Green hydrogen potential causes Germany to court West African countries

Green hydrogen potential causes Germany to court West African countries
Nations in that part of Africa have the capacity to meet 1500 times Germany’s 2030 H2 demand.

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has identified West Africa as having tremendous green hydrogen production potential.

BMBF views West Africa as a climate-friendly force to be reckoned with, particularly in H2.

According to BMBF estimates, green hydrogen production in West Africa could meet Germany’s needs for the clean fuel 1500 times over by 2030. BMBF has spearheaded a new project called “H2 Atlas: Atlas of the Potentials of Green Hydrogen Production in Africa”. Through that project, it determined that West Africa’s availability of wind and solar energy would given the region an annual green H2 production capacity of 165,000 TWh. Moreover, it also determined that the project currently would be able to produce 120,000 TWh of that amount for under $3 (€2.50) per kilogram.

To provide context as to the opportunity that presents, green H2 currently produced in Germany costs between $8.56 (€7) and $12.23 (€10) per kilogram.

The green hydrogen feasibility study has revealed that West Africa is well suited to clean energy production.

The BMBF feasibility study started last year and will run into next year. It involves an investment of $6.9 million (€5.7 million) and seeks to identify the best locations for the country’s H2 production. The project also involves testing that production, as well as transportation and processing in Africa.

Initial results for the 15 West African Economic Area (ECOAS) countries revealed that a massive three quarters of West African land is appropriate for wind turbines. Moreover, the electricity production from wind energy in the region costs about half the amount it would in Germany.

Additionally, solar power systems can also be economically operate d on about one third of the West African region.

In support of developing West African green hydrogen production, a new master’s graduate program on clean H2 technology will begin in September. The purpose of the program will be to train local Green hydrogen - Map of World - West Africascientific specialists. The first three waves of the program are expected to train about 180 students attending four universities in Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Senegal, and Niger.

Ørsted & HOFOR for Green Power for Hydrogen Project

Ørsted and Greater Copenhagen Utility HOFOR have entered into an agreement that will secure green power for part of the potential 1.3 GW Green Fuels for Denmark project to produce sustainable fuels in the Greater Copenhagen area. As part of the agreement, Ørsted and HOFOR will work towards enabling Ørsted to offtake the power produced at Aflandshage, which is HOFOR's 250 MW offshore wind farm project in the Oresund Strait. At the same time, it has been agreed that HOFOR may place the offshore wind farm's substation at the premises of Avedøre Power Station. Together, Ørsted and HOFOR will seek to realise both technical and trading-related synergies between the two projects. The future cooperation and the concrete design of the link between the wind farm and the PtX plant is subject to all regulatory as well as grid connection matters falling into place.

Provided that a framework is established in Denmark promoting the development of sustainable fuels, the power from Aflandshage could enable parts of Green Fuels for Denmark's second phase of 250 MW and meet the power demand for the project's first phase.

In addition to Green Fuels for Denmark, the agreement on Aflandshage could potentially also cover the power demand of the electrolysis plant that will supply hydrogen to DFDS's proposed hydrogen-powered ferry between Copenhagen and Oslo, if this project is realised.

Aflandshage is being developed, and subject to regulatory approvals, HOFOR expects the project to deliver first power in 2024/2025. The power can be brought onshore at Avedøre Power Station, which is owned by Ørsted, and where Green Fuels for Denmark could be located.

GEV Commences Development of a Pilot C-H2 Ship for Operation by Mid-2020’s

    GEV H2

GEV has commenced the development of a pilot-scale C-H2 Ship with a cargo capacity of 430 tonnes of hydrogen
The addition of a 430-tonne capacity hydrogen ship will:
Align with the scale, timeline, and downstream market opportunities for green hydrogen projects under consideration, both in the Asia Pacific and Europe.

Reduce overall development risk, capital, and construction schedule, and
Enable GEV to achieve its target of an operating fleet of C-H2 vessels by mid 2020’s.

Martin Carolan, Managing Director and CEO commented: “GEV’s design and development strategy for the 2,000-tonne ship proved that large commercial scale C-H2 ships are possible and paved the way for the development of a pilot-scale version. The 430-tonne ship is an ideal size to meet the needs of the current emerging H2 marine transportation industry and will ensure we establish ourselves in the marine transportation of green hydrogen.

