die door Logica worden uitgevoerd. Als blijkt dat er een risico is, dan wordt er nauwgezetter begeleid", zegt Kieboom. De afdeling ‘risk management' bestond al bij Logica voordat Kieboom aantrad. Hij heeft het onderdeel toegevoegd aan het managementteam. "Het is nu een integraal onderdeel van de organisatie geworden."

    Logica kwam het afgelopen jaar negatief in het nieuws door een mislukt project bij het UWV. Volgens de directeur gaan er overigens ook veel projecten goed. "Maar die een of twee projecten met een negatieve afloop blijven bij iedereen op het netvlies zitten."

    Logica koopt laatste aandeelhouders WM-Data uit

    Logica Plc. haalt het laatste restant aandelen van WM-Data uit de markt. Dat meldt de ict-dienstverlener maandag middels een persbericht.

    Logica betaalde in 2006 GBP896 miljoen voor de Zweedse onderneming. Bij de afronding van de overname was 95,3% van het aandelenkapitaal aangemeld. Om ook de resterende stukken te bemachtigen startte Logica een uitrookprocedure.

    Logica verwacht de minderheidsaandeelhouders voor 10 maart te hebben betaald.

    LONDEN (AFN) - Automatiseerder Logica denkt komend jaar beter te kunnen presteren dan de markt. Vooral in de Britse en Scandinavische markten heeft het bedrijf een goede positie, aldus topman Andy Green woensdag in een toelichting op de voorlopige jaarcijfers. Nederland is het zorgenkindje van het bedrijf.

    In 2007 kampte Logica nog met grote problemen bij de Britse divisie. Dit leidde tot het aftreden van bestuursvoorzitter Martin Read. Inmiddels heeft dit onderdeel zich hersteld.

    ,,De Britse divisie heeft zich sinds mijn aantreden vorig jaar sterk geconcentreerd op een aantal sectoren en heeft nu relatief een sterke positie in de publieke sector en bij nuts- en telecombedrijven. In deze sectoren blijven de uitgaven stijgen'', zei Green.

    Ongunstig

    In Nederland is de mix van klanten relatief ongunstig. ,,We denken dat de Nederlandse markt het meest onder druk komt te staan van al onze markten'', zei topman Andy Green. ,,In Nederland is de financiële sector relatief belangrijk voor ons.''

    De in februari aangetreden topman Wilbert Kieboom is desondanks optimistisch. ,,Er zijn nog genoeg verbeteringen door te voeren binnen de organisatie. We zullen ons meer gaan centraliseren en het aantal ondersteunende functies verder reduceren door natuurlijk verloop.'' Vorig jaar kondigde het bedrijf honderd ontslagen aan in Nederland.

    Extra maatregelen

    Kieboom is vooralsnog niet van plan meer mensen te ontslaan, maar ,,als het nodig is zullen we extra maatregelen treffen. Dat hoeft niet gepaard te gaan met ontslagen, we kunnen ook minder nieuwe mensen aannemen.'' Daarnaast zal meer werk worden uitbesteed aan lagere lonen landen zoals India.

    De omzet van Logica steeg in 2008 met 5 procent tot 3,6 miljard pond sterling (4,05 miljard euro), boven de eigen doelstelling van 4 procent groei. De winst voor belasting steeg met 48 procent tot 44 miljoen pond sterling (49,7 miljoen euro).

    Het bedrijf voert de kostenbesparingen op. In totaal wil het tot en met 2010 145 miljoen pond (164 miljoen euro) besparen, ten opzichte van de eerder geformuleerde 110 miljoen pond (124 miljoen euro).

    Of de omzet dit jaar zal groeien, is afhankelijk van de economische groei, die momenteel nog erg onzeker is, aldus Green. ,,Het zal net iets boven of net iets onder een vlakke groei terechtkomen.''

