    Binnen een paar uur wordt het ook in de VS donker...en een beetje laat om nadien nog met de bus thuis te geraken.
    Hoe zit het daar nu? Al geweld losgebarsten?
    En bij gebrek aan geweld...al een vreedzame betoging voor Trump en tegen zijn Impeachment gerapporteerd?
    Ergens? Het MOET niet in Washington zijn. Gewoon...ergens.

    Donald John Trump gaf geen gehoor aan die verzoeken.

    Donald John Trump had twee petten op :

    1 de leider en aanstichter van de bestorming van het Capitol van Washington DC
    2 de leiding gevende die beschikt over de bescherming van het Capitol van Washington DC.

    Trump heeft voor 1 gekozen en besloten de levens van Mike Pence en de aanwezige senatoren, waaronder 1ste in lijn van President opvolging Mike Pence, 2de in lijn als President pro Tempore, Chuck Grassley en 3de in lijn Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
    Het doel was dan dat Mike Pompeo als 4de in lijn direct onder de resident zou komen te staan.

    Een staatsgreep in optima forma.

    Jouw opmerking dat het Capitol al eerder beveiligd had moeten zijn geweest, is volledig te wijten aan het bewust falen van de door jou geroemde Donald Trump.

    Jouw opmerking dat het ook onder de democraten mis had kunnen gaan.
    Dit heeft niets te maken met Republikeinse of Democratische partij.
    Dit heeft te maken gehad met het aansturen op een staatsgreep door 1 enkel persoon : de door jou geroemde persoon Donald Trump.

    Voor mij heeft Trump zich ingelaten met laakbaar afzichtelijk gedrag en de democratie op zijn grondvesten doen schudden.

    De laatste wanhoopspoging van een dictator in spe, die gelukkig mislukte.

    Ik vind dat James Comey ergens gelijk heeft.
    Ik heb de afgelopen 12 maanden verschillende keren met Bill Palmer in de clinch gelegen om dat hij telkens schreef dat Donald naar de gevangenis gaat. Ik schreef Donald komt niet in de gevangenis, Joe Biden heeft wel wat anders aan zijn hoofd. Hij zit met de corona en de verdeeldheid van het land en vele andere belangrijke zaken. Donald gaat rechtszaak na rechtszaak aan spannen enz enz. Je krijgt een vorm van burgeroorlog, en een bedevaart naar waar hij vast zit. Ze moeten hem twitter en andere medium ontzeggen, en praat verbod over zijn 4 jaar president zijn en beslag leggen op zijn imperium, en misschien reis verbod.
    Ja dat vond Bill niet leuk en het werd verwijderd. Maar ik moet eerlijk zijn hoe Palmer uitleg geeft over moeilijke juridische zaken en hoe hij vaak iets goed door heeft, heeft hij het vaak bij het goede eind.

    Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort is facing court fines for a maskless New Year’s Eve party held at the Florida club in contravention of Covid-19 regulations.

    The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Thursday that county officials issued “a stern warning” to the Palm Beach resort over the party and potential superspreader event, which Trump himself skipped out on when he cut short his winter holiday and returned to the White House to concentrate on efforts to overturn his election defeat.

    “There was a breakdown in enforcement of the mask orders that led to almost the entire room of guests being without masks during the later evening activities,” Palm Beach administrators Todd Bonlarron and Patrick Rutter wrote to Mar-a-Lago managing director Bernd Lembcke.

    An accompanying letter from the county’s department of planning, zoning and building warns that fines of up to $15,000 per violation can be imposed for failure to adhere to facial covering and social distancing requirements.

    Under an emergency county order, businesses are required to ensure visitors wear masks unless they are eating or drinking.

    Guests paid $1,000 per head to attend the glitzy party, usually the highlight of the Mar-a-Lago social calendar but widely considered this year to be a flop. After the president and first lady Melania Trump decided that morning not to attend, attendees were treated to Rudy Giuliani and 1990s rapper Vanilla Ice as the headline acts.