Extensive marketing of our C-H2 solution has provided valuable insights into both the scale of supply and demand for green hydrogen in the mid-late 2020’s. A pilot-scale ship will be complementary to partner discussions and GEV’s target to develop a fully integrated green hydrogen supply chain from Northern Australia. This includes GEV’s own renewable energy project to produce green hydrogen based on a specific customer use case, delivered with our own C-H2 ships.

Blending is an attractive source of near-term demand for hydrogen at low blend volumes due to low incremental costs and aligns with C-H2’s modular approach for production scale-up. The scale of a 430t ship can alleviate the additional infrastructure requirements that a liquefaction or ammonia project will require to deliver pure hydrogen gas to the end-user. Regions with aspirations to develop a low-carbon hydrogen economy are likely to turn to grid injection as a means of cultivating a market and stimulating investment into supply.”1

GEV has assembled a team with a successful track record of achieving AIP and the expertise to take the C-H2 ship through to Full Class Approvals with ABS by the end of 2022. More details will be provided on the key milestones in the coming quarters.”

DEVELOPMENT OF A 430 TONNE PILOT SHIP FOR OPERATION MID-2020’s

The Company is pleased to advise shareholders it has made the appointments of Capilano Maritime, C-FER Technologies, Tekkara Project Services, and American Bureau of Shipping for the engineering, design and safety analysis required to achieve Class Approvals. The development of a 430-tonne capacity C-H2 Ship will leverage the successful design and approvals received for the 2,000-tonne capacity ship in March 2021.

Whilst the achievement of AIP remains a rigorous process to satisfy engineering, regulatory and safety requirements for this new vessel, the Company will benefit from a reduction in the amount of time and cost to the schedule in order to target AIP for the end of Q3 2021, and to ultimately target Full Class Approvals by late 2022.

The work program which commenced on June 1, 2021, will also focus on material selection, welding specifications, and prototype design for the required ABS testing program, which will occur in 2022. Refer to Figure 1 below for an indicative timeline for the 430-tonne C-H2 ship.

    Snag 1f676822

Strategical reasons to move forward with a pilot-scale C-H2 ship, include:

GEV’s analysis of the near-term supply and demand for green hydrogen in the 2025-2030 timeframe, making this a world first for the marine transport of green hydrogen at scale.
The 430-tonne containment system fits within a Handymax sized vessel envelope which reduces the development time and cost, maintains a practical ship draft of 9 metres, whilst also optimising the scale of the ship to match hydrogen production volumes.
A smaller capacity ship aligns with opportunities under review for European and Asia Pacific demand centres for downstream applications such as grid injection (blending) and fuel
Aligns with GEV’s own renewable energy and hydrogen export project of up to 1.5 GW of renewable energy, matched with a scaled production and delivery of green hydrogen from Northern Australia to Asia.
THE KEY SPECIFICATIONS OF THE 430 TONNE C-H2 SHIP

The proprietary design for the containment system is made up of two large circular 12m diameter tanks, contained within the hull of the ship, that will store ambient temperature hydrogen at an operating pressure of 250 bar and will have a combined containment capacity of 430 tonnes of hydrogen.

One of the key considerations in designing a steel tank for storing hydrogen, is that the hydrogen molecule is so small it can enter the steel’s molecular structure and over time can cause the steel to suffer from embrittlement. Embrittlement is managed in our design by providing a liner such as stainless steel that prevents the steel structure from becoming damaged by the hydrogen.

Fukushima Prefecture Building Hydrogen Based City

Fukushima Prefecture and Toyota Motor Corporation have commenced discussions with various partners over building a city for a new future that makes use of hydrogen and technologies produced in Fukushima Prefecture. In order to further promote reconstruction, Fukushima Prefecture is focusing on hydrogen, a new form of energy, and has undertaken to build one of the first models for a future hydrogen society. Isuzu, Hino, and Toyota all seek to realize carbon neutrality, and wish to contribute to the building of a new city of the future in Fukushima via their three-company partnership; consequently, Fukushima Prefecture, Toyota, and their partners will create an implementation model for hydrogen-based deliveries at supermarkets and convenience stores, which play a role both as essential urban infrastructure and as evacuation areas in times of disaster. They will first build an implementation model for a city with a population of 300,000 people, before embarking on a challenge to apply the model to similar-sized cities nationwide.