    Ministerie van Defensie gunt vervolgopdrachten voor verdere uitrol SAP-systemen

    Capgemini en Logica hebben van het ministerie van Defensie de opdracht gekregen om de verbetering van de logistieke keten van internationale missies verder vorm te geven. De twee ICT-dienstverleners gaan complexe processen inrichten en vertalen naar een systeem dat draait op basis van SAP-software. Daarnaast bouwt het samenwerkingsverband eerder opgeleverde SAP-modules verder uit en worden de medewerkers van IVENT, de ICT-organisatie van Defensie, getraind om de al draaiende SAP-systemen te beheren. Aan de opdracht is een bedrag van enkele tientallen miljoenen euro’s verbonden.

    De nieuwe opdrachten van het ministerie zijn een vervolg op de opdracht die eerder aan het samenwerkingsverband is verstrekt in het kader van het Strategic Process and ERP Enabled Reengineering (SPEER)-programma. SPEER zorgt ervoor dat het ministerie van Defensie op basis van SAP-modules organisatiebreed processen standaardiseert en werkwijzen van nu nog gescheiden organisatieonderdelen integreert. SPEER is bedoeld om onder andere de planning, het beheer en de bevoorrading van militair materieel te verbeteren. Het programma ondersteunt tevens de invoering van het nieuwe besturingsmodel van Defensie en verbetert het beheer van de informatievoorziening.

    In 2003 startte het Ministerie van Defensie het SPEER-programma voor het invoeren van een zogeheten Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) -systeem binnen Defensie. Het consortium Capgemini en Logica werd als regiepartner gecontracteerd om de geïntegreerde informatievoorziening te realiseren. Eerder al heeft het consortium de fundamentele bouwstenen ontwikkeld voor het financieel-economische en het materieel-logistieke domein van het ministerie van Defensie. In juni 2008 werd de volledige functionaliteit voor het financieel-economische domein in gebruik genomen.
    De nieuwe opdrachten zijn gericht op de verdere uitwerking van de functionaliteit voor bevoorrading en transport binnen het materieel-logistieke domein (de zogenoemde Kernel 2).

    Logica verhoogd naar buy

    Het advies op Logica is verhoogd naar buy van neutral door Piper Jaffray. De resultaten over 2008 waren licht boven verwachting en de outlook voor 2009 is robuust en beter dan die van concurrenten. Bovendien is de balans van het bedrijf aanzienlijk verbeterd. De analist van Piper Jaffray verhoogt het koersdoel naar 96p van 87p. Omstreeks 10.45 uur noteert het aandeel 2,7% hoger op EUR0,76, terwijl de Midkap met 0,7% stijgt. (YVV)

    Logica advies verhoogd naar hold

    Societe Generale verhoogt het advies voor Logica naar hold van sell. Het koersdoel is opwaarts bijgesteld naar EUR67 pence, van 58 pence. "Hoewel de recessie erger lijkt te worden, geloven we dat Logica's herstructureringsprogramma zijn vruchten begint af te werpen", aldus analist Richard Nguyen. Donderdag omstreeks 13.00 uur noteert het aandeel 4,1% hoger op EUR0,77, terwijl de Midkap met 0,8% stijgt. (HJL)

    HELSINKI, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Top Nordic IT services company TietoEnator (TIE1V.HE) plans to cut about 350 jobs in response to weakening demand, it said on Thursday.

    "The downturn of the overall economy ... has led to cautiousness in IT investments among our customers in certain sectors," TietoEnator Chief Executive Hannu Syrjala said in a statement. "We are taking action to address this change ... and to reduce overall costs."

    The cuts will fall mainly in northern Europe, the firm said.

    TietoEnator has faced increasing competition on its home turf as rivals -- including IBM (IBM.N), LogicaCMG and several Indian firms -- have increased market share in the Nordics, putting pressure on prices.

    Promotes Patricia Taylor to Director of Global HR Outsourcing

    Logica, one of Europe’s leading IT and business services companies, has today announced the promotion of Patricia Taylor to Director of Global HR Outsourcing, following her three year tenure as Director of HR and Payroll services in the UK.
