The eight turbines, with a unit capacity of 5.0 MW for a total of 40 MW, carry the largest rotor diameter for an onshore wind project in Asia (158 meters) and are the first to use blades in two pieces assembled on site. Construction was completed after only eight months with over The Mui Ne Wind Project site has a total expansion potential of up to 170 MW in one of the best wind resource areas in continental Vietnam. The project’s estimated cost is around US$ 70 million, which is financed by debt and equity, and has qualified for the wind feed-in-tariff of 8.5 US cents per kWh. It is assumed that roughly 130,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions will be avoided annually, contributing to a cleaner energy mix for the country. The Blue Circle will manage operations through an Asset Management Services contract.
Zhong Neng & CSC to Build Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan Strategic Research Institute Published on : 06 Dec, 2021, 5:07 am The offshore wind project Zhong Neng, a joint venture between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners through its fund Copenhagen Infrastructure IV and China Steel Corporation , has signed project financing agreement and is expected to reach financial close shortly. The project is located next to CIP’s offshore wind farm, Changfang and Xidao, which is currently under construction. Zhong Neng received approval of its local content plan in November 2019 from the Taiwan government and is to date the most localised offshore wind project in Taiwan. The project will utilize jacket foundations to be supplied by CSC’s subsidiary, Sing Da Marine Structures, and Vestas will provide 31 174-9.6MW turbines. The 298MW offshore wind farm will be financed through a combination of equity from CI IV and CSC and loans from a consortium of 20 banks. A total of approximately USD 1.6 billion in project financing was raised through a successful process. CI IV is a 49% shareholder in Zhong Neng, with the remaining 51% being owned by CSC. CSC and CIP have worked together on obtaining grid allocation for Zhong Neng in 2018 and entering into a 20-year PPA with the state-owned Taiwan Power Company in 2019. CSC and CIP will together lead the project through its construction phase with expected start of commercial operations in 2025.

The partners intend to jointly develop new offshore wind projects off the west coast of Taiwan - in the county waters of Hsinchu, Taichung and Changhua. Some of the sites are in water depths that are suitable for floating offshore wind, allowing RWE to apply its international experiences gained from three full-size floating demonstrator projects. This perfectly complements the local expertise and market know-how of ACC. RWE, which opened its office in Taiwan in 2018, and ACC is already collaborating successfully in the development of the Chu Feng offshore wind project, that has a planned installed capacity of up to 448 megawatts.

Eurus Tomamae Wind Farm Replacement Project Completed Strategic Research Institute Published on : 21 Mar, 2022, 5:30 am Eurus Energy Group has recently completed reconstruction of Eurus Tomamae Wind Farm (total output capacity of 20MW) in Tomamae-cho, Hokkaido, which resumed commercial operation on March 1st, 2022. The project was the Group’s first commercial wind farm in Japan when it originally began commercial operation in November 1999. This facility was also the first large-scale wind power plant referred to as a “wind farm” in Japan, and was a milestone leading in to the expansion of renewable energy in Japan. However, after reaching its 20 year planned operation life, , commercial operation was temporarily terminated in March 2020 to undergo a complete renewal of its wind turbine generators, administration building, and other facilities in order to continue to effectively utilize abundant wind resources and contribute to the revitalization of the community. The reconstruction activities commenced in October 2020. Prior to the replacement, the wind farm consisted of 19 wind turbines with capacity of 1MW each, and one of capacity 2MW, for a total of 20 turbines. They have been replaced by five General Electric 4.2MW wind turbines, which are one of the largest models to be installed in Japan. With the new models in place, the amount of electricity generated is expected to be approximately 20% higher than before the replacement. All electricity generated will continue to be sold to the Hokkaido Electric Power Network, Inc., supplying the equivalent of electricity requirement of approximately 14,000 average households.
