    SK Group to invest $1.5bn in fuel cell maker Plug Power

    Deal aligns with South Korea's clean energy roadmap through 2040

    South Korea-based conglomerate SK Group will take a 9.9% stake worth $1.5 billion in hydrogen fuel cell maker Plug Power Inc and form a joint venture to help provide hydrogen fuel cell products to Asian markets, the companies said.

    As part of deal, a U.S. unit of SK Group will acquire about 51.4 million shares of Latham, New York-based Plug Power at a price of $29.2893 per share.

    Plug Power shares were up 20% in extended trading on Wednesday after closing 7% firmer.

    The agreement comes at a time of brisk demand for clean energy, signaling a gradual shift from polluting fossil fuels in the coming years.

    The South Korea government in 2019 announced the Hydrogen Economy Roadmap through 2040, with ambitious goals, including over 5MM tons of hydrogen per year, and expects the cumulative economic value of its hydrogen economy to reach ~$40 billion by 2040.

    If a deal comes through, the SK Group-Plug Power investment is expected to close in the first quarter of 2021.

    Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC served as the financial adviser and Goodwin Procter LLP acted as legal adviser to Plug Power.

    Plug Power price target raised to $60 from $30 at H.C. Wainwright H.C. Wainwright analyst Amit Dayal raised the firm's price target on Plug Power to $60 from $30 and reiterates a Buy rating on the shares. The doubling of the target is driven primarily by expectations of an accelerated hydrogen deployment environment in Asia that is being supported by a $1.5B strategic investment from SK Group based in South Korea, Dayal tells investors in a research note. The analyst believes the strategic partnership announced last night should enable the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell systems, hydrogen fueling stations, and electrolyzers in South Korea and other key Asian markets. Dayal is now projecting 2030 net revenue and EBIT for Plug Power of $12.9B and $3.9B, respectively, compared to $7.4B and $2.0B previously.

    Ik heb ze, op 3,25 gak. en stoploss op 15 euro onder laatste koers, deze rolt mee.(trailing stop)
    En het gaat me dit keer niet gebeuren zoals bij Enphase en Tesla dat ik ze te vroeg verkoop :-)

    Ik verwacht nu Azie ook interesse toont voor Plug power en Europa zal niet lang daarna volgen.
    Tis een ideale opslag voor overbodig zonne en windenergie.

    Overigens zit ook in NEL ASA, behoorlijk nu. Deze heeft alwel een wereldwijd netwerk voor waterstof.