    Managers at Mar-a-Lago did not respond to a request for comment.

    Large bitcoin payments to right-wing activists a month before Capitol riot linked to foreign account

    On Dec. 8, someone made a simultaneous transfer of 28.15 bitcoins — worth more than $500,000 at the time — to 22 different virtual wallets, most of them belonging to prominent right-wing organizations and personalities.

    Now cryptocurrency researchers believe they have identified who made the transfer, and suspect it was intended to bolster those far-right causes. U.S. law enforcement is investigating whether the donations were linked to the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol.

    While the motivation is difficult to prove, the transfer came just a month before the violent riot in the Capitol, which took place after President Trump invited supporters to “walk down Pennsylvania Avenue” and “take back our country.”

    Right-wing figures and websites, including VDARE, the Daily Stormer and Nick Fuentes, received generous donations from a bitcoin account linked to a French cryptocurrency exchange, according to research done by software company Chainalysis, which maintains a repository of information about public cryptocurrency exchanges and whose tools aid in government, law enforcement and private sector investigations. Chainalysis investigated the donations after Yahoo News shared the data points about the transaction.

    According to one source familiar with the matter, the suspicious Dec. 8 transaction, along with a number of other pieces of intelligence, has prompted law enforcement and intelligence agencies in recent days to actively investigate the sources of funding for the individuals who participated in the Capitol insurrection, as well as their networks. The government is hoping to prevent future attacks but also to uncover potential foreign involvement in or support of right-wing activities, the source said.

    During a press conference on Tuesday on the investigation into the Capitol riot, acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin said the “scope and scale of this investigation in these cases are really unprecedented.” At this time, Sherwin added, prosecutors are treating the matter as a “significant counterterrorism or counterintelligence investigation” involving deeper dives into “money, travel records, disposition, movement, communication records.”

    The man who was photographed carrying a Confederate flag in the Capitol during last week’s riot has been arrested, according to multiple reports.

    The AP reports:

    "Prosecutors say a Delaware man photographed carrying a Confederate battle flag during a deadly riot in the U.S. Capitol has been arrested after authorities used the image to help identify him.

    Federal prosecutors say Kevin Seefried, who was seen carrying the flag, was arrested in Delaware along with his son Hunter Seefried. Prosecutors say both entered the Senate building through a broken window.

    They were charged with unlawfully entering a restricted building, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds and degradation of government property.

    Court documents say the men were identified after the FBI was told by a coworker of Hunter Seefried’s that he had bragged about being in the Capitol with his father."

    Many Americans reacted with horror to the picture of a Confederate flag in the Capitol, with a number of people noting the flag never made it into the building during the US Civil War.

    According to an AP count, more than 100 people have now been arrested in connection to the violence at the Capitol.

    CNBC : Regering-Trump komt op de valreep nog met nieuwe bancaire regels , die verbieden om leningen te weigeren op grond van risico's zoals klimaatverandering, milieu-doelstellingen, sociale redenen , of .. imago-risico's die onvoldoende hard gemaakt kunnen worden.

    De banken hebben geprotesteerd tegen deze nieuwe regels omdat zij als policy hebben om geen geld te lenen aan bijvoorbeeld oliemaatschappijen die willen gaan boren in het Arctische gebied. Met de nieuwe regels mogen zij geen leningen meer weigeren voor de oliemajors.

    Wat CNBC niet vermeldt , is dat deze regel-herziening ook een achterdeur lijkt te zijn voor Donald Trump. Die moet immers zo snel mogelijk zijn leningen bij de Deutsche Bank ergens anders gaan parkeren. (en uit imago-risico zouden de Amerikaanse banken wel eens geen zin kunnen hebben om Donald van leningen te voorzien. Echter , met de nieuwe regels mogen ze Donald geen lening weigeren)
