    The stock of Galapagos NV (ADR) (NASDAQ:GLPG) gapped up by $0.33 today and has $78.79 target or 43.00% above today’s $55.10 share price. The 6 months technical chart setup indicates low risk for the $2.51 billion company. The gap was reported on Aug, 23 by Barchart.com. If the $78.79 price target is reached, the company will be worth $1.08 billion more. Gaps up are useful for using as a support level and to some extent as a tradeable event. If investors already hold the stock and experience a price gap up, then its usually a good idea to hold the stock for a stronger up move. Back-tests of these patterns indicate that two-thirds of the times the stock performance improves after the gap. The area gaps close 89% of the time, the breakaway gaps, 2%, the continuation gaps 4% and the exhaustion gaps 61%. The stock increased 1.12% or $0.61 on August 23, hitting $55.1. About 28,787 shares traded hands. Galapagos NV (ADR) (NASDAQ:GLPG) has risen 6.03% since January 19, 2016 and is uptrending. It has underperformed by 9.99% the S&P500.

    The biotech sector was getting crushed Wednesday afternoon, likely in response to statements made by Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, as well as The White House regarding the increase in EpiPen pricing.

    Clinton's statement said, "Over the last several years, Mylan Pharmaceuticals has increased the price of EpiPens by more than 400%. They're now charging up to $600 for a two-EpiPen set that must be replaced every 12-18 months. This both increases out-of-pocket costs for families and first responders, and contributes to higher premiums for all Americans and their employers."

    "That's outrageous -- and it's just the latest troubling example of a company taking advantage of its consumers. I believe that our pharmaceutical and biotech industries can be an incredible source of American innovation, giving us revolutionary treatments for debilitating diseases. But it's wrong when drug companies put profits ahead of patients, raising prices without justifying the value behind them... I am calling on Mylan to immediately reduce the price of EpiPens."

    Van beide kandidaten kun je 1 grote puinhoop naar boven halen, maar gezien Clinton ons hier op het moment ook aan gaat vind ik het wel uitermate triest dat ze zo punten probeert te scoren terwijl ze schaamteloos geld aanneemt van de big pharma.

    Ondertussen harkt haar foundation bergen met geld binnen en geeft ook bergen met geld uit aan salarissen, reisjes en ander vertier terwijl er maar 3% gaat naar dat waar de foundation voor bedoeld is.

    Daarnaast gaat dit over een inderdaad opmerkelijke prijsverhoging in de afgelopen jaren. Als hier geen goede argumentatie (naast winstmaximalisatie) tegenover staat, is de opmerking van Hillary terecht. Wat me wel verbaast is dat de hele biotech hier zo sterk op reageert. Een hoogconcurrerende markt zoals bijvoorbeeld reuma heeft weinig te vrezen. Dit gaat m.i. over monopolistische medicijnen, waar de prijs door een partij bepaald kan worden.
    De markt houdt niet van onzekerheid is reageert naar mijn mening te sterk, namelijk of de hele sector hier mee te maken heeft.
