Beste medebeleggers.

(volgens mij dezelfde toch?)

XS016110051. 6.5% YTM.

On 29 May 2012, the bank announced that, according to the terms of its 9% perpetual subordinated notes and 8.393% non-cumulative preferred securities (the latter issued by the backed vehicle BPM Capital Trust I), it will not pay its coupons due in June and July, which can be skipped at the option of the bank due to the breach of the net profit trigger. The coupons are paid annually and quarterly respectively and are non-cumulative; thus, the payments will be lost. Moody's factors two years of missed coupons into its expected loss analysis to reflect a possibility that the bank may not have distributable profits in 2013 and will opt again to skip the coupon. The outlook remains negative, primarily reflecting the negative outlook on the bank's standalone credit assessment of ba1 as well as the possibility of missed coupons for a longer period of time.

Vraag is alleen hoe.
uit de FT deze week Shares in Banco Popular took another dive on Monday, after the Spanish lender said it was looking to raise more capital less than a year after investors injected €2.5bn into the struggling group. “The general diagnosis is clear: we need a capital increase to move forward,” Emilio Saracho, the bank’s new chairman, told a shareholder meeting in Madrid. Investors and analysts have long believed that Popular needs fresh capital to survive, but Mr Saracho’s statement sent the bank’s shares down more than 9 per cent in afternoon trading on Monday. The chairman gave no estimate of the size or timing of a future increase, but most analysts give a range of €3bn-€4bn. Popular, one of the worst-performing banks in Europe, has lost more than 90 per cent its market value over the past five years alone. In February, the bank unveiled a €3.5bn annual loss, after it was forced to once again ramp up provisions for its toxic loan portfolio. Popular’s long-suffering shareholders were handed a fresh blow last week, when the bank revealed that an internal audit had uncovered another unexpected shortfall in provisions. Mr Saracho, who took over as chairman earlier this year, acknowledged that the bank had to “act quickly and decisively” to restore confidence. He also raised the possibility of selling Popular to a rival bank, but stressed that such a sale was only one among several options. “We will do whatever generates the most value for shareholders,” he said. Daragh Quinn, a banking analyst at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, said Popular’s new management faced a difficult choice either way. “We do not expect the other banks to rush in with bids that would provide much support to the current share price,” he said in a note on Monday. Lex Banco Popular: blood wedding April 4: The Spanish bank will need a bigger dowry of capital before suitors come calling Should the bank decide to raise fresh equity, investors would likely want to see “best-in-class” coverage and capital ratios, which would imply a capital raising of about €4bn. The bank’s current market capitalisation is €3.4bn. Popular pushed through its last capital increase only last June, raising €2.5bn in the process. It also raised capital in 2002, at the height of Spain’s banking crisis. In the years since, the Spanish banking sector has largely recovered, with bad loan ratios and loan loss provisions plummeting across the industry — with the notable exception of Popular. Mr Saracho was at pains to assure shareholders that the bank had a future despite the recent string of setbacks. “Under no circumstances can I imagine the disappearance of Popular,” he said.
Banco Popular said its chief executive would step down just hours after it revealed that an audit of the troubled Spanish lender had uncovered more than €600m of insufficient provisions for bad loans and other credit issues. Shares fell more than 10 per cent on the back of the resignation of Pedro Larena and the announcement. In addition to the provisions issue, an internal audit reviewed by PwC found that unacknowledged credits had been given to clients to buy shares in the bank’s €2.5bn rights issue last May. The bank insisted in a stock market statement that Mr Larena was leaving “for strictly personal reasons”, but the move marks the third leadership shake up at the bank in less than a year. Mr Larena was hired last July by then chairman Angel Ron, who had led the bank since 2004 but had come under fire from investors and analysts after the bank’s shares lost 95 per cent of their value over five years. Then in February, Popular unveiled an annual loss of €3.5bn for 2016 and shortly after, Emilio Saracho, a former vice-chairman for JPMorgan in Europe, was named chairman. The bank said that Mr Larena had communicated to Mr Saracho his desire to leave his position but he would continue until the board named his replacement. Speculation about Mr Larena’s replacement centred on Miguel Escrig, whom Mr Saracho appointed as his deputy chairman three weeks ago. Mr Escrig most recently spent six years as chief financial officers of Telefónica. Banco Popular declined to comment on Mr Larena’s replacement or Mr Escrig’s role. Related article Emilio Saracho replaces Angel Ron as Banco Popular chairman Outgoing chairman of Spanish lender to retire on a pension worth €1.1m a year Daragh Quinn, Spanish banks analyst at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, said that Mr Larena’s departure was not surprising considering Mr Sarancho’s recent arrival. “It wouldn’t be surprising that the new chairman would want to pick his own CEO,” he said. As a result of the PwC audit, the bank said its total capital ratio fell to between 11.7 per cent and 11.85 per cent at the end of March, just above the regulatory requirement of 11.375 per cent. The bank did not provide a fully loaded capital ratio, which takes into account the regulatory reforms that were adopted after the financial crisis and are being phased in. Mr Quinn estimated it would fall from 8.2 per cent at the end of 2016 to as low as 7.5 per cent. “It’s another example of why there is very little confidence that they have the appropriate level of loan provisions. Every time they look at their books they say they need to provision more,” Mr Quinn said. Despite the revised numbers, the bank said that the audit would not have a significant impact on its 2016 numbers and would not require a restatement of its financial statement for the year. In a note to investors, Mr Quinn said the bank would require a significant capital injection of some €4.1bn.