The implementation model will make use of hydrogen produced at multiple sites in the prefecture, including Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field (FH2R), introduce several fuel cell (FC) trucks for deliveries, optimize operational management and hydrogen refilling schedules through the use of connected technologies, and carry out energy management that caters to the prevailing local conditions.

In addition, in response to the needs and issues experienced by Namie Town, where FH2R is located, and other regions in the prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture, Toyota, and their partners will operate FC kitchen cars and medical cars, and use hydrogen at stores and plants in Fukushima Prefecture to reduce supply chain carbon emissions.

Following the announcement of Japan’s 2050 Carbon Neutral Goal, there is a growing need for concrete initiatives aimed at building sustainable societies that can be passed on to future generations. Fukushima Prefecture, Toyota, and their partners share this conviction; to this end, they intend to steadily promote the realization of one of the world’s first hydrogen societies, and of carbon neutrality, by expanding their spheres of cooperation, and taking advantage of the diverse regional characteristics of Fukushima Prefecture.

Secretary Granholm Launches Energy Earthshots Initiative to Accelerate Breakthroughs Toward a Net-Zero Economy

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm today launched the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Earthshots Initiative, to accelerate breakthroughs of more abundant, affordable, and reliable clean energy solutions within the decade. The first Energy Earthshot—Hydrogen Shot—seeks to reduce the cost of clean hydrogen by 80% to $1 per kilogram in one decade. Achieving these targets will help America tackle the climate crisis, and more quickly reach the Biden-Harris Administration’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 while creating good-paying, union jobs and growing the economy.

“The Energy Earthshots are an all-hands-on-deck call for innovation, collaboration and acceleration of our clean energy economy by tackling the toughest remaining barriers to quickly deploy emerging clean energy technologies at scale,” said Secretary Granholm. “First up: Hydrogen Shot, which sets an ambitious yet achievable cost target to accelerate innovations and spur demand of clean hydrogen. Clean hydrogen is a game changer. It will help decarbonize high-polluting heavy-duty and industrial sectors, while delivering good-paying clean energy jobs and realizing a net-zero economy by 2050.”

The Hydrogen Shot establishes a framework and foundation for clean hydrogen deployment in the American Jobs Plan, which includes support for demonstration projects. Industries are beginning to implement clean hydrogen to reduce emissions, but there are still many hurdles to deploying it at scale. Currently, hydrogen from renewable energy costs about $5 per kilogram. By achieving Hydrogen Shot’s 80% cost reduction goal, we can unlock a five-fold increase in demand by increasing clean hydrogen production from pathways such as renewables, nuclear, and thermal conversion. This would create more clean energy jobs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and position America to compete in the clean energy market on a global scale.

Today’s announcement follows Secretary Granholm’s commitment, made during President Biden’s Leaders Summit on Climate, to propel next-generation technologies in key clean energy sectors. The Energy Earthshots will drive integrated program development across DOE’s science, applied energy offices, and ARPA-E to address tough technological challenges and cost hurdles, and rapidly advance solutions to help achieve our climate and economic competitiveness goals.

As part of the launch, at the DOE’s Hydrogen Program Annual Merit Review and Peer Evaluation Meeting, DOE’s Hydrogen Program issued a Request for Information (RFI) on viable hydrogen demonstrations, including specific locations, that can help lower the cost of hydrogen, reduce carbon emissions and local air pollution, create good-paying jobs, and provide benefits to disadvantaged communities. Topics in the RFI include:

    Hydrogen Production, Resources, and Infrastructure
End Users for Hydrogen Based on Specific Regions, Cost, and Value Propositions
Greenhouse Gas and Other Pollutant Emissions Reduction Potential
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI), Jobs, and Environmental Justice
Science and Innovation Needs and Challenges
Responses are due July 7, 2021, by 5 p.m. ET. For more information about this RFI, visit EERE Exchange. For more information on DOE’s efforts to enable at-scale clean hydrogen, visit the Hydrogen Program and the H2@Scale pages.

