Vervolg. Mooi gezegd: innovatieve cultuur, vragen stellen. Iedere dag opnieuw. ‘Hier, bij Crucell, praten we nadrukkelijk over ‘leadership by all’. Gedeeld leiderschap, gedeelde verantwoordelijkheid.

England: www.independent.co.uk/life-style/heal... Hong Kong: 7thspace.com/headlines/423040/total_r... ******************* Mimopath: www.mucosis.com/press_releases_08-10-... The Mucosis Mimopath® technology is a plug- and play vaccine platform that addresses the innate immune system through Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) to activate the adaptive immune system. This mechanism efficiently evokes immune responses that engage disease-causing pathogens at their port of entry, the mucosal layers of the body. Uniquely, our technology is built on particles that not only elicit a strong and robust systemic immune response, but also a strong local immune response in mucosal layers in the nose, airways, gut and other places in the body. The core of the Mimopath® technology is the Bacterium-Like Particle (BLP). The BLPs are safe and derived from food-grade bacteria. There are two modes of application of the BLPs. The first is an Add & Mix approach in which the immune stimulating properties of the BLPs are used to improve existing vaccines and to enable a mucosal route of administration. The second is a Bound approach in which the BLPs not only act as immunostimulant but also as a carrier for the subunit antigen(s). The binding of the antigens is achieved by a linker domain called Protan that binds to the surface of the BLPs. Mimopath®-based vaccines were used by our scientists and collaborators who demonstrated in animal models that Mimopath®-based vaccines are protective against live parasites (malaria) viruses (influenza, hepatitis B) and bacteria (Streptococcus pneumonia, Yersinia pestis). Mimopath®-based vaccines were shown to be effective both as injectable and mucosal formats and in addition, proved to be highly effective in stimulation of the neonatal immune system. This forms the basis for a broad application of this new and innovative vaccine technology.
FlumAb, FluCell and a rabies antibody! J&J Hits Delays in Developing Flu Vaccine, Other Crucell Projects Health-care giant Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) has encountered delays in the development of three experimental products highlighted in its takeover of Dutch vaccine maker Crucell. J&J said last year it planned to submit the three products, which include an experimental flu vaccine, for regulatory approval by the end of 2015. But now the New Brunswick, N.J., company expects the regulatory submissions to occur sometime after that. "We're still moving forward with them, and we haven't disclosed what the new filing dates may be," said J&J spokeswoman Seema Kumar. "They just are not falling in the 2015 time frame." Ms. Kumar declined to say what caused the delays. The three projects are: FlumAb, a universal monoclonal antibody being studied to prevent and treat influenza; FluCell, a cell-based flu vaccine; and a rabies antibody. Last year, J&J paid more than $2 billion for the stake in Crucell that it didn't already own. J&J previously acquired an 18% stake in Crucell for about $450 million, in conjunction with a 2009 collaboration to develop and commercialize FlumAb and other vaccines and antibodies. The Crucell deal was intended to give J&J a foothold in the vaccine market, as well as to strengthen its position in emerging markets. J&J has said it hopes to use Crucell's technology to pursue not only preventive vaccines but also vaccines to treat diseases. The development delays factored into J&J's second-quarter charges of about $800 million to write down the value of the Crucell business, including the impairment of in-process research and development. In July, J&J attributed the second-quarter charges to "changes in the timelines for the development projects included in the original capitalized amount" of the acquired in-process research and development, as well as to a reduction in the value of currently marketed Crucell products that have been affected by pricing and competitive pressures. Crucell's currently marketed products include the Quinvaxem childhood vaccine and vaccines against hepatitis. However, J&J didn't specify at that time which experimental projects had contributed to the charges. The company dropped the three projects from its periodic update of planned regulatory filings through 2015. J&J said accounting rules required the Crucell write-down, but it still believes in the importance of Crucell. J&J Chief Financial Officer Dominic Caruso said in July that other Crucell development projects, including an experimental HIV vaccine, were "advancing well," but current accounting rules don't permit increasing the value of such projects post-acquisitionwww.foxbusiness.com/news/2012/11/16/j...

J&J To Submit Over 10 New Drug Applications By 2017 Published May 23, 2013 NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) said its pharmaceutical unit plans to submit more than 10 new product applications by 2017, as the health-care giant hopes to build on the division's turnaround in recent years. J&J's pharmaceutical unit--which used to be its largest by sales but has become eclipsed by the medical-device unit--has been on an upswing, posting full-year sales growth for 2012 and 2011 after three consecutive years of sales declines as older drugs lost patent protection. The company has launched 11 new drug products since 2009 to help jump-start sales growth, including the anti-inflammatory drugs Simponi and Stelara, prostate-cancer treatment Zytiga, the blood thinner Xarelto and diabetes drug Invokana. This has helped replenish a drug unit whose sales were eroded by the loss of market exclusivity for big-selling older drugs, including antipsychotic Risperdal and attention-deficit treatment Concerta. Now, J&J expects to seek approval in coming years for new treatments for rheumatoid arthritis, influenza and cancer, executives said Thursday in a meeting with analysts and investors near company headquarters in New Brunswick, N.J. "We are preparing for the next wave of growth," Joaquin Duato, J&J's world-wide chairman of the pharmaceuticals group, said Thursday. J&J shares, up 39% over the past year, slid 60 cents in premarket trading to $87.20 amid a broader market selloff. There is no guarantee that J&J's products will succeed in clinical testing or be approved by government regulators. Among the late-stage products for which it plans to file for regulatory approval are simeprevir for hepatitis C, ibrutinib and daratumumab for the treatment of hematologic malignancies, and sirukumab and guselkumab for immune-mediated diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. J&J also plans to seek more than 25 new uses for existing pharmaceutical brands by 2017, which could further boost sales if they are cleared by regulators. The health-care company said that by 2017, sales of products launched since 2009 should account for about half of total pharmaceutical sales. J&J cited IMS Health data that show the total global pharmaceuticals market is expected to grow about 4.5% annually and reach a market size of about $1.2 trillion by 2017. The company last held a pharmaceutical review with Wall Street two years ago, when it said it planned to file 11 new drugs and vaccines for regulatory approval by the end of 2015. Several have been approved, but some products have been scrapped or delayed. Following negative clinical trial results last year, J&J and partner Pfizer Inc. (PFE) discontinued development of an intravenous formulation of experimental Alzheimer's disease treatment bapineuzumab. Also, J&J has encountered delays in the development of three products obtained in the takeover of Dutch vaccine maker Crucell. Last year, the company said it no longer planned to submit the products--which included a flu vaccine--for regulatory submission by the end of 2015, as previously planned. J&J paid more than $2 billion in 2011 for the stake in Crucell that it didn't already own. J&J previously acquired an 18% stake in Crucell for about $450 million, in conjunction with a 2009 collaboration to develop and commercialize vaccines and antibodies. The delayed Crucell products, including influenza treatment Flumab, are now included among the planned regulatory applications expected by 2017. www.foxbusiness.com/news/2013/05/23/j...
"lumber jacks may be good tough, truckers even stronger, but when it finally comes to ride, COWBOYS stay on longer,..." Groeten, Frank
