    A Major Steel Producer Comes Back Online
    Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih, a longs producer in the country’s second-largest city, is set to bring Blast Furnace No. 8 back online on May 2. This is according to CEO Mauro Longobardo, who made the announcement in the April 8 issue of the plant newspaper, Metallurg. Longobardo went on to say that Blast Furnace No. 6 will resume operations “in the coming days.”

    ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih also expressed plans to return rolling production to the “highest possible level” by May 10. At the same time, the company plans to resume exports of iron ore concentrates. However, Longobardo made it clear that these actions are contingent on both logistics and the military situation. Currently, the plan is to dispatch finished products to Poland via train.

    “It used to go by sea, but now we will transport it by rail first to Poland and from there to our customers,” Longobardo added.

    Heeft er iemand reeds een inzicht als arcelormittal in de VS ook kan profiteren van de gigantische infrastructuur werken via hun NAFTA business of kan enkel calvert USA zijn bijdrage leveren.

    Dat kan een verklaring zijn waarom de USA concurrenten zo ferm gestegen zijn tov arcelormittal.

    Die Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is natuurlijk een politiek verhaal, moet nog zien wat dat uiteindelijk oplevert. Maar wie het materiaal gaat leveren zal heus niet vastgelegd zijn, lijkt me dat ze dat op federaal nivo neerleggen.
    Maar vast wel te vinden in het guidebook :-)

    US Steel stort volledig in van + 2 % naar - 6.2 % nu
    En Arcelor wordt meegetrokken , nu al tov slot Aex
    -2.5 % !!!! Als dit niet gaat herstellen
    Verliezen we morgen weer die 3 % , die
    AM vandaag had gewonnen , wat een aandeel .
    Morgen terug naar de € 29 , of er komt vanavond
    nog een opleving , en passeren we morgen de € 31

    Nucor Reports Strong Results for First Quarter of 2022

    Charlotte North Carolina headquartered Nucor Corporation has announced consolidated net earnings of USD 2.10 billion for the first quarter of 2022, making it the most profitable first quarter in the Company's history. By comparison, Nucor reported consolidated net earnings of USD 2.25 billion for the fourth quarter of 2021 and USD 942.4 million for the first quarter of 2021. Nucor's President & Chief Executive Officer Mr Leon Topalian said "I'm incredibly proud of the Nucor Team's exceptional focus on delivering world class performance in the first quarter of 2022, especially our record results in Safety and first quarter profitability. We are grateful for the trust our customers place in the Nucor Team with every order as we strive to offer exceptional value by delivering the cleanest and most sustainable steel solutions in the world. Our key forward looking indicators for 2022 remain favorable and we expect another strong year in both earnings and cash generation.”

    Nucor's consolidated net sales increased 1% to UD 10.49 billion in the first quarter of 2022 compared with USD 10.36 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021 and increased 50% compared with USD 7.02 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Average sales price per ton in the first quarter of 2022 increased 2% compared with the fourth quarter of 2021 and increased 68% compared with the first quarter of 2021.

    A total of 6,394,000 tons were shipped to outside customers in the first quarter of 2022, which was similar to the fourth quarter of 2021 and decreased 11% as compared to the first quarter of 2021. Total steel mill shipments in the first quarter of 2022 decreased 1% as compared to the fourth quarter of 2021 and decreased 11% as compared to the first quarter of 2021. Steel mill shipments to internal customers represented 22% of total steel mill shipments in the first quarter of 2022, compared with 22% in the fourth quarter of 2021 and 21% in the first quarter of 2021. Downstream steel product shipments to outside customers in the first quarter of 2022 increased 7% from the fourth quarter of 2021 and increased 2% from the first quarter of 2021.

    Second Quarter of 2022 Outlook - Nucor expects that the second quarter of 2022 will be the most profitable quarter in Nucor's history, surpassing the previous record set in the fourth quarter of 2021. Second quarter earnings will be driven by increased profitability in the steel products segment, which continues to benefit from robust demand in nonresidential construction markets. In addition, the steel mills segment earnings are expected to strengthen due primarily to increased profitability at our sheet and plate mills. Similarly, Nucor's raw materials segment is expected to generate increased profits in the second quarter due to relatively higher selling prices for raw materials.

    Nucor and its affiliates are manufacturers of steel and steel products, with operating facilities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Products produced include: carbon and alloy steel in bars, beams, sheet and plate; hollow structural section tubing; electrical conduit; steel racking; steel piling; steel joists and joist girders; steel deck; fabricated concrete reinforcing steel; cold finished steel; precision castings; steel fasteners; metal building systems; insulated metal panels; steel grating; and wire and wire mesh. Nucor, through The David J. Joseph Company, also brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals, pig iron and hot briquetted iron & direct reduced iron; supplies ferroalloys; and processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap. Nucor is North America's largest recycler.

    Mondiale staalproductie blijft dalen
    In maart daling van bijna 6 procent.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) De mondiale staalproductie is ook in maart weer gedaald. Dit bleek vrijdag uit cijfers van brancheorganisatie World Steel Association.

    In totaal vervaardigden de 64 staalproducerende landen vorige maand 161 miljoen ton staal, een daling van 5,8 procent op jaarbasis.

    Dat kwam onder meer door China, wereldwijd met afstand de grootste fabrikant van staal. Daar daalde de productie vorige maand met 6,4 procent tot 88,3 miljoen ton.

    In de VS daalde de productie in maart met 1,7 procent, naar 7,0 miljoen ton.

    In Rusland daalde de productie naar schatting met 1,8 procent en in Japan met 4,3 procent.

    De EU kende in maart een productiekrimp van 8,5 procent tot 12,8 miljoen ton. In Duitsland daalde de productie met 11,8 procent.