    Hogere rente in vooruitzicht
    11:44

Hyundai, SK, POSCO & Hyosung to Launch Hydrogen Body in Korea

South Korean media reported that leaders of four South Korean conglomerates Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Mr Chung Euisun, SK Group Chairman Mr Chey Tae-won, Posco Group Chairman Mr Choi Jeong-woo and Hyosung Group Chairman Mr Cho Hyun-joon met at a Hyundai Motor’s R&D and have agreed to launch a CEO level consultation body for the local hydrogen economy and forge a corporate alliance of hydrogen business players. The consultation bodywill encourage corporate investments and expand the hydrogen industry's value chain. Hyundai Motor Group, SK Group and Posco Group will serve as co-chairs of this new consultative body. Envisioned to be a Korean version of the Hydrogen Council, the body would recruit more participant companies before its official launch in September. It plans to finalize its members by July and appoint the chief representative for the September foundation.

The four conglomerates are major firms here that have been investing resources in the local hydrogen industry. They announced in March that they plan to invest KWR 43 trillion (USD 38 billion) in building a wide range of hydrogen infrastructure, such as production and storage of hydrogen by 2030.

    1. Hyundai Motor Group succeeded in mass production of the world’s first hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle in 2013. The group plans to annually produce 0.5 million hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicles and 0.7 million hydrogen-based fuel cell system. Hyundai Motor Group has said it will inject 11.1 trillion won for the research and development projects linked to hydrogen cars, while installing more charging stations. Hyundai Motor Group has said it will inject KWR 11.1 trillion won for the research and development projects linked to hydrogen cars, while installing more charging stations.

    Go go go ;)

Ramping up green hydrogen has the potential to propel Europe’s energy transition forward. Convinced of the benefits of a renewable-based (“green”) hydrogen economy, BayWa r.e. is continuing to explore the potential of hydrogen for cutting carbon emissions with its SinneWetterstof Hydrogen Pilot Project in the Netherlands.

BayWa r.e. and its Dutch subsidiary GroenLeven are partnering with the Netherlands ’ largest network company Alliander on the project, which was launched in autumn 2020. The project partners have recently finalised their cooperation agreements and have now started preparations for the construction, and commissioning of the hydrogen system.

At the project, solar energy from a 50 MWp solar farm is converted into green hydrogen with an electrolyser in times of overproduction. With this hydrogen solution, generated energy can be stored locally, in a sustainable way, so it is not lost.

The project, one of the first of its kind, will additionally test the extent to which a hydrogen electrolyser can follow the generation profile of a solar plant and, in doing so, how its flexible load can solve grid congestion issues.

The construction is expected to be completed by the end of August and fully operational by late 2021.

Willem de Vries, project manager at GroenLeven, explains: “In addition to the fact that this project will give us valuable insights into the usage of green hydrogen as a storable form of renewable energy, it also allows us to look at how the electrolyser can adapt to the constantly changing generation from the solar park. We look forward to learning more about the capabilities of such an installation.”

The value of green hydrogen isn’t limited to its storage function, it can also bring sustainability benefits to the mobility sector. BayWa r.e. is pleased to announce that an agreement has been signed with Orangegas, a supplier of green fuels throughout the Netherlands, for the purchase of the green hydrogen from the SinneWetterstof project. Orangegas will distribute the hydrogen to various filling stations throughout the Netherlands.

Manfred Groh, Strategy Manager, Corporate Strategy, Energy Policy & Sustainability, at BayWa r.e., commented: “The smart deployment of electrolysers can help reduce the need to invest in new grid connections or extensions. This will further enable the installation of more renewable plants in Europe. Economies of scale in solar and wind generation are crucial for lowest cost power supply for electrolysis. Now is the time to invest and drive forward green technologies that have the potential to deliver a long-term and sustainable future.”

Climate neutrality requires a large transformation of the way we produce and consume energy and calls for new technologies and possibilities for fossil-free solutions. Besides its own business activities, BayWa r.e. is therefore contributing to several initiatives to promote the important role of renewable hydrogen to meet decarbonisation goals.

