Let us use this thread to talk about map changes that could potentially make FSD Beta behave better

Thanks to the post below by @MP3Mike I discovered an interesting little fact. Tesla probably does use TomTom maps rather than Google or OpenStreet for city FSD Beta driving.

I've two small roundabouts near my house. Both the roundabouts are present in Google Map as well as OpenStreet. But in TomTom only one of them is present. Funny enough, its the newer roundabout that TomTom has, not the older one.

FSD Beta behave drastically differently when approaching these two roundabouts.
    - In the newer one that is in TomTom map, FSD shows the roundabout in the UI, slows down, puts on blinkers, hesitates a lot before navigating the roundabout
    - In the older one that is not in TomTom map, but is in Google/OSM, FSD doesn't show the roundabout in UI and doesn't slow down. If I don't disengage will probably hit/go over the roundabout like it did for Gali in the famous "no interventions" youtube video

Can anyone verify this in your neighborhoods / routes ? For eg., @jebinc - you were saying FSD takes some roundabout smoothly without hesitating, can you check in TomTom map, whether the roundabout is present ?

BMW’s Level 3 campaign will start its 2022 7 Series full-size sedan, which is due in North America in the second half of 2022. “Level 3 you will see from us in the 7 Series next year,” said BMW’s Director of Development Frank Weber. “It’s a function you can buy. It will be ready to go at the launch of the 7 Series.”

The higher-volume 5 Series midsize sedan and, eventually, the X5 and X7 SUVs also are slated to receive the technology, Weber said. An optional upgrade to Level 3 technology also will be available for its just-launched iX electric SUV.

“The technology stack [for the iX] is a Level 3 system,” Weber said. BMW regards a “stack” as a combination of hardware and software, right down to a computer that processes data 20 times faster than current production BMWs and input from partner Mobileye, a supplier of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) software, which is owned by tech giant Intel.

BMW’s all-new iX electric crossover is a Level 2+ system, though it runs a similar technology stack to the upcoming 7 Series and uses radar, self-cleaning camera, ultrasonic and driver-monitoring sensors and runs HERE mapping and is 5G-capable.

having events like Nvidia Fall GTC 2021 online and free from November 8-11 makes it accessible to far more people than could ever go in person. Like past GTCs this event will feature lots of automotive related content.

For those not familiar with GTC, it is Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference. It’s a great place for anyone interested in learning about or working with Nvidia’s hardware or software technologies to find out more about what’s happening in the field.

What he will likely do is provide updates on the Drive Sim Omniverse platform, introduce some new partners that are utilizing Nvidia technologies in the vehicle and probably talk about some of the applications that will be debuting the new Orin system on a chip in 2022. Among the companies rolling out Orin-powered vehicles next year are Volvo, Polestar, Xpeng and others. The keynote may also feature some news on how Nvidia is going to enable the building of high-definition maps for automated driving following its recent acquisition of DeepMap. Jensen Huang’s keynote premieres at 9am CET on Nov 9, 2021and will be replayed at 11am EST/8am PST.

On Monday Nov. 8, the day before Huang’s keynote, there is a full slate of sessions specifically focused on driving. Among the many speakers that are presenting that day are Ödgärd Andersson, CEO, Zenseact, Guillaume Binet, VP of Software Infrastructure, Motional, and Axel Gern, CTO Autonomous Technology Group, Daimler Trucks among others.

Nieuwe VW ID5 gaat het licht zien….

Volkswagen Unveils the New ID.5 Electric SUV-Coupe

The ID.5 will come with Volkswagen's ID. software version 3.0, which includes improved charging performance. The latest software features various improvements like natural voice control. The system is also able to learn driver preferences and enables online access to data from the cloud. VW's "We Connect" services provide the driver with real-time online traffic information, online map updates, charging station locations, internet radio stations and more.

VW will use swarm data collected from the ID.5 and latest-generation driver assistance system using vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) communications technology to improve the performance as the next step towards high levels of automated driving.

Data can be collected from the ID fleet of vehicles and infrastructure within a radius of up to 800 meters. It can be processed locally in a fraction of a second, enabling nearly instantaneous driver alerts via visual warnings on the instrument cluster about road hazards, such as accidents and traffic.

The ID.5 will support over-the-air software updates as part of Volkswagen's goal of becoming a software-oriented mobility provider.

The new ID.5 sportier ID.5 GTX are manufactured at Volkswagen's plant in Zwickau and are carbon-neutral upon handover to the customer. When charged using 100 percent green energy, the vehicles are already virtually climate-neutral, according to Volkswagen.