Together with many other businesses, BayWa r.e. is part of the Renewable Hydrogen Coalition – the voice of a high-level and interdisciplinary network of start-ups, investors, entrepreneurs, innovative companies, and industrial off-takers, all dedicated to making Europe the global leader in renewable hydrogen solutions.

In addition, BayWa r.e. is also supporting the “Hydrogenizing Barcelona Initiative”. Launched in 2020, this initiative brings together an international consortium of more than 20 companies, research institutes, and public entities, who have the ambition to implement a green hydrogen economy in the metropolitan area of the Spanish city.

    Hydrogen: Towards net-zero emissions
Shell’s ultimate goal is to produce green hydrogen, through electrolysis, using renewable power such as wind and solar. But moving quickly in the energy transition means both green and blue hydrogen can play a role in the decade ahead. Blue hydrogen is produced from natural gas and later decarbonised, using carbon capture and storage.

In order to keep up with increasing hydrogen and renewable power demand, blue hydrogen can provide an interim solution to help build the hydrogen ecosystem while still lowering emissions.

    See Shell’s current projects below:

    Germany: REFHYNE electrolyser

In Germany, Shell is working on the REFHYNE electrolyser that will produce green hydrogen using renewable energy. With vital funding of the EU's Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, this 10 MW electrolyser, which uses advanced proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology, will be one of the largest hydrogen electrolysers of its kind when completed in 2021. The plant will be built by ITM Power and operated by Shell, producing 1,300 tonnes of hydrogen per year.

    Netherlands: NortH2

Shell, together with its consortium partners, Gasunie and Groningen Seaports, is aiming to build the largest European green hydrogen project in the Netherlands by 2040. If given the go-ahead, NortH2 will be capable of producing more than 800,000 tonnes of green hydrogen by electricity generated from a 10 GW offshore wind farm in the North Sea. In December 2020, RWE and Equinor joined the consortium.

    Netherlands: Rotterdam Green Hydrogen Hub

Shell is working together with partners to create a green hydrogen hub in the Port of Rotterdam. In July 2020 Shell and Eneco were awarded a tender for the 759 MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind project in the North Sea, which will become operational in 2023. Shell is planning to build a 200 MW electrolyser in the Port of Rotterdam, which is intended to start operations by 2023 to produce about 50,000 – 60,000 kg of hydrogen per day. The green hydrogen produced will initially be used at the Shell refinery in Pernis to partially decarbonise the production of fossil fuels. A final investment decision on the electrolyser is yet to be taken.

    Netherlands: Emmen

A 12 MW solar park is being built as a part of the energy hub GZI Next. Apart from producing solar energy, this energy hub will produce hydrogen as well.

    China: Zhangjiakou City

In November 2020 Shell unveiled its first commercial hydrogen project in China. This infrastructure included a 20 MW hydrogen electrolyser which will see green hydrogen produced from abundant wind and solar resources in Hebei province. The joint venture with Zhangjiakou City will be used to support the development of hydrogen and clean energy in the region as well as supply hydrogen refueling stations in Zhangjiakou, which is one of the co-hosts of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Canada, Alberta sign deal for $1.3B hydrogen plant in Edmonton
by The Canadian PressPosted Jun 9, 2021 11:44 am EDT

EDMONTON — The federal and Alberta governments are signing an agreement that could lead to a plant to produce hydrogen built near Edmonton.

The governments say they’re working with Air Products Canada to build the $1.3-billon plant, which would produce the clean-burning fuel from natural gas.

They say the plant would produce hydrogen-fuelled electricity and liquid hydrogen for transportation and could be running by 2024.

Hydrogen releases no carbon when it burns.

Using hydrogen instead of fossil fuels is thought to be a significant way to reduce Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Air Products Canada has been in business since 1997 and operates three hydrogen facilities in Alberta and one in Ontario, as well as pipeline networks in both provinces.

TotalEnergies, Sunfire and Fraunhofer give the go-ahead for green methanol in Leuna
    Leuna, June 15, 2021

TotalEnergies announced the launch of the e-CO2Met project at the Hydrogen Lab Leuna together with the electrolyser manufacturer Sunfire, the Fraunhofer Center for Chemical-Biotechnological Processes CBP and the Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS. Methanol can be produced from low-carbon hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide, which is an important approach to reducing climate-damaging greenhouse gas emissions. With the ambition to produce climate-neutral methanol on site, this demonstration project will integrate the various components required to this end, such as the use of renewable energy.

TotalEnergies currently produces around 700,000 tons of methanol per year based on fossil raw materials at the TotalEnergies Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland in Leuna, making it the largest methanol producer in Europe. The e-CO2Met project is therefore an important step towards climate neutrality. It aims to test the combination of three innovative processes - the use of CO2 from the refinery, the use of green hydrogen produced by high-temperature electrolysis and the subsequent methanol synthesis on the Hy2Chem scaling platform.

"TotalEnergies R&D program on Carbon Capture and Utilization is developing approaches for the economically viable reuse of CO2 which is in line with the climate ambition of the company. e-CO2Met is the first pilot project for TotalEnergies to convert CO2 with renewable electric energy to methanol. Whilst this methanol can be considered itself an e-fuel, it can importantly be used as a platform in a further upgrading to products including sustainable aviation fuels,” explains Marie-Noelle Semeria, Chief Technology Officer at TotalEnergies.

"With the innovative production of synthetic methanol, crude oil and natural gas can be replaced in the chemical industry and the required raw materials can be produced in a climate-neutral way. In this way, we are making a contribution to the decarbonisation of basic chemicals," says Thomas Behrends, Managing Director TotalEnergies Raffinerie Mitteldeutschland.

High-efficiency electrolysis for hydrogen production from renewable energies

A core piece of e-CO2Met is the 1 MW high-temperature electrolyser from the Dresden-based electrolysis company Sunfire. The system’s efficiency of more than 80 percent for producing green hydrogen from renewable electricity and water vapour is far higher than that of conventional electrolysers. As a result, the system requires significantly less electricity to produce one kilogram of hydrogen.

"Our innovative electrolysis technology is the key to decarbonising all industrial sectors that are still dependent on fossil fuels today. Especially in the refining and chemical industries, clean and sustainable solutions are needed to achieve the EU's ambitious climate targets. We look forward to a strong partnership in the e-CO2Met project," says Sunfire CEO Nils Aldag.

Green methanol from renewable hydrogen and exhaust gas CO2

In the next step, the green hydrogen obtained from electrolysis and highly concentrated CO2 from the refinery's production processes will be converted into green methanol. For this purpose, the Fraunhofer CBP and TotalEnergies are planning a pilot plant in the new Fraunhofer Hydrogen Lab at the Leuna Chemical Park. The pilot plant is the first project of the Hy2Chem scaling platform funded by the state of Saxony-Anhalt through EFRE funds. "With the Hy2Chem platform, we can test the use of regeneratively produced hydrogen for the production of feedstock chemicals and fuels in sustainable synthesis processes on a large scale for the first time - even under the conditions of a fluctuating hydrogen stream," explains group leader Dr Ulrike Junghans, who is coordinating the project at the CBP.

A crucial step for implementing these processes on an industrial scale is pushing the development of electrolysers and synthetic processes. For this purpose, Fraunhofer IMWS operates the Hydrogen Lab Leuna, a unique test infrastructure on an industrial scale, and provides extensive scientific support. The Hydrogen Lab simulates different load profiles typical of renewable energy supply, maps their diurnal and inter-seasonal fluctuations and thus provides important findings for the design and cost estimation of the systems under realistic conditions.

"The Hydrogen Lab Leuna is the first large-scale test facility in Germany that is fully integrated with the infrastructure of the chemical industry, making it ideal for projects in the field of power-to-X processes. We can test industrial electrolysers of any type at the systems level, further develop them together with our industry partners and at the same time gain valuable experience in supplying hydrogen to the pipeline system of our partner Linde - currently up to a 5 MW scale," says Dr. Moritz Kühnel, who coordinates the electrolysis research activities at Fraunhofer IMWS.

The development of a hydrogen economy is an important step towards climate neutrality in Germany and Europe. Especially in connection with the use of green hydrogen as a chemical raw material, there is also considerable potential for shaping structural change. Particularly at the industrial and chemical site of Leuna, a hub for green hydrogen and its derivatives can be created on the basis of many years of experience, existing infrastructure and the interaction between innovative companies and research institutes.
